Love it. I'm going to buy the new Red shifters this Summer to retrofit to my AXS gravel race bike. Passing and turning during a gravel race is always a risky proposition and I spend 90% of my time on the hoods.
With the Florida sales tax it cost $15,600. For that price I better get wheel balancing included.

Correction, I was a chemist working in ink and paints develop and matt white is one of the heaviest paintjobs possible not the lightest. White paints are extremely dense because the pigment is twice the density of water and makes up at least 50% of the formula. Also matt coating can weigh shit load because it's the same as gloss but has to be loaded with extra glass beads to break up the light.

So, what is the lightest way to paint a bike, especially if you want something cool or unique? Personally I want my bike to have a clearcoat gloss to show the carbon underneath but with a blue to red fade color.
Specialized is totally missing the boat with this bike. Only a $500 increase? The price of an S-Works should be $18,000-$20,000. The customers that have $14,500 to buy this bike surely have $20,000. At $20,000 that will make these customers feel even MORE special. Gotta keep those wealthy egos juiced up!

Yea, This is a pro bike, they figure they must charge 14k for some reason if somebody wants it.
Its kind of crazy that something like a dirtbike with 1000+ more components and a mixture of rare metals, plastic, and shock system can be bought and modded to expert level for the same price with money still left over.

Genuine question: what are the profiles of people who buy 14+k bikes? Are they obese dentists? Are they 50 year old dudes with no training in the legs? Are they racers who're actually legit? I can spend 15k on a bike, but i never will because it just feels silly. So i really wonder who the customers are?
guy who bought this bike is retired young successful who rides 5 times a week, doesn't race, just smashes pedals in group rides and loves the sport for riding and also watches as a fan.. this is what he enjoys, he also has nice cars.... he just likes high end things and he can afford, really fast guy no lie doesnt want to race

2025 model and 54cm coming with 42cm bars and 172.5mm cranks? And 26c tyres. If I were buying, I’d be insisting on 40cm, 170mm and at least 30c tyres (probably 32c though) and a 140mm rear rotor. £14.5k and already compromised? Spesh need to work on their game for 2026!
Yea I’ll be honest, immediately when someone buys a new bike from us that’s complete the first thing they ask to swap out handlebar and stem. Which the dealer eats that. And then crank arms or cassettes

The price increase is totally negligible but I'd rather a discount for older Red equipped SL-8s than an increased price for a new one. More of a principle thing. Canyon Europe marked down their old Red bikes by 1k.

yes how I weigh all my bikes you can have 50 gram cages or you can have 12 gram cages you can have ceramic titanium axle pedals or budget pedals..... those play a huge part in final weight, take the weight of your own setup bottles and cages and add it to this bike, that is your reference

Pretty sure most of the new red group set is still heavier than Dura ace, I'd rather get the Dura ace with no crank, get a rotor or one of those Chinese carbon cranks and will be instantly 100+ grams lighter than this

so this bike is listed form specialized as 2025, because of the new sram I am sure this will carry over into the new catalogue around june july time, example the new colors, and i am assuming the new duraace will get price increase to 14500 as well once because 2025.... but cars and bikes get released mid year, this just had to come out early because of the launch

Depends on where you live. I know here in Pittsburgh nobody is throwing down that kind of money for a bicycle. In fact the Specialized store, Pro Bike + Run, is always dead. And they don't just sell biking stuff, they sell stuff for runners also. But I never see more than one or two people ever going in there. They have another location near the park but it has a cafe where you can sit and eat but that's all people go in there for is the food. I never see bikes like this around here.

man I love Specialized stock colors but you need to put in a complaint to the weather gods so you can get some sunlight for your parking lot showcases. This is like the fourth dream build video I've watched from GC that it's cloudy and the colorways just don't pop! (I have a couple of S-works bikes and the paint shows way way better in sunlight, especially in comparison to how dull their website photos always look).
the thing about halo priced products here is that car aficionados will spend high six figures for super- or seven figures for hypercars, or if you want a real nice sport touring you buy an AMG Mercedes or BMW M3. People with that kind of money can drop it without a second glance. Spesh makes a Tarmac full build starting at $3800, or an Allez for $1200. Last I checked, you can't get the equivalent value priced model variants from Mercedes or BMW.
For me I find S-Works frames from Specialized or thru my dealer, often closeout model years at 20-30% discounts, then spec them with components of my choice. About to swap my 3yo Aethos frameset up to the new Red stuff, because the frame is still in perfect condition. I'm old, have disposable income to do this, and it's a love letter to my 23 year old Cat2 self who couldn't afford jack at the time and was racing national series events on stuff cobbled together from my teammates' junk boxes.
