    Most devoted Ghost fans know who this ghoul is... indeed he is a mysterious person who reveals his true self behind masks...and there is no doubt, especially now, that this man is an emotional, intelligent, precious guy. I can't help but love him to death.

      +evattmab These guys put on a very fantastical show. You know, the Anti-Pope and all that. But if you actually think about the lyrics, the themes that they've gone through over the course of their career, etc. you'd have to be very shortsighted to say that this isn't a band comprised of some very intellectual people. Immature at times, but definitely a vast intelligence.

      exactly.... and people (haters) who focus on the masks&Satan gimmick and don't give them a chance to explore them, can't see that.... :/

      This interview alone is an essential watch for anyone into Ghost... it exposes him as a true musician.. solely in it for the music, never just dwelling on success. People will bash him for "selling out" and all this shit, but he genuinely means what he says, he'll never be quite happy as a musician because there's always more to do. That's the defining characteristic of a true musician.

    He's so sweet. He cannot be blamed for any recent issues on the group. That goes to the management of the group. I just want to hold his hands.. sorry if that's weird but for some reason I do haha.

    Special Ghoul crying... :'( Oh my heart.....

    • @Corvid
      @Corvid 6 лет назад +12

      Special Ghoul is more than just a musician... I feel like Special Ghoul and the message behind Papa are truly worthy role models for young men, which is something the world needs right now, SO badly. To see a grown man comfortable enough in himself to express the loss of his Uncle Lemmy is really special. I'm sure it's not his intention (because that itself would undermine how genuine the message is), but he's bringing a truly positive message to America, a country that needs a serious wake-up call... sure, Papa is on stage talking about the female orgasm because it winds people up, and that's why we love Papa! But the impact of that on people is beyond words... I suppose he himself had a great role model in Lemmy, who was a fearsome character if you pissed him off, but genuinely one of the most humble, down to earth, nicest guys out there. Ironically, the band with a pope like figure who is no stranger to preaching, has ended up preaching a wonderful message, while at the same time having an absolute laugh, and being the musical polar opposite of the Catholic church!
      I can really relate to him... I've got my own inspiration in Al Jourgensen of Ministry (appropriately known by fans as Uncle Al), and I know that when he dies, I will mourn him like an Uncle.

  • @gabriba

    I'm seeing it over and over again, can't believe that he cried! It broke my heart!

    • @Corvid
      @Corvid 6 лет назад +9

      You must have read the translation of his interview on a Swedish radio station on Reddit... towards the end he talks about the death of his older brother, it's absolutely heartbreaking. He's a superhuman musician but behind it all he's a real person... more real than most people I think, if he can share those feelings with us.
      I can hear he's exploring in the music what it really means to be human... we're such a strange species. Many animals feel emotion and loss... most of the Corvid family of birds (one of the reasons I love them so much!) actually grieve, and appear to hold a funeral when one of their group dies, but they're not capable of feeling loss quite like we are. We make ourselves out to be the strongest animal on the planet, but all the extra awareness which allows us to feel joy and love lets us feel pain, and loss as well.

      +Jack 3.5mm Fans know who he is ;) But there is no point on trying to convince anyone, since major Ghost fans enjoy not knowing. But that moment was so precious, since everything they do is so well played and yet we saw a moment of real person behind that mask. Amazing interview. All of it.

      Jack 3.5mm IMO what made this interview better than most was the way Spokes Ghoul seemed genuinely engaged in the conversation. Each question mattered therefore his answers were poignant & personal to him. So whatever you the interviewer did to get him invested in the conversation keep on doing. As a newer fan I'm much more interested in knowing the essence of the members than I am in patching a face or name to them. Thanks to you for doubling down my fandom. I hate when I find out someone I supported is actually a royal ass_ole. ♡ from one Ghost fan to another.

    Special Ghoul had said in one of his first interviews, that he had lost his older brother not long before he himself starting touring, & he was very close to him. I feel bad that he lost him, & so early on. I have two sisters, that I never want to lose, because I will be losing a huge part of myself. He is very logical, but also very in tune with his feelings, & exactly what he wants. He has achieved much I believe. He would be a great person to get to know for real. I would think it hurt him a lot when he lost Omega, & the rest of his previous group deep inside. It would me.

  • @HighwayJoe
    @HighwayJoe 8 лет назад +34

    Every time I hear this interview, I react to the note of... panic? Of emotion (anyway) when he says, "It's never going to end!" Then the interview segues into his thoughts on Lemmy, and it just becomes classic. I don't know if we live in a time anymore where documentaries will be created (in the far off future, re: Ghost) that feature "old interview footage," but if we do still live in such times, then this interview needs to be included. Bravo, Jack 3.5mm!

As evidenced when he spoke of Keith's 'still caring' he too cares about what they have created, It really shows, in my opinion.. what a class act he is. Kudos to you for giving him the space required to answer the questions completely, Jack 3.5mm

  • @Corvid

    Perfect interview for anyone saying they're "selling out" with songs like Rats or Square Hammer... it's so clear that they're just going with what feels right, and making the music they WANT to make. Success doesn't come into it, they're constantly developing, coming up with new ideas. The world doesn't need any more bands with the "Iron Maiden" philosophy. Fair enough, you know what you're getting with each new album, but when you're doing something truly special, it's such a waste to find a winning formula and just keep using it to death. If they carry on as they are, they're heading for a place in music history... they've done SO much in the last 10 years, laying the foundations for stepping into the worldwide recognition that's coming to them.
    If you look at the careers of Muse and Rammstein (two other bands who don't easily fit into one genre, took 8-10 years of hard work to solidly establish themselves, and are renowned for their stage presence, musicianship and most importantly, their mystique), Ghost are about to release one of the most critical albums of their career. This is their Reise Reise, the album that introduced Rammstein to English speakers the world over, or Black Holes and Revelations which reinforced the past two albums and put Muse on the map as a true heavyweight rock band, doing something pretty unique. When you strike gold with songs like Plug In Baby/Hysteria/Knights of Cydonia, or Du Hast/Feuer Frei/Keine Lust, you have to keep moving onward. The change and development album to album is what wins over fans years/decades down the line...
    Despite their image and vocal subject being off-putting to some followers of religion, Ghost have got a LOT going for them too... if you can make it in America, you're already half way there. Muse fucked off bothering with America for years due to a label disagreement, and Rammstein struggled immensely due to unfair stereotypes, and the relative inaccessibility of singing purely in German. If a strange British rock trio and a bunch of frightening looking German guys can make it, Ghost are on the way to the top. They've succeeded in a country with strong Christian values, and they sing in English. I genuinely look forward to seeing them rise to the top after Prequelle is released. Mark my words fellow Ghost disciples, you're actually going to start getting tired of people saying "Hey, have you heard of this awesome band called 'Ghost'?". Rammstein were Germany's best kept secret... you saw perhaps 15 people over a whole 5 day festival wearing Rammstein tee shirts... now you can't walk for more than 5 minutes without seeing someone wearing one!

    This is Papa. He dresses as a Nameless Ghoul for interviews but that's really not suppose to be known. He and Omega do most if not all the interviews. Omega is bigger and his word articulation is much different not to mention his tone. Alpha has a very strong accent and you can hear it well in a interview he did showing off his guitar. Papa uses his hands a lot when he speaks also.

    I think a lot of people took Motörhead for granted. They never had a breakup and therefore they never had the massive audience. If they would have broken up in the late 80's and made a comeback tour in the early 2000's they would have filled the huge arenas just like Kiss, Black sabbath and Iron maiden did. You care about the things you are afraid to lose. Therefore, it was a huge blow to people when Lemmy actually died. I think many had bad conscience for not showing Motörhead the respect they deserved while they were actually around, making albums, making tours. I am glad I was one of the people who did. I went to see them on every tour. I bought all their albums. Even though there was never any hype. Maybe that is why I am not as upset now when he is gone. I have the memories and I know I showed my respect.
    Go out and buy a Motörhead album in the memory of Lemmy, guys! And you know what? Go out and buy an album with a band that actually exist as well. You will feel better about yourself when they are gone.

    I'm just curious as to why it's ALWAYS the same "ghoul" who does all the interviews?? It's OBVIOUSLY Tobias ....we know that.... I just wonder if it's one of his "rules", ( since he runs everything), that he , alone, gets to do interviews..... I'd really like to hear from the other members,....ie...their likes/dislikes, influences, goals,...etc....etc....Am I the only one who feels this way?

    Can someone help me here, is he just crying about Lemmy or is there a personal story for him that he got reminded of?

    • @stefandimovski3081
      @stefandimovski3081 8 лет назад +7

      ya I guess its a bit of both. In short, its basically like losing someone you thought was the shit, and showed you what rock n roll/metal was all about. sad situation, but also motivation to keep on rockin. hope this explained lol.

      He had an older brother Sebastian who unfortunately died of heart failure in 2006.

      Lemmy's death was VERY recent at that point too (a matter of months). Even 6 months later, the vibe at Download Festival 2016 was one of mourning for Lemmy, it really hit people hard.. he was such an important figure in the whole of heavy metal, and it was one of the biggest losses in metal since Dio. It was tough losing musicians like Paul Gray and Mike Scaccia (Slipknot and Ministry are huge parts of my musical inspiration), but Lemmy was one of those omnipresent characters who everyone knew, and so many people spent their whole lives with him as an inspiration. I wouldn't expect many of my friends to know who Mike Scaccia was, but everyone knew Lemmy.
      Like you say, it's very personal to him... losing someone so important as a role model and a musical inspiration is tough, especially when music is such a huge part of your life.

    My english is not too good and I try to catch every word which he says, but I still don't understand why he is crying when he talks about lemmy's death. And why this is associated with his brother?

    • @maxschreck5847
      @maxschreck5847 6 лет назад +6

      His brother's death was a huge loss to him. His brother was 13 years older and would watch him, take him to record stores and to concerts. His love of music comes from his older brother. The day Papa uploaded the first Ghost songs to Myspace was also the day his brother passed away. His brother never got to see him live his dream and become a rock star. Lemmy's death was hard for a lot of metalheads, but it could have brought up old feelings because he was losing another of his heroes.

    So I know that 80-90% of the interviews are made by the same person the dude from this video (you can hear this Nameless Ghoul's voice and see that this voice is "talking" in almost all Ghost interview. A lot of people here in youtube assume this is Papa but why? It is true that the interviews are made by the same guy almost every time, he has a distinguishable voice but why people think this is Papa?

    • @tomasfischer3659

      Once you recognise the voice you know... you can also tell he's the creative force behind the band. He knows everything there is to know about the influences and process of the music creatively, because he's the one behind a lot of it.

    Papa & the original Omega were the most theatrical there could be. Now that Omega is gone, only Papa seems theatrical, the others seem more animated than theatrical. Like they are trying too hard.
