You must be kidding me. What can I say, I don't think I've EVER seen a project quite like this. People build ass sorts of stuff but this is out of left field. Nice work!
I'm gonna give some honest feedback here, I like the LED mod, hell, it could even be done with incandescent/filament bulbs for older decks if you like the yellow-ish color they give off, but I don't like the speaker mod, because you'll likely be using the deck as a component so the need for the built-in speakers is unnecessary, but all around you did a good job with it.
At first I was convinced you were going to kill that deck. Then I thought, well what the hell. That's all an aged 165 is worth (later I noticed that it was actually a 157). My final conclusion is: good job. Nice of you to have extended its life. PS. I simply adore the background noises, especially the chickeeeen :)
Когда под правильными руками такая техника есть дома , то почему бы и не поизвращаться . Если я так разберу свою дэку Дэнон , то её уже не кто не соберёт.😃👍
I like the LED mod, though I'd have probably used warm white to maintain the oldschool look, as back in the day they'd have used little incandescent bulbs due to LED lighting being in its infancy. But cool as it was to see you 3-D print your own speaker enclosures, volume dial and trim rings, I think I'd have left the cabinet alone. Still, enjoyed watching the process.

Awesome idea! If I were you, I'd of used a better amp board with treble and bass control. Simply cause you took the time to make good enclosure's, and cassette's sound muffled. Also Technics shoulda did that idea with the LED's that really bumpped up the look to it. Over all I give you "2 stars" LOL just kiding.... 10+!! Keep making stuff.
cassettes can sound muffled if they're not looked after and the equipment they're played on is not in good working order, but obviously they don't normally.
Even though you did the work flawlessly, I think the original cabinet shoud've left as it is. Those speakers on the top look like a cheap mod job. An eye sore. Apart from that your work is real good.
Испортил хорошую деку дешевыми динамиками с отвратительным звуком! Худшее, что можно было сделать. Пилите лучше свои музыкальные центры, там звук не имеет значения. Зачем портить хорошую технику.
People who replace cassette players in their boomboxes with Bluetooth make me cringe. This guy certainly would never do that, but I still don't agree with him putting built in speakers into the deck as it was never meant to be standalone, but rather a part of a hifi rack.
Good morning, excellent video tutorial!!!, I would like to do the same lighting job with my Technics RS TR515. Could you tell me what type of lamps and resistors I need to do it?
@@paullee5573 I would suggest getting a technics or any deck that has 3 head's or a really high end deck. I have the Technics M229X And the Techncis RS-TR355 or the technics M222 dual deck. They sound amazing but it does depend on what tape you use and your recording level's

Hello. Congratulations on your videos, they are really interesting. I tried to do some work on cassette decks: only I have difficulty inserting LED lights: in a couple of devices every time I inserted the LED lights connected to the motor, it worked faster. Can you tell me how to do a good job and the exact resistors I should use? Thank you Vittorio from Italy
Its just one of those dual well cassette decks and there are tens of thousands of those everywhere on eBay. If it were a valuable one then it might be conerning. But this is pretty cool and its awesome to see such devices repurposed! Plus it aint too hard to desolder the speakers if he wanted to
@@xjmczar it’s still a really decent one, which are getting harder to find in good working condition. Desoldering the speakers won’t fix the gaping holes he put in the top of the deck.
I agree. I spend my time restoring these RS-TR series and sell them on Ebay. I cant stand to see them butchered (and thats being kind) or scavagened for parts. I have yet to find one I cant fix.
@@TE. The tape deck has 4 RCA plugs, 2 of which are used for the Line Out. The other ones are normally used as Rec In, so that you can record an audio signal onto an audio cassette. My question was about using that Recording Input as a Line Input for a Cd player/Bluetooth receiver, even if there is not any audio cassette to record the signal on when the external device is playing. Being able to do so would make it a nice vintage-looking all-in-one system.
Than Hái, could you do a video of how to connect the LEDs, so they light up with the powerswitch on the tapedeck? I would like to do that with my Denon DRM-740. Nice video btw👍

Yeah, i like the led mod too. Would be even nicer (imo) if the lights went on and off with the power switch instead of the capstan motor.
You could use a different colour maybe. I think i will try red LEDs in my tapedeck.

It's not hard either. You imply I think it looks bad..it doesn't. It's more that the machine is ruined, turned into something generally worthless now.

The LED mod is very cool. I might try that with one of my decks too. Thanks for showing how to do it TE.

Good work but I'm thinking if those big speaker's magnets inside of the machine aren't detrimental to the sound.
They look like magnetically shielded speakers from an old tv, they should fine. :)

Surprised you didn't just trash this thing entirely by getting rid of the cassette compartments and replacing them with stupid bluetooth or mp3.
