It is amazing on how cheap companies are getting . bushing instead of bearings , plastic engine parts .Sad.

Sometimes even the bushings are plastic! How long do they think they're going to last? Is it possible to custom order bearings if you can mic the inner and outer diameters?

Great tip Bob. These bearing should last for the life of the tractor I would think. Think about your son and family during this time. I'M sure he's a high risk as I am my wife works at Vanderbilt and we are just praying she doesn't come in contact with the virus and bring it home to me that would not be good. Stay Safe Stay Healthy. God Bless!!!

With the wheel off, it’d be a good time to put that little flat bearing & washer on the front steering knuckle/axle - it makes steering so much easier on these mowers - Bruce Pender,Taryl etc... have some really good videos of the flat bearing & part numbers.

I found a similar bearing that is a roller cage bearing. Much. Better than the sleeve ones.

@@blueplasma5589 Oregon offers a roller caged bearing that goes full depth.
      3/4”x1-3/8”
HD switch on d bay also has some.
Do the kingpin flanges with flat roller thrust bearings 20x35x3mm while you are at it and stack
the spindle shaft with four caged 19x21x25 roller bearings while you are at it.
Get easier steering out of it. 👊

Really, really helpful video! Thanks for taking the time. Do you happen to know if these bearings will work on a 09 troy built bronco?
I just found a few of your videos over the past week as I've gotten into my first, more complex repairs on my mower. You've really got a great ability to deliver the useful info and not complicate things. Many thanks for all the info!

It depends on the age of the mower if I bother changing out bushings for bearings. If the Spindle is all grooved, a bearing won't matter. I have a lady with an older Scotts by John Deere and I am not messing with bearings on hers. Bushings are cheap enough and I doubt that mower is going to last long enough to make it worth the effort.
MTD uses cheap plastic so yeah.

Hello! Thank you for the tutorial! Do you have any tips for dealing with the flange on the axle behind the wheel assembly? The wobbling wheel dented it all up. Thanks!

I don't know for sure if you look up the cub part number and search Amazon it should show you some ball bearing styles that fit.

Thanks to the weak-ass e-clamp that holds the wheels on, the front wheels are still at risk of falling off even with the new ball bearing bushing set. Don't buy a Husqvarna! They are the most poorly engineered lawn mowers I've ever seen.
