Another trick I just tried out comes from the method to avoid ladders in magic loop. Where you knit he first stitch normally, put the needle into the second, and give a gentle tug on the working yarn. So many years of my knitting life hating dons, when I could have been doing this 😂 so glad I figured it out

Thank you! I always tugged only that first stitch, and that was never enough! I intuitively made the needles perpendicular, which is great, but the trick is to also tug that SECOND stitch

Thank you so much for this ladder remedy. I have searched for years for a solution that works and your well explained, simple method absolutely works for me. The baby hat I’m working on is now ladder free. Fantastic. Thank you.

This was very helpful. I am trying the reverse of the recommendation since I tend to stretch the last stitch on my DPN. Thanks!

I've tried DPNs several times for socks. Finally gave up on them for *whole* sock knitting...*for now*. (Would like to try again some day. I hate that I can't do entire sock on them without issues.) I've been doing vanilla socks with 9-inch circulars. Way less stressful for me. With DPNs I was either making ladders or I had stitches slipping off on one end or the other end of a needle kept poking the sock, getting stuck in stitches etc.. I'd end up with a loop of my working yarn attached to on the opposite end of where I'm working. Not sure how I did that, (????) but it happened more than once. I do use DPNs to turn the heel, work gusset and toe decreases. No DPN problem with those parts. I can't work an entire sock on 9-inch circulars either. Too fiddly. What I do is a hybrid using both methods.

@@ACTechniques I hope to do a whole decent sock with DPNs one day. I won't feel like a "real" knitter until I do. I know, it's silly to feel this way. LOL

@@ACTechniques Your video inspired me to try the DPNs AGAIN for the umpteenth time. A change of needle type (a switch to bamboo for grippy-ness) and your tips worked!!!! THANK YOU!! Now I can do the short circs AND DPNS. I'd welcome any tips for Magic Loop to try those again, too. LOL

I've been trying out the newer flexiflips... Not sure if I love them better than dpns or not
