LOL - I have a 2015 2.2Ghz MacBook Air that is still just fine, especially when I'm on the road. For at home I do have a 15" MacBook Air. Different beast, different usage.
Great video! I have a 2020 M1 Air, 16gb/1TB. I own my own consulting business and my M1 Macbook is my main computer for everything I do. I even use it to create training video's and all that goes with running a business that incorporates online and remote interaction. This beast has never let me down and never slows down. I plan to keep it as my main computer until the M5 comes out which will be my next upgrade. Why the M5? Well, I am a Trekkie, so yeah.... Quite the Sci-Fi nerd here. haha!
Watching on a Late 2008 Macbook running the same OS, Monterey. Granted, can't do everything your M1 macbook can, but mine cost 50 bucks at Goodwill a couple years ago now.
Hell yes. For 90% of the users out there it'll be fine for another three or four years. And for cheapskates like me, years beyond that. Our M1 is my wife's main machine, and mine for coffee shop work. But I still have my 2009 white Macbook that I use for certain offline work; and it still rocks!
Thanks for the comment :-) Those old White MacBooks still look really nice if looked after. I’m keeping my eye out for one in good condition. Yeah, the M1 is still a really good chip and will be for a while yet. Cheers
I have the M2 Air, and would absolutely *not* upgrade my laptop even if I had the money. I think the M1 and M2 MacBook Airs are still totally fine for usage today.
Walmart selling them brand new with M1 for $699 just made them relevant for quite some time to come. Still a beast compared to most Windows machines, especially if you unplug the Windows machines and know they throttle down, still consuming battery way faster than these MBA’s. I was planning on a new M3 MBA, but with the price of the base model M1 at Walmart, I’m buying one. I’ll use it till it can’t keep up, then buy a new base model that will last a few years. Even doing that I’ll spend less than on a spec’d out model that lasts longer.
@@IrensTech I used my wife’s on my own workflow to test the idea and it just rocked. I have no issues whatsoever even with 8GB RAM running MS Windows in a virtual machine (employer requirement). I’m impressed and if the SSD goes from swap usage in a few years…just getting another base model to replace it with whatever model is out at the time.
got a MacBook Pro 2015 2day, honestly im so happy, the trackpad is so quiet so that way I don't have to worry about my mom catching me in the night (shhh don't tell her 😂)

I have a few older MacBooks as well, but I find myself using the M1 more and more often.
Cheers

Yeah, it is a great piece of kit. I’m partial to a bit of Star Trek myself.
M5 :-) The Ultimate Computer.

That’s great that you can get use out of an older machine. I still like to use my 2013 Pro for less demanding things (also Windows)

I wholeheartedly agree with you. They are more than enough.

699 new is a great price for one of these. Compared to some of the Windows Laptops I have to use for work, this thing absolutely flies.

@@billb8262 it’s great you got to try it out before purchase.
Yeah this is where I landed as well! M1 at $699 is just too sweet of a deal to pass up!
Fanless M1 MBA sill have many Fans🥰
It sure does :-)
Good one!
What editing program do you prefer to use for your videos?
Either Da Vinci Resolve or iMovies depending on what I need to do.
I have a MBP m3 pro with 18 gb of ram & 512 gb ssd. Love it!
That will hopefully last you a good number of years. It would be a little overkill for my needs :-)

The Force Touch trackpads are incredible.
I love it ❤ @@IrensTech
You just have 144 cycle count, how come the battery health is low?
My 2013 MacBook Pro had 668 cycles and 88% battery health.
I’m not sure. I used it a lot for more than three years. It might be because it is often plugged in.
the intro sounds scared the crap out of me
Apologies.
I’ll knock the volume down a notch for the next one.
Why are there dots on your macbook?
He said in the video its from the case he uses
Yeah, it’s from the case. It is an older Tomtoc case before they changed the inner material to stop it happening.
