Both is the answer, therein lies the conundrum. A two-channel "Little Taco" or "Pink Sister" is the only reasonable solution.
PT out of those 2 but I think the Smallbox would work great for me. I need ACDC and EVH tones for the music I am playing these days. Such great sounding amps!
The Little Sister is a KICKASS little head. I'm not a big Friedman guy--I'm used to Uberschalls, Triamps and Rectos, but the Dirty Shirley amps are just *chef's kiss*
The little sister is so good they can barely play for more than a few seconds before having to stop and awe over the tone. So awesome.
I love the all black PT-20 but the Little Sister has killer tone! Classic.

Thanks for nice review guys! I’ve had Pink Taco (PT) since it was released and I still used it and love it. Reason: Dave Friedman knows how to voice amps so that you can hear each individual note when you play a chord. That’s it. It means there is not too much gain or not too much bass. For me the Little Sister(Dirty Shirley) is classic Malcom Young amp with it’s strenghts being in low gain sounds. PT is gainier, but not necessarily less traditional amp. You can get low gain out of it as well. If you want it all (more gain and good cleans), you go with Little Sister added with your choice of pedals. If you want just the right edge of breakup sounds or classic Marshall 800 gain, you go with Pink Taco. Only pedals you need is boost and delay with it. Everything else is piano playing, not rock’n’roll! 😂

These both really need a footswitch to toggle between gain structures - my Meaa Electradyne has this feature and it makes for a usable options playing live

I liked the clean channel on the Little Sister and the drive channel on the PT
Would be incredible to have both in a two amp setup: Little Sister set cleanish; add a low gain OD for your second gain stage; switch over to the Taco for gain stage #3. And if you need it you can run a boost into Taco for gain stage #4.
There's the Twin Sister, which is basically 2 Dirty Shirley in one, and 40w instead of 20w like the Little Sister.

I believe that the Little Sister being based on the Dirty Shirley it will also benefit from a clean boost into the preamp for magical high gain tone. (This is a "secret" of the Shirley circuit.)
Friedman amps are amps designed and made by an amp tech who knows his stuff, a reason the amps are superb!
The Dirty Shirley over the Taco any day of the week. I owned both at one point and ended up selling the Taco mainly because it lacked bottom and and just didn't have the voicing the Dirty Shirley has

Some great sounds but you can’t be going to your amp to change settings between songs on stage.

There is a really easy solution… get them both.
Friedman builds great amps. As stated, just find the one voiced for the flavor of choice.
Just so you know, Dave's designs are manufactured by BOUTIQUE AMPS DISTRIBUTION in Commerce, CA.
If the structure switch was foot switchable I'd purchase the PT20 instantly.

Hi, thanks for your interest! The Little Sister and PT20 V2 don’t have footswitch inputs. However, you could use a boost or overdrive pedal to hit the input harder for a similar effect.

They're not footswitch- able.. but Dave Friedman prides himself on how responsive the Amps are to guitar volume changes. Probably go clean to dirty with just guitar volume ? Stacked with the correct boost pedal= pretty versatile.
Sound great but i live in the uk. The Marshall factory isn’t far. The studio 20 watt amps they do are great.

My only fear is spending 1,500 for an amp that I cannot gig with.
I'd have to know that it will atleast get to 105 decibels with a 2x12 cab.

I'm very happy with my rig but I may take a ride to Atlanta to check out this Little Sister head after holidays.

call me crazy but i prefer the cut and bite of the PT over the LS
You'd have to play one yourself I find the pink taco lacks bottom end and just doesn't have the voice that the Dirty Shirley brings
I love that PT too, again you have to play these amps yourself in the same room before you throw the $$$’s
Such a shame Friedman Amps are so much more expensive here in Europe than Marshall's for example.
Marshalls are far more expensive in the US. Apparently it’s shipping and import taxes on both ends.

Choosing between the little sister and the Marshall studio jubilee is a tough call for me... maybe I just get a line 6 lol
I have both, In sound I prefer the little sister, in my experience the jubilee needs a boost pedal. I am impressed with the FRIEDMAN Amps. Also el84 tubes are cheaper than EL34, the construction seems pretty solid and with cathode bias there is no need for BIAS adjustment, in the long run little sister is cheaper to maintain…

I have the jubilee, been using it for about 8 years for practice and small gigs. It’s good, but the little sister here seems to have what I’ve been missing (although I can’t really explain what it is). I’m really close to ordering the LS!
