- From BBC TV's ‘They Sold A Million’ on 4th February 1973, The Searchers perform great versions of their 1965 hit 'Goodbye My Love' and their latest single 'Vahevala'. Enjoy!!!

Love it!! ❤ i have this album!! The old one!!! Now i am almost 73,and I listen again Goodbye my love❤
One of the best groups in the "British Invasion".
Splendid live performances Peter of the 1973 Searchers line up. Odd mix on the backing of parts of 'Goodbye', but doesn't Mr Pender's voice just shine ! 😊
Love their song “Needles and Pins”, ooof so handsome and the harmonies~playing are out of this world great! ♥️
Don't know how this group didn't become bigger than they were. They did a lot of cover stuff, and maybe not enough good original stuff, but I loved them. Great sound!
This song and this group is so new to me. But they were fantastic!
What a fantastic performance ❤
The Searchers were one incredible band!!! Mike Penderyn was such a good singer.
My favourite band all brilliant mikes voiceis great. Underrated band and influential thi is the best line up.
Mike Pender’s voice soars on this song! 💥💥👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
WOW, JUST SUPERB !
Superb! And a nice change from the ‘oldies’ that usually get played.
Fabulous.
Saw this clip when l was a rock ape at raf catterick Mike's vocals brilliant thanks for the memory 6:32
Peter's book one of many Channelling The Beat listing TV appearance by many 60s acts.
Another gem by these guys.
The hip 70's look !
Too bad Mike felt he had to leave the Searchers. He didn't really break any new ground with his new "Searchers" except his name is more prominent above the band. He should have stuck with Frank and John in my opinion. Nothing against Mike and his performing, just a real bummer that none can be in the same room anymore. Time's running out...
I agree totally. Former drummer John Blunt is still around too, so wouldn't it be wonderful if all 4 of them got on stage one last time?
Quite agree. Mike Pender still plays the Searchers sings, so a shame he had to fall out with the band.
@@wendyhewitt8711 Whatever happened John wants no part of Mike.
Vince Hill introducing, I think. Thanks for posting. Is this a one off or will there be more?
I believe more shows exist, but I was only interested in The Searchers' footage.
@@peterchecksfield9958 I meant will you be posting more videos.
@@clipstone Maybe, though I don't have much time to look for rare footage these days (very busy researching/writing/publishing/promoting my books!).
@@peterchecksfield9958 that a shame because you post the best clips.
@@clipstone I also write the best books! ; )
The era of the male perm!
There's no perms there, all natural!
@@peterchecksfield9958I was referring to the drummer 😂
@@josephinerimmer6888 That's real too! The late Billy Adamson always had a naturally curly mop of hair.
@@peterchecksfield9958 Wow!
Looks like live vocals over a pre recorded track done prior thar same day , very popular back then to do this.
I think the backing tracks are from the then-recent RCA recordings.
@@peterchecksfield9958 thanks , Billy's drums are not in synch @ 3:19 and McNally is giving an acoustic sound but playing a gold top Les Paul custom..oh and no amplifiers or leads between the amps and guitars...Penders vocals are outstanding though. Oh , and no steel drums either..
Is Vahevala a 'B' side.?
Mike made BIG mistake departing. After losing Tony Jackson .2 lead voices. But give credit to Spencer James for taking leads
Mike doesn't see it as a mistake.
Could Vehevala be a B Side.?
No, it was the A-side of a RCA single in late 1972.
