When americans say they feel safe when theres armed guards with rifles, that shows just how fucked up the situation really is. I've never seen an armed security guard where I live and nothing has ever happened to anyone I know

@@ThomasIsBored wow anecdotal evidence is so impressive, maybe your too blind to notice that nothing weapon related happened at the big scary bar either. The guards are not big dumb brutes that just think "me have big gun good" and instead used appropriate force (ie pepper spray) to deal with the problem. It could be in gang territory were there is a higher chance of a shootout between gangs happen which would make having long guns on the premises a very prudent decision. I can guarantee wherever you live has the same type of areas and smart businesses located there have whatever has not been banned by their coddling government for being too evil and scary so they can to protect against that. Name the country you live in and I'll educate you on the fucked up ways your fellow residents maim and kill each other and we can compare how its so much worse because its a gun shot instead of a stab wound or an acid burn or a curb stomp.

Having used OC spray 14 time's on duty & filled out 14 use of force pain compliance after action reports and am 14 for 14 being completely justified using the OC I can absolutely attest to the effectiveness of Sabre Red OC spray . I have also deployed a Taser 5 time's and had the Taser fail 3 of the 5 time's . OC spray is the way. Having had to "qual" or be "certified" in OC with two different jobs being fully sprayed I have learned how to control the pain you WILL absolutely go through every time you use OC . There has never been one time I didn't get residual contact with OC after deployment. The training definitely helped me to overcome the pain in a bad situation . OC spray works .

One of the great benefits is that while it hurts extremely bad its not long term and doesn't have any long term health consequences. The reason I carry a gel is because I'm the place I work, I'm indoors, and a fair amount of our clientele is older. God forbid I ever have to use it, but if I do, I want to effect ONLY the person I'm pointing it at. For general carry in public when I'm not working, I carry a stream aerosol instead, and for use from my car, I have a stream aerosol combination spray.

I imagine it has to be tough being a security guard in the days or weeks after some of these encounters for fear of retaliation-a drive-by, etc. I know these security guards might not be facing the level of danger that police consistently do, but they are certainly putting themselves in some risky positions, especially if your place of employment is a fixed location day in and day out.

Yesterday afternoon, I witnessed a verbal altercation that got VERY CLOSE to turning physical!
It happened at a McDonald's/gas station while I was waiting for an UberEats order to be finished. While I was waiting, I walked into the gas station to grab some lunch. As I was waiting in line to pay for my stuff(there was one customer ahead of me), some super tall, slender dude about 6' 6" or 6' 7" dressed in a white parka accosted the clerk. Couldn't make out a whole lot of what he was saying because he was using a lot of street slang, but he raised his voice, swore at the clerk, pointed his finger at him. Also at one point, he closed in on the clerk a bit with his head slightly tilted to try to intimidate the clerk. Now, this dude was unarmed, or at least he appeared unarmed.
By this point, it was my turn to pay for my stuff. Seeing all this happen in front of me, my adrenaline started flowing, felt my feet trembling a little. And I was thinking to myself "Oh boy! Looks like this is actually gonna happen. He's gonna throw down on that clerk." But I kept cool, used 4 Square breathing to stay focused and calm, and had my hand on my pocket, ready to pull out my pepper spray if I had to. Fortunately the guy left the station without assaulting anyone. The clerk had pulled out his phone and started dialing 911. That might've scared him off.
As I was paying for my stuff, I told the clerk that in case the guy returns and tries to assault him, I've got my pepper spray handy. And he was very relieved. The clerk pointed out to me that this guy had been here before, stealing from the station. The clerk then asked if he could have my pepper spray. He was so worried that it's just a matter of time before this guy comes back and assaults him. And so I thought "Oh. What the heck? Pepper spray is cheap and easy to replace." So I gave him my pepper spray. All the other customers were like "That's so nice of you!" Got to be a good Samaritan yesterday, just not in the way I expected lol.
P.S. I bought me a new pepper spray bottle at my local gun shop in case anybody is wondering.

I think O/C is a useful tool, but it’s not a game stopper. I feel like people think you spray someone and they get on the ground comply every time.
In my experience it’s a great equalizer. Now I can see and breath but they can’t see or breath.
