Freddie had full blown AIDS by this time, the symptoms of which are awful. Pain, fatigue, gastrointestinal problems, sarcomas - and the side effects of the medications available back then were pretty horrific too. So the fact that he could write songs like this and also sing them, is heroic in my book. Brian said he never complained either, and didn’t want sympathy or pity. He was not only amazingly talented, but also an amazing human being.
The Show must go on as opposed to Innuendo....the former being a rage against the dying of the light, a last moment of defiance before the shadows close in
This is a masterpiece in song, lyric, & visual. The message of this song is loud & clear!! The video was nominated for creative awards. Amazing! Before Freddie passed Queen was very creative with their later works - THE MIRACLE, HEADLONG, BREAKTHRU, SCANDAL, I’M THE INVISIBLE MAN, DON’T TRY SO HARD ...... OMG they’re the best!!
Wow, thats one of my favourite Queen songs. This song makes me appreciate Freddie and the guys even more. The lyrics are so good and Freddies voice, whow. Thankyou and keep up the good work dear. Much bless to You
I agree, this is one of their most profound songs. And my favorite. To me, it's about the human experience. There are mysteries, double meanings, innuendos, masks that cover reality. We should try to transcend living "according to race color or creed" and by pure greed and instead seek something more beautiful, more meaningful, whether it's inside ourselves or transcendent, even if we will never really understand what's behind it all. Freddie was primary composer/lyricist on this song, if I remember correctly, and it surely reflects what he was contending with as he knew his life was going to end sooner rather than later.
Main composer definitely As far as I know the main concept of the story and a lot if the lyrics were Freddie,he was working with Roger but wasn't well so Roger finished it Then they polished it up together I think anyway It feels more of a Freddie song to me if that makes sense especially the music But Roger did work in this as well
Epic song!!! The '60-70s lyrics helped define who I am and what we (as a country/world) were fighting for and after all this time we are still such a fucked up country, I fell like we have failed this current generation!!! 😞 Always stay optimist and I'm glad these songs and messages are still available!!!👍✌😃😎
Thanks for doing this one! It is a song that I, and I"m sure many others requested! yes, complex song for sure! and the music though starts sort of dark, is uplifting...
I love this song and the video, everything about it is perfection in my opinion. Your next Queen reaction should be White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith. Amazing song! Steve Howe (guitarist - YES band) plays the Flamenco guitar part on this song. He said it was so difficult that he did not think he could actually do it, but he smashed it. I believe this was an award winning video.
Absolutely. People underplay Roger's input in this song, and it's his influence, I believe, that takes it away from a very personal song about Freddie and makes it more relevent to the world. The message in Innuendo is the most powerful Queen ever put out, because it's not a song just a few people can relate to but all of us, every one and the message is for every one of us. Be free with your tempo be free, surrender your ego, be free to yourselves!
What I love about your reactions (apart from your beautiful smile) is the fact that you listen to the entire thing without pausing and then give insightful comments at the end. I like watching your face while you’re watching it. So many other reactors pause every 20 seconds saying they have to, to avoid getting blocked, but you manage to do it successfully and I for one appreciate it. I don’t think you can get the full impact of a song when you’re listening to it for the first time, if you keep stopping. Great job 👍 I think this song is a masterpiece along the lines of Bo Rhap, with its complex arrangement and change ups, and very clever lyrics. Thanks for doing this one, and come back soon
This story straight to No.1 in the UK, I still remember it 👍🏼 Try Princess of the Universe for your next song. It's a rarer song from the sound track for 'Highlander', It's a Kind of Magic gets more attention from that movie and it's a great song, but Princes is so unusual I think you might like it.
I bought the CD some days before the news said that Freddie Mercury had gone. I saw the cd for a low price and though I had not bought one of their cds of the 80ies I thought: Ok, for that price I will try it. I did not know that it was one of the greatest good byes ever and I did not expect that they returned to the quality that had made them so great in the 70ies. All in all I think that the whole album is one of their 3 greatest together with the 2 Marx Brothers albums and this special song maybe their best ever. I still enjoy that they showed with this album that their musical decline in the 80ies was only a temporary one and they were still able to do great stuff. Btw the Spanish guitar is played by Steve Howe. Some days later every fart they ever recorded was released or rereleased for more than the double price of this cd by some ghouls of the music industry. You could suddenly buy a lot of "Best of Queen".
THIS song, and its namesake album, are masterpieces. (Innuendo is my favorite album.) Freddie was near the end of his life at the time of recording this music for the Innuendo album (AND also for the later Made In Heaven album... which he recorded his singing for, KNOWING that the latter album w/b produced posthumously). So, to me, all of the lyrics are full of deeper meaning and messages to those that Fred knew he would soon be leaving behind.
Innuendo has always been one of my Queen favourites; surely appreciate your reaction, which surprised me. Yes, I thought you'd give, at best, gloss over applause. I'll be back to these wonderful thoughts of yours.
P.s., do check out the Wikipedia page, I forgot that Freddie was very near to his death at the time and really suffering with Aids when this came out: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innuendo_(song)
Loved when the drums first hit...your expression ...Roger says hi! This song has a lot to it both lyrically & visually. The backstory only adds to it. Great reaction.
Definitely. Brian May has the ability to write some of the most emotionally open and vulnerable songs and Save Me is one of his most emotional IMHO. The video to the single is amazing for sure, the effects were pretty new for music videos, especially when the dove becomes Freddie! However, I suggest a double video.... Follow the official video with the 1981 Montreal live performance as that possibly even better! Amazing performance with Brian on piano (he played on the studio version too) at the start (with guitar still strapped on) and Freddie taking over when Brian's solo comes calling! Brilliant!
For a fun rockin' Queen song you might try "One Vision" it kind of has a surprise at the end. Probably another quintessential Queen song on this same album is "The Show Must Go On". Some of my other favorites which are good "Friends Will Be Friends", "Princes Of The Universe", "A Kind Of Magic", "Who Wants To Live Forever" and "Gimme The Prize"
Awesome reaction! I am glad you really appreciated this song. It is really underrated! It is from Queen's last album Innuendo, which is a great album. Freddie was quite reflective, another great song from that album is Don't Try So Hard ruclips.net/video/b7kUc5RcMqc/видео.html. Another masterpiece from Queen that you have to check out is The Prophet Song ruclips.net/video/HzdjMLKKdgk/видео.html. Innuendo was a no.1 hit just a few months before Freddie's death. It is great that he had another epic no.1 hit just before his death, but for some reason the song has been somewhat forgotten. It is a great song.
I think that Freddie and Roger wrote this one...Freddie was already very sick and so it was very reflective..since he was sick he did not want to be seen as he was on video...he later changed his mind and did not want me to be remembered as an animated figure..so he did one last video, showing himself as he was very thin and frail but wanting to say goodbye to his fans before he passed...love your reactions..another nice message song that Freddie and John wrote for the same album is THE MIRACLE..there's a nice surprise
Since your dad plays organ, you might be interested in listening to James Brown playing the keys on "Jimmy Mack" his funky cover of the Motown hit. Yes, JB played some mean church organ in his day. Thanks Chod!
@@ernestquinch3395 Thanks for the recommendation. I finished watching it just now. Weird, but cool. I sent a link to my nephew who has dabbled in clay animation. That was like the 3rd or 4th song I have heard from Frank Zappa.
A couple years later, Weird Al released Jurrasic Park with a claymation video (parody of MacArthur Park). Before Innuendo, Peter Gabriel had the popular Sledgehammer 1986 video (which Weird Al partially parodied in his UHF music video in 89).
Chod as a note since you were in band in high school I highly recommend watching - Thundersoul - if you have not seen it or heard of it here is the trailer. ruclips.net/video/H-bSBqgJbTQ/видео.html
This was not about todays society. This song was personal. This song is about Freddie. He was dying and he was questioning life.
Freddie had full blown AIDS by this time, the symptoms of which are awful. So when did you get your medical degree?.....we didn’t need you to dig into Freddie’s illness...may God forgive you
A work of art - both the song and the video. One of Queen’s most underrated songs in my opinion.
This and Bohemian Rhapsody are the bookends of Freddie's career.
I would suggest 'Liar'... and this song...
The Show must go on as opposed to Innuendo....the former being a rage against the dying of the light, a last moment of defiance before the shadows close in
@@riverdart2068 yes, if you are just going for the end of the career and life.. I was going for the start and finish of the career...
@@drmorqWarrenProject As was I; I simply meant "The Show must go on" is a more appropriate ending of things song than Innuendo..
That’s Steve Howe from YES on acoustic guitar.
and Brian
That one hits me everytime directly in the heart.
“We’re still trying ....” AMEN to that!
This is a masterpiece in song, lyric, & visual. The message of this song is loud & clear!! The video was nominated for creative awards. Amazing! Brings tears to my eyes, knowing he was dying then 💔 clever use of past video clips, at times to look like he was singing the words to the song. ❤️

"Cool Cat" is yet another side of Queens hectogon...give it a listen, you could be very surprised LOL

Just love 'Cool Cat'
Hot Space is underrated 😌

Just adore innuendo!!
Good reaction men
That intro music - every time I watch one of your videos, I keep replaying it a few times.
Great reactions, great community/recommendations.
The beautiful Spanish guitar section was indeed played by Steve Howe from Yes. Queen specifically asked him to this part.
both played Steve and Brian
Some of the most important lyrics ever.....

Yes, when someone said it was just about Freddie dying I thought the same thing. I feel Roger's influence also
This is one of my favorite songs by Queen.

I think Innuendo is an instrumental masterpiece, one of Queens best numbers.
And what about the lyrics?

Also another good Queen song would be "March of the Black Queen" from their second album.

Always been a fan of queen in the 70s i thought they lost there way in the 80s. Found their mojo again at the end
Perfect song

Not only was the song great, but also the video. I can't recall another music video with clay animation.
Frank Zappa's 'City of Tiny Lights' music video is entirely clay animation. It was released 12 years before 'Innuendo'

Please, please check out “Keep Yourself Alive” as your next Queen reaction. It is one their first songs, good old rock n roll with mean drumming.
Debut single and first track on debut album.
What an amazing opener from the band that would go on to rule the world!
Other epic Queen songs you should react to: The March Of The Black Queen, Brighton Rock, The Prophet's Song
Also the Millionaire Waltz
I like to think of it as bohemian rhapsody part 2
Chicago-poem 58

React to some Black sabbath
