Garage Built ‘67 Ford Mustang Throws Down

- This badass 67 coupe is awesome! Gabe is not a builder or fabricator and was able to put this mustang together in his home garage over a period of time. Not only does the car look cool, but it drives great for a budget build. So sit back, and enjoy the ride...

Who doesn't love a home built monster. Tired of all the trailer queens.
I 100% agree with you brother I do not like trailer queens it’s more soul in it when it’s built in house garage
Depends on how much you replace...or just restore. Complete drive line swap or upgrade, not a bad idea to have a rack/lift or other shop equipment.
I found out why most people don't use a small block C-6's in 1967's...
I appreciate the garage builds more because I can relate, beautiful car Sir.
I understand and I love them too. Especially how raw they typically stay
Love the car and have a lot of respect for a guy who says "even if he had the money he'd still build it himself" thanks for all the videos Shawn! Keep up the awesome work.
Cool approach from Gabe...and glad you like what we do here
That Windsor is barely under any stress that setup should easily make 500+ hp without any issue
Old guy told me years ago; The difference between 400hp and 1000hp you still got to cross the finish line son.
I agree
@Motersickle Bum Ok.
I saw that car on your cruising video and thought “ that car is bad ass!”
Now you shoot it and my opinion is verified 😁
Well done garage builds are what inspires the rest of us garage builders
I appreciate it man, I had a blast building it
Gabriel what did do on the reaer end to setup disc brakes. I have the same 67 coupe.no as badass as your. Gab I trying to do my 67 mustang 4 wheels disc brakes..that is a badass 67. Thks mustang
Jorge Sanchez it’s just a basic brake kit from a 04 cobra and adapter plate
its nice to give some love to coupes as well as to fastbacks
Agreed. They don’t get enough love and they deserve it
She hooks! 450hp sounds nice too me. Traction baby!
Grip and go is the idea and I love it
The acronym “KISS” applies here. Love it. Good job Gabe
Thanks man, I appreciate it
@@GabrielGonzalez-ck3gg Awesome car man. The fact that you did this in your garage makes it that much better.
Excellent job, Gabe! I have a lot of respect for a successful "Garage Build." Having completed an engine/trans/computer&wire harness swap on an '86 Jag XJ6, I'm familiar with all the work and late nights involved! Mine took 6 weeks from In-garage to Out-garage but the end result looked stock from 10 feet away.
The horsepower is always the talking/bragging point but Power-to-Weight Ratio gets the job done! Seeing a performance car these days at your weight, is especially impressive.
Yes for sure :/. It’s great
Roflmfao i live by that standard
“If I had the money I still wouldn’t pay a builder, I would still build it myself.” I can relate to that so much! I can admire the next mans car built or bought. There is just something I love about the challenge and the learning process and creating something of my own! Awesome build and love the story man!
That things sounds so good!!! And it looks like it rides like a perfectly balanced champ
Agreed all the way here
I dont think it gets better than just a guy with a garage.
I've never been a mustang guy at all, my brother was, loved the 69-70.
After he passed I found a 69 roller and have built it in my garage also, when I lose inspiration this car is what gets me to grab the wrenches again. This thing is killer! All I got left is paint and interior. Keep it up!
I am a Mustang guy, have one and didn't know what it was about until I finally got it, am hooked. More expensive cars have come and gone but the GT will stay. Thanks for this video, just pure working man passion and a brilliant automobile
Awesome! And I love how raw he’s kept this one
Did he get arrested? Because he stole that engine!! 2500 for a carb to pan 393 is nuts!!!! That is a really nice build!
Crazy the price he paid! Killer garage build
Exactly ! 400-450 hp is perfect for street ability. The Mustang looks good black on black with mini-lite style wheels and it definitely sounds good. The ingenuity kicks ass also !
Great car, great video ! 🍻
Agreed on power and I love what Gabe did here. Sounds, looks and is a great build
I have a streetable 68 mustang fuel injected 438windsor 540wheel e85 th400 4k stall 410 gears. Weighs 3k lbs. Scary car...lol
Another killer ride and awesome video! 😎🤘
Thanks and agreed on a killer garage built ride
Thank you for doing the 67mustang I love the car
I love how raw this one is
I too really dig the more DIY builds. 🥰👍 And anywhere between 300 & maybe 450 is perfect power for almost any car cause it's not gonna blow the tires off or make the weight distribution feel or seem all jelly-like.
Dude and his ole lady did a real nice job on the engine bay.
Not to shabby for his first build
I got an 750hp 04gt
Hard to beat a pony car man
Sounds like you have a cool one too
Definitely a bad as car!
It has a mean street fighter look to it👍🏽
Just a sick ass build all together!
Agreed all the way 👊
I wish my “budget build” could afford a TKO 600...
His whole suspension package was expensive too
Budget is in comparison to some of the big dollar builds
Lol same here
Buy a used tko.
Just check it out. Or buy a t5 and out good parts in it. They will hold up. As long as you're not launching a sticky tires all the time.
I totally dig it. Just got done with my 93 fox. 331 stroker turbo car. Tune not quite rite yet but getting there. Learning curve for me. Love the stang
Sounds like you’ve got a good Fox. Ever tried HP Tuners? Good product and good people
I'm so glad he went with the blue oval for the engine!
Fitting of this one
Gorgeous Mustang and amazing garage build 👍👍👍👍
Yes and yes!!
Hearing the great way that car sounds is like bacon for my ears!
“Bacon for my ears” 😂😂
I'm guessing he's not Jewish.
'Wire wheels on a drill' to strip back the engine bay ... brings back happy memories of building my 68 Barracuda in my cramped one car garage. It's these home builds that resonate most. Great car.
These garage builds are great! I love the creativity it takes working with a smaller budget
Growing up in the early/mid 70's, Mustangs were everywhere, a "dime a dozen" kind of thing, so to me, Mustangs are always kind of "meh", unless they're something special...THIS is a very nice example of a '67, but the thing that does it for me with this car, is the fact that it is indeed a "garage build", and NOT some some speed shop queen...This is how we built 'em back in the day, one piece at a time, best deals to be had, and saved $$$ from paper route/McD's/you name it, to get it done...
I especially liked the "launch" near the end, and while it wasn't a sidestep it just roasted the tires, and then to get a chirp when hitting second, tits, just tits...
Awesome comment!! 👊
Hey Shawn, easy way to tell a 67 from a 68 Mustang, Camaro, Cougar, whatever. In 68 side marker lights became law, so 67s won't have side marker lights on the fenders and quarters, but 68s will.
Thanks for the info! Makes it easier
The front splitter makes the car when looking at the front. Really aggressive and fits the cars vibe completely. Been loving these muscle cars on here amd seeing them driven hard intead of being a trailer queen.
We do our best to not have trailer queens but once in a while...he did a great job with this one
I love to see more garage builds, and that stance is perfect! I have a 68 myself, with a similar build in mind! Nice to see what he chose for suspension.
I sold my mustang when I got married so pissed after watching this..lol. Bad ass car....
another bad ass pony. great build..👍
Love this one! It's like a dealer day two Trans Am racer appearace package tribute...thing. At least I imagined it that way when I first saw it.
Very much like a trans am racer
Nice Stang.......🥂🍻🍻🍺🍺🥳🤪
Fully support garage builds...nothing better.... sorry Chip, Dave and the group.
Now that’s how men drive people!!! Forget about traction control 😆 👍 I don’t like the computer to hold me by the hand 🖐to assist my driving skills
Seeing this, I really miss my 67 coupe. All the typical speed parts in Bullitt green with a 302 and top loader. I sold it many years ago to a buyer from Belgium. I was busy playing with boats too so something had to go.
This is my kinda build......nothing on it that does not absolutely need to be there.......that's my idea of a great car, total function.
Pure driver purpose built to have fun
It’s like father and son talking about the sons project car 😂
I love that creativity of the garage build and I'm a total Mustang guy! Sounded sick too!
Same for me and yeah, the sound is awesome!
What a build stang looks and sounds sick love it!!!
Very cool ride!
Budget is relative if he’s got total control products front suspension. That’s 3K for just the coils.
Ok that blew my mind when he said he wire wheeled the whole engine bay area !!!!!
2 thumbs way,way up to you amigo 👍🏽👍🏽.
U truly EARNED that car. It is a beautiful sweetheart 💕
He did such a cool job on this one and I love that he drives it hard
Not uncommon for a classic car/muscle car home builder to take the entire car to bare metal with wire wheels, sand blasting, etc.. just isnt a common practice for more modern car chassis and import builds using 90s-2000s cars
Budget build yes Sir my 1970 Pontiac Firebird is in the works it's drivable just needs interior and Whole suspension rebuild to busy with work can't do it.
I love that year Bird...I want to build one this year
AutotopiaLA I like Firebird's because GM made less of them compared to its cousin Camaro. Up next a 68' to 70' GTO man they're Badass
My friend has a 65 parked under a tarp all original baby blue im gonna see if he will sell it to me
Good luck!
My favorite parts of all your videos, the grin you get when somebody gets on the go peddle.
Can’t help it! I turn into a 6 year old quickly 😂
so cool of your channel to feature home builders. i built my own 1953 ford f100. all the work, body work, metal work, engine and trans - done by myself.
Awesome! Sounds like a cool truck. We love showing garage builds here
I think the cool part about how you approach each of the cars you highlight is that it doesn't matter if it's a half a million dollar custom or gentlemen's garage build. You're stoked and excited because you just love cars! And I'm partial to mustangs anyway. Thanks for sharing Shawn.
I absolutely love that car. Wish i had of kept my 67 Stang. Had from 15-24 years old. Sold it for around 2 grand around 1995. I dug the way he added those bolts and just his entire set up on that car is very nice. Way cool. Thanks always for another great show.
Back here for the 6th time. I cant wait to build my '68 coupe .
Awesome!! Can’t wait to see it when you finish
I have a new appreciation for notch back mustangs. Looks perfect, sounds great, and it's his effort that made it happen, not a credit card. Sweet.
Sounds great and nice show at the end of what it can do. Nice job on that build drove it knew what he wanted to do after.
Yeah, I love that he built it to drive and drives it hard!
Love that build out! Thanks - I had a 68 427 Corvette Stingray, 67 Shelby GT 500, and a 67 Mustang Couple EXACTLY like this one with a similar 302 build, aluminum heads, aluminum flywheel, blueprinted, 7k revline, and it rocked. Power to weight ratio and traction bars got the 1/4 mile in 12.10's at Orange county back in 73. This mustang couple model was one of the best for drag racing. Light, nimble, great weight distribution, and if you powered it right, they would jump off the line. The shelby and corvette were fast, but could not get the traction this one could and by the time the big block would start to catch up, race was over. Only lost once on the street.
Remove the vinal top and do spray on bed liner. Clear coat and it looks original. No rust!
So happy to finally see Gabe‘s car on this channel by far one of my favorite builds in the community gabe and his wife are just the greatest until you have to push his car up a hill 😂😂🤭🤭🤫🤫
I appreciate the push brotha 🤣🤣🤣
Glad we didn’t have to push this one! Very cool couple and a great garage built badass!
I'm watching you from France, again a great video Guys !
Are you guys like Secret Twin Brothers? I mean in a good way, like Speed Racer and Racer X back in the day.
I gotta say that was the nicest burn oouuttt !!!! i seen for a long time !!!!!
Just savage //. Yes love it .//. I love to drive / hard and aggressive myself so this is just right ,,,
I love cars that are built to be driven hard!
Ahhh what a beauty makes me want to get a mustang again ! Only reason I got rid of my coupe was bc it wasn’t a fastback but man I think ima get one again haha side not everyone brushes off flowmssters but man they really sound good !
Coupes don’t get enough love and I’ve always thought they were cool
Hi can you tell me were I could by a set of the hood vents stainless steel thank I am in Australia just love them
No offense, but Gabe looks like a younger you without a beard lol
I used to not like the 65-68 mustang coupes but have come to appreciate them in recent years. This is a clean build. Proves you don't need to be a millionaire to build a cool car.
Thank man
@@GabrielGonzalez-ck3gg No problem. Be safe in that thing.
cheguei quase em primeiro aqui dando like video de otima qualidade e maquinas incriveis como sempre
Shawn,, more of these type videos.. an ‘everyday’ mans car. Not $300k builds most can’t afford. Very well done finding this car to review!
More to come I promise. I love showing em all but more garage builds coming
Im surprised normally i like chrome bumpers but those painted ones are really nice and sets it off
Something about the posture of this car combined with those wheels and color tones indicates it's a tough sumbitch. It can be sitting still and you kinda think twice before wanting to mess with it.
maybe ill be in one of your videos one day
7:14......the sound of the Flows. Classic!! I may or may not have came in my underwear.
😂😂
AWESOME RIDE!!! EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! I'D LIKE TO ADD TO YOUR FILM CREW EXCELLENT JOB ON MAKING VIDEO'S!!!
Agreed and thank you! I’ll make sure Paul & Kyle see you’re comment here 👊
the flowmasters sound brutal
Feature more garage builds man we love them! Provides inspiration and motivation that we regular guys can build our dream cars aw well.
When your wife helps clean the engine bay, you know you’ve married the RIGHT woman! Beautiful build! Awesome car!
Awesome car. A labor of love and determination beats writing a check to have another man build your car any day!!
I prefer it with no body and paint. You can drive it anywhere...
Beautiful car!
It’s such a raw cool build
Greta channel never disappoints 👍👍👍
Thank you! Lots more coming from us
This is the essence of what we were building back in the day. And Im talking about the 60s and 70s. Either we were young and not rich or married and raising a family. I respect the owner but he spends way too much time apologising about his build. Our crew has some bad rides and he would be welcome to join us at any time. We got no time for 100 point NOS garage royalty. That ride tells a lot about you and its saying unique and nasty.
I’m with you. He’s such a nice guy and though we only shoot big dollar builds but I love the garage builds just as much
I'd love to bring out my '65 Mustang I built for a AutotopiaLA video.
Bring it on!
Saw it at quarantine cruise
That’s where I first saw it. Cool car and owner
Mustang never gets tired of it.
Best Mustang I've seen so far! Definitely my new all time favorite muscle car!👍
Gabe, @cdubs1967 here. You give some serious credibility to all the “garage builds” out there. Great job! Love the car! Mine isn’t quite that bad ass yet....one day
I appreciate it! Just keep chipping away my friend 💪🏽
I love when people get inspired from our videos...Gabe did a great job here and such a cool guy!
Love those garage build series... That's a one bad 67... Keep them coming Shawn
Thanks Nik and definitely more garage builds coming
Wonder if he'd be willing to try the Fastback transplant like Jason Scudellari did with his.
Nice build, loved the wheels and the vinyl top
Agreed all the way 👊
oh yeah, and I'm not even a Ford fan, but that is 1 bad-ass stang for certain! Damn that thing hooks the f*** up gr8! Love how it looks & hooks the f up, chirping those tires when he shifted with ease too! Agree with what he says too, "even if I had the $$$, I'd build it myself"...... so would I, In fact, I still have a 1968 -327 double humped heads, from a '68 Impala 4-door with a turbo 400, I bought my senior year in HS for like $250 & drove her home, sold the turbo 400 for like $2-250 & put the 327 from her into a '68 chevelle with a borg warner t-10, allegedly, with lockout reverse shifter! I bought the 68 Chevelle & 4-speed, my junior year of HS! Set on it, looking for an engine to put in her then finally came the 68 Impala for $250 drove it for a test drive & immediately give em the $250, got the engine out of the Impala & into the 68 Chevelle .....all "legal" and drove it to my senior prom it's 1st night on the road! Shift linkage wasn't quite right, got stuck in between 1st & 2nd on my way to get my date/gf at the time.....drove it through HS....Kept the engine & trans., after I got slammed 1 day in right rear quarter by a town water truck checking out girls in bikini's! I sold the body shortly after I got hit, he fixed the quarter & redid the whole car....made her look better than when she came out of the factory.......
I'd love to one day sooner, rather than later, rebuild that old 327 & drop it in a Nova II! My dad had a 67 SS Nova II, just after I graduated! I should've bought that car when he let it go, was All original & if I recall correct, he was either 2nd or 3rd owner of it! mom had a few mustangs when I was a boy...this is one bad-ass mustang! Yep 400 HP is plenty to have fun & drive anytime, anywhere....we're a 1968 model as well, so that '68 engine & I have been together most of both our lives. She run when I took it out the Chevelle, last time she was ran was back in the mid to late 1980s. I've always seen that engine going into a Nova II, shouldn't have any trouble squeaking out 400 HP from that old 327! I'm not even certain where the few pictures I had of that Chevelle even are....
great job on that build/car gabe...keep doing what you do here on the channel brother...we'll be watching!
SurprizedDaily I appreciate it 🙏🏼
@@GabrielGonzalez-ck3gg pleasure to seen what you've done with that stang brother 👍she's tight....enjoy the fruits of your labor 👊
He built a badass for sure and I love how often he has it out cruising the streets
Sharp Mustang. Great color and wheel choice! Great sound! It must be tight riding this car.
Yeah, very cool build and built to drive all the way
Awesome. I love everything about this car except the hood scoop. I’d love to own it.
I’m with you but don’t mind the scoop at all
Absolutely love these builds, looks great , sounds amazing, and its a Mustang! no bias here ;)
No bias...😂😂
Those are the best wheels on a mustang period. My wife wants a red version of this car and its next on the build list!
They’re so perfect on here...red??? I like it!!
Bro everytime you bring a mustang i say thats my favorite so far......and then you you bring another one and i like it even more!!! Keep it up man!! Great content!!
Cool to hear as we have a few killer Mustangs on deck...thanks!
400+ horses to the wheels with only 3k lbs to push, that's a great power to weight ratio, a lot of fun to drive. Plus, that drivetrain will last a lot longer. A very economical set up that will last for years to come. I like this build.
Two brothers in the youngest built with such a sound..!! Love that..!! Thanks brothers.. ;-)
Is that he’s brother
Super Slick Pony 💯🔥🤘 Nothing but LUV on There 💯 #ATLA
CANADIAN SUPERMAN APPROVES
Awesome!!
Love the garage style builds! I’m currently building 69 c-10 in my garage.
Me too...show us your C10 when it’s done!
Love the budget build. Goes to show you don’t have to spend tons of dough to have a nice build. Just ingenuity, drive and of course coming across deals and doing the diy. Thanks for sharing Shawn!
Great build! Raw and to the point, built in a garage....what´s not to like?!
