Patty dancing with a bag of frozen veggies put such a big smile on my face. It's the silly things that truly warm my heart, so I truly appreciate this silly place. Thanks as always for the vid Patty
Yuka is a really cool app but you have to take the results with a grain of salt. For example, you'll never find chocolate with 70+/100 rating because it's ,by essence, calorie dense. Likewise, don't freak out if your moisturizer or toner doesn't rate 100/100. Some ingredients are red flagged but the studies they base they rating on are for very high dosage and/or not conclusive enough (but I totally understand the "better safe than sorry" policy). Also, good rating doesn't mean the product works! (I had a few bad experiences with solid conditioners that were an absolute waste of money) It's a great tool but it takes a little time to understand how it works. I personally love the free recipes you get with their newsletter. They're very healthy and yummy😋
They're pretty famous for being independent and impervious to brands and big companies. Am I too naive for believing it? Maybe... But honestly, if you follow their recommendations, you'll be VERY healthy! @@elizabuga4337
This is why I stopped using the Yuka app. It’s rating on straight ingredients alone, without taking dosage into account at all. But the ingredient doesn’t make the poison, the dosage does.
Hearing you talk about nutrition is always super eye opening. Having a fitness interest can quickly turn into obsessing over calories and whatnot so it's great to have you reminding us that's it's not the end of the world to not track everything🙆♀Thanks for keeping it real Patty
I think the app would be better if you could filter the “high calorie” variable out of its ratings. If the goal is purely for impact on health, and you’re not concerned with losing weight, then the caloric density shouldn’t affect its rating.
I interpreted the high calorie rating as being relative to how many nutrients are in it. For example, the popcorn doesn't have much nutritional value at all compared to the vegetables- nearly all it's calories are from oil.
seems like a really nice app for finding additives, macros are comparatively easy but the little things are harder great vid as always patty and hope you have a great week!!

A lot of additives are just code names. So stuff like "E330" is just citric acid, which is already plentiful inside lemons, oranges, lime etc. There are some bad once out there but they tend to be on the lower end of the numbers, like E104 , E110 etc. You all consume quite a lot of E621 (Monosodium Glutamate or MSG for short) in your daily life, like soy sauce, instant noodles etc, which is why those things taste incredible.
