Nylon all day, also 550 is probably too thin, try the 1100 size.. you can also look into dyneema, Kevlar and other hmpe cordage, but uv is going to be hard on anything. Just be careful and inspect anything you're going to hang on..
I used to live in travel on a sailboat and oddly enough, all of my black line (rope) and black zip ties held up better in the sun than any other colors.
Yea the guy who invented this shit. “Charlie’s webs”. He said in one of his vids. The darker the cord the longer it last. He said bright colors don’t last as long. But using black 5/50 cord he said it last between 7-10 years. If you look at it like white people and black people. White people burn in the sun whereas black people with their skin being dark. They don’t burn as easy. I’m guessing that’s why the darker colors last longer.
@noobovsky420 OP has a valid point. This stuff all ends up somewhere and unfortunately its in the air, water, and soil. Some people get the impression that it's just "rope". Couldn't be further from the truth. It's plastic just like the clothes most people wear nowadays
We grew up putting Manila ropes in the Eucalyptus trees and living the Tarzan life. The 2" and bigger lasts a long time under kid load jumping out of trees but they definitely will let you down. Ouch. Watch anything you put your trust in.
This is wrong. Darker colors last longer. 7-10years. Charlie’s web. The guy who invented this. Says this in one of his vids. He’s been doing it since 2008. So he knows his shit. Check him out
That polyester Paracord probably isn't 100% polyester because I have some polyester Paracord and it's never frayed on me like that before and that's because I left it out in the sun for 2 years and the color did fade a lot but the Paracord just doesn't break like the one in the video
It also matters what color it is. Any synthetic (even your dashboard) resists UV much longer if it's dyed black. The dark color limits the penetration of the UV rays. That second piece was a light shade.
@@patricknorton5788 yup. Think of it like people’s skin. White people burn easier than black people. The guy who invented tree weaving said. The darker the cord the better. It’ll last between 7-10 years and
Yep. My uneducated opinion is that the colour orange is more susceptible to damage. At least it deteriorated much faster than the same product in dark green 🤷♀️
Thanks for putting this video up, just about to order the gear for my own net and you've taught me a lesson the easy way. Thank you!
Likewise!

Gotta get some 550 cord...aka type III Nylon
Does it rot after a while?
@@dyinglighttim4754yes it will after years in a tree. No rope is invincible to the elements

Ohh that is interesting! Even better than white?
Perhaps the chemical in the black paint's composition prevents the accelerated deterioration found in the other colors.

@@BeingMandasee what I wrote above.
Temu cord is not the same😅😢
All that powder is microplastics. And we wonder how this stuff gets into the soil and our lungs?
If you cry more about it maybe it’ll get better.

You should use white chords as it absorbs the least light and use a thicker paracord

Nylon should last 5 years or more maybe even upto 10...
I thought that polyester is better in the sun/outdoors
good to know, nylon is better
seriously !?!?!!?I've always use 250 and 550 paracord and have noticed the 250 is waaaaay more brittle if left outside but didn't knownitnwas this bad
I do hope this was just some super crappy cord from China and that USA cord is good to go 🤞
UV rays are very strong and plastics without additives dont do well
Gotta use steel
I bought 550 paracord, that will be fine in the shade right?
Sun light uv rays brital fibre aging
Bailing twine
weird polyester is supposed to be better in the sun

Good to know, hoping I just got a dodgy spool

@@patricknorton5788 Thanks, yeah the cord was bright orange to begin with

That military grade brakes down?
any one know if they link all of this somewhere?
Nylon or polyster ?
I'd recommend USA made Nylon paracord
Gotta use hemp
So what would be better than both?
Nylon USA 550 paracord. Warm colours will fade quicker than cool colours but all will be strong enough. (From my experience).
Okay so nylon
Those cords that deteriorated are probably polypropylene, not polyester.
Thanks
UV radiation accelerates decomposition
Black ropes last longer, I think
sun damage?
