Awesome work Hayden, Camper Trailers definitely get neglected in the sense of getting help to upgrade simple things and making them easier to use. Im in the process of upgrading things on our ezytrail, just to make things easier and actually adding quality bits that will ensure happy camping. keep the vids coming
Thanks Andre appreciate the words mate and your right. The camper trailer repair and mod market is difficult as there is so much money in caravans. Good luck with the mods of the ezytrail!
hi, im in the ipswich area, nice to see some one local helping people out with mods and electrical, weve just bought our first camper, and im looking at a few mods soon, cheers,
Rookie error alert: the spare tyre needs to be behind the stone guard. Rocks thrown up by the car will bounce off the tyre and hit the back of the car and smashed back windows are a common result. I've seen it happen twice on work colleague's Landcruisers when working in the north of WA and its not uncommon to see back windows on tow vehicles smashed and taped up on the youtube videos, or when driving in remote areas.
@@peterwright4467 your opinion is noted. I am giving an account of my personal experiences and am only talking about driving on unsealed roads. Anyway, hopefully others will see the logic.
Buy cheap, "get" cheap! The other thing that occurred to me, was, that the batteries are sitting on a hard surface. Putting an inch thick piece of good foam rubber, as a shock absorber, under them, will assist making them last a lot longer. And how do we get in touch with the guru fixer?!
Yo this is awesome! i just got meself a 2nd hand alpha, and would love to do a few things do it, 1, its missing those little side panels closer to the front, and the biggest thing is the water pump!! i to really hate the hand pump, i found myself just using the water jerry cans for water, so i really wanna do the pump, could you give me a bit of a closer look by any change?
Hey mate he is still doing it, unsure if you have reached out yet your not but your welcome to email me thorleyhayden@gmail.com. He currently has about an 8 week lead time lol he is getting smashed with work
Hi , You mentioned that your inlaw does mods in SE Qld . Could I get the contact details as looking at getting solar and battery system fitted . Thanks John
Hey mate. I've picked up a second hand 8x4 camper trailer made by AusTrailers in Sydney. The 12v system in it at the moment needs to be redone. Would really appreciate a materials list of what parts you used on your setup if possible.
Hi Hayden, thank you for your video. I am a complete novice, a single female and have just bought my first camper trailer. You mentioned quite a few things that I would like to put on my camper. I have already bought my power system and went for an itech 3000W power pack and 300w solar blanket. Could I please have your father in laws number so I can get some details. I don't know if my camper has some of the power sockets that yours has, but would like them. I have purchased a hot water system as well. Thank you in advance. Chris Hodder
Hello! Thanks for your reply and apologies for the delayed response! Unfortunately my father in law has now retired due to injury however any good local auto electrician will be able to help! I’ve noticed since posting this video some auto electricians are doing cost effective mods to camper trailers now. Best of luck!
Hey Richard, not so much a need to drum up work but more to share with the community that someone can help if they need. My father in law was able to help around 5 other camper trailers off the back of this video which is a good thing. Glad to hear you have had no issues with trailer mate
I've just purchased the same trailer and I will definitely be doing these modifications. I noticed you have put gas struts on the side doors. Where did you get these from or do you know the length so I can source myself. All round great job. I live in Sydney NSW
Hey mate, the struts came standard on these I believe. I certainly didn't install the struts on the side doors. But I do know Bunnings has an awesome range of struts now if that helps.
I just bought a Black Series Sergeant, could I please get the contact details so I can get some mods done on ours if he’s still running his side business. Cheers!
Hey mate, apologies for the ridiculous delay in responding completed didnt see the comment! From bunnings you can get weather shield foam tape like this: www.bunnings.com.au/moroday-9-x-9-5mm-x-5m-grey-nbr-foam-tape_p0077668?gclid=Cj0KCQiAraSPBhDuARIsAM3Js4rF0XHy-STuFfUcH6pnvW3ae7VJZ0w8HQsCCLd3rpuf-83hsPCPfFoaArtWEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds It works a treat and offer 95% weather protection, good luck mate
Hey mate, great vid! it looks like the old boy has put in a lot of effort. Who made your tent cover? and what did it cost? i'm in the market for a new one
G'day Hayden. I'm interested in setting up a duel battery system on my trailer and a few other modifications. Whats the chance of getting in touch with your father in-law. I'm on the north side of Brisbane as well.cheers
Hi Robert, thanks for the comment mate! Unfortunately the father in law has recently come out surgery and has quite a long recover period and won't be taking on any work for the next 6 months. I do have another contact who may be able to help. Send me an email thorleyhayden@gmail.com and I will connect you! Thanks again
Hi Hayden I just brought a 2015 lifestyle and I would like to install a redarc battery management system and some additional points could i please have the details if he would be interested
Hi Luke, Really appreciate your comment and would be happy to connect with father in law. Honestly not sure the best to connect from the comments section of RUclips. Maybe send me an email thorleyhayden@gmail.com and I can give you his direct details. Thanks again mate
I know this is a stupid question but when you have a 6x4 diy camper trailer does it have to be registered in Victoria? I’m asking as 6x4 trailers and lower are exempt
Hi Tamara, as im based in QLD im not 100% on the laws but i do believe if it has a capacity rating of under 750kg it doesnt require registers however a fully loaded diy box camper trailer may exceed this and it would be safe to tow it down to VIC Main Roads department and have them confirm, youd hate for it to back fire on you for trying to $100 per year
Hey mate appreciate the comment, unfortunately my father in law is booked out until March now can you believe it. Your welcome to email me thorleyhayden@gmail.com and if any of the jobs fall.through he can reach out to you. Thanks again mate
well done thats excellent mods......i fabed my own trailer ,,1.5 kilowatts of solar panels ..420 amp hours of battries i can go for weeks now
Any tips, David?

great setup! wish he has in Victoria. need someone to do work on my camper trailer
Hi mate. I'm so glad I came across your vid. I'm in Ipswich and need some extras like you've had to my old camper trailer. Would love to have a chat.

Breaking the back window with rocks is 1 in a million, a set of good mud flaps will stop that

Hey mate just wondering what price I would have to pay to get the same wireing done on my camper
Hi mate just wondering if your father inlaw is still doing mods to trailers. Bought an alpha and like some of the mods he's done.

Quick question. What fuse did you wire in for the rear fridge connection?
There was a 10amp inline glass fuse behind but the fridge also has a built in fuse for protection against over surge 👍
heavey Wire carries more Current not Voltage
