The metal frets aren't there, absolutely, but there are lines on the neck where the frets would be. Still very difficult, but not comparable to violin or viola
Your bass solo reminded me of when I was a young boy playing metal slug on the psp with my brother. I didn't know it yet but those were the greatest moments of my life. Your playing has made me feel melancholy and pulled on my heart strings and I wept... Thank you for that i will subscribe to you.
My friend, I don’t mean to put anybody down but you’re playing is bar none, you have to be the best bassist I’ve ever heard including all the top dogs, I watched almost all your videos you got crazy speed. It’s like you never miss a beat it’s crazy.
I see the Morphine record! Mark Sandman was so awesome and unique. I think he played a fretless with two strings and a slide. He suggested to Claypool to use a bullet mic and that's why he does sometimes to this day and it says Sandman on the mic.
This makes me wanna get a fretless even though I don't own any basses. Amazing sound, awesome technique and a beautiful instrument. P.S. Nice Morphine Album.
I'm a guitar player that's trying to learn how to play the bass, I never know how to incorporate all of the various right-handed techniques I'm going to be studying this guy's videos for a while
Thanks Ido, glad you're digging it! These recordings are available in highest quality audio on my Bandcamp, you can also find extended versions and new mixes there. Here's a link: remcohendriks.bandcamp.com/ Any support is greatly appreciated, cheers!
my daughter is 2 years old, and anytime I can sense a tantrum/meltdown coming, I start blasting Remco and her instincts kick in and she does that primeval toddler dance where she bends her knees in rhythm to the music. Then we get a snack and her woes are forgotten
The fact that you played this so in-tune is very impressive!!! I remember learning viola and how difficult it was to stay in-tune with no frets

@@MinecrafterRedstoner it’s just the speed at which he is fretting, and on multiple strings at once
I have a fretless too, but I could only dream of pulling off something like this. Mad props to the OG. I've watched your vids since like 10 yrs ago.
If you practice you can.

The tone of this bass has to be my favorite of all time.
I'm pretty sure he's using an octaver .. there's an octave down when he hits the high notes
frets are just finger prisons, and the man trying to tell you what notes you're allowed to play
Stick it to the man
But they are good for who's learning too, i would be much more lost if i didn't have frets in my guitar neck.
@@buffet2587 they are also good for playing notes that are tuned to any other instrument
@@ameeraccle stick it to the man-salad
So that's why you can't play barr-chords on a fretless guitar, because no prison without bars.
The way remco can switch rest stroke and free stroke finger style always impresses me
The opening theme of my non existing fav cartoon TV show! Awesome cover!
Complete devotion seems to lead to a very unique style with endless and borderless freedom. I love it ❤️🎶✅✌🏻
You truly show the fact that bass on its own really is an amazing instrument and deserves as much credit as the rest
Absolutely unbelievable, WOW!!
0:22 who knew Microsoft Sam had such a great singing voice?
this randomly plays in my head at least twice a day
Awesome !!! Thank you for Marvellous bass lesson. Love you 😃

Love everything about Your Music and Always a Great Way to Start the Day 😊
Some devilish right hand work goin on there.
Fretless bass and Remco were made to be together more than anything!
Was inspired by you and got a fretless some time ago. There truly is so much freedom to fretless bass and I love it so much.

Pretty sure the bass was fretted. But he did use a slide
@@redbluemango7902 yep you're right. I just assumed from the sound

Man your plucking technique is amazing!
I agree very much!! ?😅

What can I say, great tone, great groove, exceptional player.
God darn you're good with a fretless bass man
Tapping on Fretless!!!! Amazing!!!
not sure if I'm more impressed by your playing or your album & CD collection......nice finish!!!
Last time I was this early Remco’s hair was big long enough to show in the video
I mean the beard is long enough now
Yeah, where has it gone?
I'm new to this channel why he not showing that hair no more?

Love your melodic & unique style of playing!
MR Pastorious would be proud. I dig that outtro. So unique.
He Is much better than Jaco pastorious
Amazing as always
This put my ears into funk heaven for a hot minute
Epic.
AMAZING WORK! I love this bro, so unconventional.
Wow. Just wow. Everything he plays I'm like, "I wish I would've thought of that!" Great job! 😎🇺🇸
What does America have to do with any of this lol
I loved that. I was so entertained I watched the whole video. And I have a super short attention span. So amazing job I absolutely loved it
You have a special gift! Absolutely incredible!
This is insanely good. Where can we support you Remco for providing those incredible tracks?

@@RemcosGrooveLab thanks for the information. I think we're all in need of a much bigger dose of your brilliance.
מה קורה עידו?
This is brilliant. These are sounds I’ve never heard before.
the things I would do to see a bass battle/jam between Remco and Claypool...
my daughter is 2 years old, and anytime I can sense a tantrum/meltdown coming, I start blasting Remco and her instincts kick in and she does that primeval toddler dance where she bends her knees in rhythm to the music. Then we get a snack and her woes are forgotten
You made another epic just as good as the last one that original video started my love for bass thanks
The Morphine LP on the background represents perfectly the philosophy of this perfomance ❤
Remco must be from outer galactic bass space. Completely insane.
EXCELENTE TRABAJO
MUCHAS GRACIAS
UN FUERTE ABRAZO DESDE SANTIAGO DE CHILE
Here comes that dump truck of pluck funk again. Amazing work brother. You are my favorite bass player. Been picking for 20 plus years, and you inspire.
That groove at the start was incredible
Sounds so good
i accidentally clicked this video, but i am not in the slightest bit peeved. you captivated me immediately. very funky, very nice.
I wanna bass player who writes bass lines like this in my band. It could make for a really original and complex yet VERY catchy sound.
The guitar cords behind this along with some singing would make an amazing song
Dear lord, that’s incredible!!
this sounds like an acid trip
It's the copu of "Cure for Pain" in the back ground that makes this truly legit.
This is something singular, I can't say "I've heard this from some other player" or "He sounds like..." he sounds like Remco and that is enough.
Essa música é um orgasmo auditivo
your grooves are Godly
Oh YEAH!! One your best yet!!!
you sir are brilliant. keep em coming
Amazes me all the time
I feel like I just experienced the future of music.
The grooviest of grooves has returned!
Dude, you have some beautiful basses and some serious talent.
This is the coolest thing I have ever heard.
BEAST MODE
oh ya. Love those notes inbetween the equal temper.

That Morphine album is great!
Fantastic as always Remco!
I love this sound!
This man is a legend. Period
As soon as this started it reminded me of Morphine and then I saw the record in the back. Killer as always, super nice jam
Some of that sounded like an intense boss battle from old school games.
Always dope
i love this, your playing feels alive
BRAVO!
Here i go, on a new adventure 😁
Beautiful !
Pure awesomeness
Just awesome man. Perfect thing to come to after skoo

I liked this only because they don't have a love button! Awesome bass ....as always.
Amazing job
I love sound that this has
Damn! Some cool stuff in here. This one is epic! That ending!
I’m definitely one of your newest biggest fans my dude! I’m still a beginner bass player, but stuff like this is so awesome!
Oh, that slide tapping after 1:10 was WAY too short. Six seconds is not nearly enough for a grown up bass junkie like me.
Awesome sound! Great way to start my day
Absolutely amazing. I want to be like you when I grow up! (I'm 64.)
Ooh! I like the octave pedal on fretless. Good sound from the Dual Coil. I have two of them on a Skyline 55-60.
Oh, damn, it's so sweet in my earholes.
Amazing❤
