  • Suspected blown head gaskets in your Duramax? Try this first! I replaced thermostats, overflow tank, and cap. All seems to be good now. I was certain the head gaskets were smoked, but maybe not!

    You should try a combustion gas test on it, sure fire way to know if it's head gaskets

    What was it doing??? There is also a coolant block off plate by the starter in the back of the engine, it also leaks from there.

    Great video, my 2012 duramax has a leak in the seam that’s right at the minimum line and coolant is seeping out all around the right side of the tank . What a stupid design!

    Have you tried the DMax yet? Had GM mechanic tell me that's definitely what mine was. Reservoir tank will be here tomorrow.

      Unfortunately, I left for deployment before testing it to much, but to be honest, I still think my headgaskets are smoked.

    Curious what you determined. Having an issue with my 15 drinking alittle bit of coolant. It’s not much maybe a 1/4 of a cup or 1/2 a cup over 600 miles. No water in the oil fuel mileage is the same no cylinder pressure in the tank after driving and turning the truck off. Even rented a leak down kit from orielly and found nothing. I’m very stumped at this point and ready to just run it till it quits if I can’t figure it out

      Is it leaking out the overflow tank?

      @brennanbrubaker2038 Год назад

      @@bschoenborn no it isn’t, it doesn’t appear to even be pushing any into the overflow. I feel like I saw some steam coming out of the seam on the tank but I have looked multiple other times and see nothing. I’m at a loss as to where my coolant is going

    Great Video Brandon!
    Now that it has been 2 months, did the tank fix it? I have a similar issue and was told to replace the tank. I still don't understand how a tank could create this problem.

      I left for deployment a few days after this video and didn't really get a chance to drive the truck much... however I do not believe it 100% fixed the problem unfortunately!

    You have a bleeder screw on your housing. Get that air out.

    Also, get some BLUE DEVIL it will not harm your engine. it's liquid glass, and it's amazing. It's $80, but if it dont work, you can get your money back. But seriously, open thst bleeder screw and grt the air out.

      So the bleeder connected to the coolant thermostat housing needs to be opened ? On lmls?

    • @GregoryJohnston77
      @GregoryJohnston77 Год назад

      @Ricardo Garcia yes, it will mKe ypur life easy. If you dont bleed the air out, the truck will over heat, also turn your heater on full blast when bleeding the air. By doing that, you are circulating the whole system.

    Basically I think you just diagnosed your own problem you got a brand new reservoir you put coolant in it drove it came back the coolant level was slow that means coolant has been lost you are in denial and I am in denial for you because that is a hard pill to swallow and I may have to swallow it also after the purchase I just made on this truck

    • @bschoenborn
      @bschoenborn  Год назад +2

      Definitely a hard pill to swallow. I ended up doing the headgasket job myself. Not too crazy hard, but its quite a bit of work. Best of luck!
