    Seeing people that look like you in the field of medicine make that goal seem so much more attainable. Cant wait.

      @Hussein Rizk representation matters, it probably doesn't matter to you because you're not black and you're used to seeing people who look like you. Your comment is very discouraging.

    • @leeshyeternally
      @leeshyeternally 5 лет назад +19

      Hussein Rizk nothing about the original comment is ignorant. Privilege comes in so many forms & your comment CLEARLY comes from a person with privilege. Why do people stereotype Blacks and say we will all be thugs, rappers, and ball players? Because that’s all they bother to see. When that’s all that’s seen, that’s all that’s believed to be attainable. It doesn’t go any deeper than that.

      Has nothing to do with race but has everything to do with culture. Coming from a immigrant family whose parents worked as grocery baggers and dishwashers at minimum wage my culture raised to be better here in America where opportunities rarely exist in 3rd world countries. Now, I work as an RNFA (surgical nurse) easily making a comfortable income.
      As a adult now, i know factors that contribute to lower socioeconomic status, it's a lack of emphasis on education, single motherhood, and low accountability. Those are the top 3 factors. It has nothing to do with race.

    The Usual Suspects analogy was terrific. I've found in all of the institutions I've worked in here in Canada, there is a tremendous misunderstanding of Anaesthesia until something goes wrong, all options have been exhausted until Anaesthesia is called in and miraculously the patient pulls through. Before anyone has bothered to ask what happened, we're walking down the hall...... a slight pronounced limp is gradually corrected and we're gone

    Im only 13 yrs old, but i was born to have a very bright future from always being the top of my class, very social, well-rounded, etc, i have been looking into anesthesiology. When i was young i developed a tumor in my ankle and had to have it surgically removed at about 10 yo old at Texas Children Hospital. I remember the beautiful ladies rolling me into the operating room and talking to me and laughing with me and i loved it! Then they put the mask on me and i remember them asking me a question but in one breath of those drugs i was OUT😂. Then i remember waking up in the huge room where all the kids were at after surgery and i remember my mom telling me “you have to wake up baby if you want to come home” “wake up baby, wake up” and i was fighting so hard to stay awake but chile i was soooo sleepy😂 so i ended up having to stay the night under observation with my mom and i could hardly sleep i was up moving around, watching T.V., going to the restroom etc. Then i finally got some sleep and the nurse told me I was given a strong dosage of “sleepy gas”😂, and from there i was invested in the study. Watching this video is really inspiring, if people that look like me can do it, i can too, thank you for this❤️!!

    You should do a video on Nurse Anesthetists as well! Or maybe the difference between Nurse Anesthetists and Anesthesiologists!

    Dr. Webb the busy doctor with great video quality. You are going great work. I know doctors in my personal life and they are lame and boring. Not interested in making videos. Not interested in utilizing social media although they have friends quite skilled in those areas.

    See I want to become one but I’m afraid of being over worked . Like I’d like to work 40-50 but anything more drains me . I’m just curious of the flexibility of the hours in a day and how many days available to work. My current plan is to go to school for nursing (bachelors )then either go the route or Crna or go for the anesthesiologists. Got any tips or advice . Ps. I’m also from Dallas this made me fan girl when I heard dallas .

    Great video.. I’am interested in becoming an Anesthesiologist assistant but cant really find any videos about them with everyone only focusing on CRNA’s. Can you do a video featuring an Anesthesiologist assistant describing what its like?

    What do I need to do first before I can get into the field.. I don't have any deep in knowledge in science except the basics. I would love to get in this when I move to the states but really don't know how to go about it.

    I really needed to she this. I'm 23 bears old looking to start school again after years of trying . I know I can achieve greatness , whats some advice you would give to a case like me ? I'm a young man trying to find his way in life . I just want to make myself and my mom proud

      I took my first college classes at 20 years old, I flaked out. Took classes a gain at 22 years old, flaked out.
      My heart wasn't into it, and I had the idea that there's always next time.
      Well I'm in school again, at 43 yrs old. That "next time" didnt present itself till 20 years later. I quit a 20 yr. career to do what I should've done in the 1990s. My message here is do it while youre young, while it's easiest. Notice I didn't say easy, I said easiest. Unless you want college to be really difficult.

      Do it for yourself first. I'm sure your mom is already proud but you have to be great for you first and foremost. Believe in yourself, don't quit and don't let failure keep you down

      I think the key really is not to do it for anyone else but yourself. School can be hell (especially medical school) and you're gonna either end up falling out or miserable. Do what you feel is your calling.
