Ben Hood well yea, after all that to blow a big lead against Florida State is very disappointing, but getting to that point was such a wild, unbelievable, stressful, amazing, heart pounding experience there’s just nothing like it
Well said brother. It beats the 2010 season in some ways. I'm still butthurt Jameis Winston beat us with 13 secs left in the National Championship though lol
AnonPatriot Right like 2010 has that satisfying championship winning finale. But basically every week in that season at halftime I thought our perfect season was over cause we were getting blasted. Then Cam would take over and win us the game. It was the Cam show and he was awesome, but 2013 really felt like Auburn as a family finding the craziest ways to make week by week. Dang Jameis ruining everything though
As an 8 year old, watching the kick 6 made me fall in love with Auburn, I didnt know where it was or any of their rivalries, I just knew they were the ones who just did that. Fast forwards to now, getting close on 10 years later and I'm about to apply to colleges and Auburn as at the top of my list. Chris Davis might just have accidentally sent me to Auburn University University
2013 Auburn was so exciting its what made me get into CFB in a big way; after 23 years of NFL only. Auburn V Johnny Football, vs Goergia, vs Bama, and the finale Fl state are SUCH great games. I rewatch every single one in order at least 4 times since winter 2014. Its also refreshing to watch a smashmouth spread run at the highest level.
Auburn grad here, I was in school during 2010 and 2013. There really aren't words in English to describe what it was like to be in the house for the Prayer at Jordan-Hare (it's pronounced Jerr-dan not Jor-dan btw) and the Kick Six. Watching videos from the stands or the broadcast is like trying to observe a room through a keyhole. You can really only understand it if you were there. When Ricardo Louis caught that ball it is the loudest crowd pop I have ever heard and I have been to an overtime series winning sudden death game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Chris Davis taking that all the way back was like seeing Luke Skywalker destroy the Death Star for the first time. Your eyes saw it but your brain didn't comprehend it. Rod's call of the play is the perfect gamut of emotions. Every Auburn fan or grad was feeling what he was feeling and the reactions from him and Stan White were 100% genuine. It was hours later after they cleared us off the field that the gravity of the situation started to settle in. It is the greatest play in sports history and you can't convince me differently. My son is going to be born at the end of November and I honestly can't wait to tell him what his mom and dad got to see in 2010 and 2013 when they were in school.
I was still upset that we lost to Florida state in the national championship but nobody gave auburn a chance and they were not a favorite to be in the national championship

Drk I agree although Auburn had an advantage because the wide receivers coach for Auburn at that time was at Florida st the previous two seasons so we were down 21-3 but we changed our offense, and outscored Auburn 31-10 and won but I always hate Alabama and always root for Auburn to win the Iron Bowl. Hope we can get back to relevancy.
The original Auburn Oaks planted between 1937 and 1939 were finally removed from Toomers Corner in April 2013 after being poisoned in early 2011. The fact these “miraculous” wins took place, at Home, months after the historic trees were removed gives me chills. I think the 2013 season was a gift from the sacred grounds…..a gift from the spirits whom previously walked this campus……whose voices echo out with a cry of WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!
I remember this season and it just felt like we were getting every stroke of luck possible, it was a year that ill look back on 20 years from now for sure

Im admittedly a huge LSU fan, but I would love a video on the 2019 LSU team. They're the greatest CFB of all time. Beating 7 top 10 teams, including the top 4 by an average of 21 points after nobody had LSU even winning the SEC.
Got my vote! And don’t listen to the sour big ten fans there just mad because in the sec it just means more and they can’t play football lol I almost cried for Michigan last playoff I feel sorry for that conference trying to keep up with the king
I was deployed for most of this season so I don’t really have the appreciation that this season as a whole deserves. I like this kind of video idea, taking teams from a season that had a remarkable run even if they didn’t win it all. I would be interested to see more teams like 2012 K State or 2011 Okie State. Teams that had great years that nobody remembers because they didn’t win the title
Same I'd always still have been an auburn fan but I get a cringey amount of pride thinking about like 'exactly where I was' when I saw the kick six happen. And the week before that Some special feeling idk. Growing up near Tuscaloosa and surviving the early Saban years... 2010 and this season made me love the chaos lol. Me and my dad talking s* to all of either of our friends and watching the kick six with my Alabama friends and their family. My dad listening to that radio broadcast at work. Wde
God, Kick Six is still so satisfying, seeing Alabama even come close to losing is always such a wonderful sight, as a fan of tightly contested games, even if I was from Alabama, I couldn’t imagine being a fan of a team that has an average of 3-4 exciting games (including playoffs) a year
Coming from a FSU fan born and raised.....I was so thankful for seeing Auburn beat Bama.....That return made me hit my head on my ceiling fan.....but I realized There’s no way we were beating them after such a lucky season....and then Jameis did his magic 🙂
I love that if you watch the Kick Six footage, at the end you can see one of the cameramen freak out. I've been to a lot of sporting events and watched even more on TV and I've never seen a cameraman "break character" as such but that moment was so fucking hype that he became a fan first and a cameraman second
This may not be that interesting to other people... but I was busy the entire day of the iron bowl. I was bummed I couldn’t see the game but I got to my family reunion that night and saw the end of the game was still on. I sat on the couch in the empty family room of my uncles house and watched the game winning kick six and went crazy... It’s a trip when your remember exactly where you were during a sports moment lol
Yo this is a solid video. Love the summary at the end. Sometimes the runner up is more special than the champion. '09 Texas. Talk about a "what if" (Colt getting hurt).. AND we almost came back and won with a freshman QB.. People don't realize how close that game was... Would have been a decisive Texas Victory and 5th Natty.. What if.
I sure do remember this season I wouldn't say they went from last to first they only had one very close loss that regular season to LSU at LSU and it was back and forth all night but there climb back after that was legendary and I miss this offensive Backfield tremendously Nick Marshall and Trey Mason And ran that Offense better than anyone I think Zone Read with players like this are one of a kind
What I love the most about 2013 Auburn is the Smashmouth Spread; using shotgun to read defenders to hand off or run or throw screens. If the Ravens can win a title, the NFL is going to be blown wide open, since there's plenty of undrafted athletes at QB. If it hurts your QB; just have 3 of them in the QB room, the way Ohio State won it all in 2014 with 3rd string QB. There's PLENTY of guys like Nick Marshall.
All the what-ifs that season man. Kills me to this day. I have a disdain for that FSU team and Jameis Winston but I guess it just wasn’t mean to be. How insane it would have been if we had completed that miracle season with a title. Hope to be back soon...
