- Fishing inside GSMNP was not what we thought it would be like. It was very challenging, the fish were very picky and hesitant, and there were tons of spots for us to explore. We opted out and went to the near by tourist town of Pigeon Forge hoping to get on some trout!

It warms my heart to see someone else practicing catch and release. I mainly Fly Fish, but where I live the options for C&R streams are not that good. Most of the streams are Put and Take, which tends to draw those who leave trash and keep everything to "Feed their family". SMH!
Yeah. My lady and I are usually C&R unless we’re backpacking, so we’ll keep them out of necessity but usually only enough for a meal.

What lb test line were you using? And mono or fluorocarbon?
I am currently using the 2lb P-line CXX-Xtra Strong Copolymer line. It’s an improved version of mono.
Where did you get the map?
At any of the visitor centers or the campground kiosks in the park. 🤙

We got the map from our campground kiosk at Elkmont. But I’m confident you can find the maps at the visitor centers.
