One thing to point out, Paradis being nuked thousands of years later likely has nothing to do with Eren, the Rumbling, or the Titans. It's far more likely that it was just a war over oil or some other dumb shit humans fight about. The point of it is to show that it was never really about the Titans, because even without them, humans still find other reasons to kill each other. Just like Erwin said "Humanity will never stop fighting itself.. until it shrinks to a size of one or fewer."
@@Sir-Bane Okay, I didn't read the manga, but it was clearly way more than 100 years. They built a huge futuristic city full of skyscrapers and the town only even started expanding a lot after Mikasa died of old age, which is like 60 years later already. People like to argue it's not futuristic and "there are skyscrapers that look like that today", but there is no place that has futuristic skyscrapers that tall in such a high density. Also, do you know how long it takes for a tree to grow that high? The point was clearly just a general "there will always be war" message, not "Eren't plan didn't work" or something. I don't know why people assume the latter if it pisses them off so much.
@@Sir-Bane even in the manga, the tree eren was buried is literally surround by forest at the end. There is no way it is happened less than 100 years,.
It's a bit different this time though. The first time, the dogs were hunting the child. This time, the dog runs off ahead of the child and they stumble upon the tree together, no fear, no power dynamics at play at all. They enter with curiosity. Maybe things could be different this time. I think it conveys the hopeful message AOT has.
@@organicelephant5416 The german narration translated states "The story repeats itself" -- so I'm thinking they do come back. Especially given the wars that were shown in the time lapse. You can't cure human nature
Everyone joining together to try and save the baby even as they were falling to their deaths was a really powerful moment and the anime brought it to life beautifully.
@@SolidSnake240Seriously, me too. I read the manga and it didn't necessarily hit me as hard, but like 3 seconds into that sequence with the music the dam just broke and I couldn't hold back tears. It isn't the death, or the suffering of those people that hits me so hard, it's the *hope* that they still have in this seemingly final hopeless moment. I don't care if I fall to my death, I'm going to push this kid forward in the hopes that they can live just a little longer. It's a beautiful message even through the horrific imagery.
It wasn’t that Eren couldn’t do other solutions, it was that this was predetermined by Eren. As he tried to do other things, it ended up with him doing exactly as his memories from the future said it was. The most freedom obsessed character had a predetermined outcome
no, that would imply there was nothing he could do to change the future, but he could. If he killed himself, would the rumbling happen? if the warriors never attack, does the rumbling still happen? if he does nothing, does the rumbling still happen? the answer is, very obviously, no. so predeterminism isnt whats happening. he saw a future that he accepted, and the actions he would need to take to get there, and he did just that. because he thought it was the best option for what he desired.
@@mgb013 No, Eren said his head was messed up because he couldn't tell what was past, present or future anymore. He was bound to live by his own choices and could not change it. It's like Doctor Manhattan in the comic Watchmen, that describes it as if they are all puppets, the difference is that he can see the strings.
@@mgb013Marley was going to attack Paradis regardless. Paradis was going to be destroyed for his resources anyway. Eren got to the path that bought peace for his friends to live long lives. In the end it was genocide vs genocide.
@@LSMuglia the difference between living in the past, present, and future vs having glimpses of particular events in the past and future is beyond night and day. i really dont understand how you could possibily think they are similar. dr manhattan is literally living in all them vs eren not knowing where his memories came from. are you fr? experiencing vs remembering. also, dr manhattan literally says he cant change what happens, meaning he has tried. where does eren say he saw a memory and tried to stop it from happening, but failed?
A few fun facts: 1) Eren didn't open his eyes during rumbling, he opened his eyes in his last breath just to see Mikasa 2) Mikasa wrote “Here forever rest peacefully, my most beloved, my dear. 854” on Eren’s grave. The first two times Mikasa visits Eren’s grave she put four roses which means nothing will come between two people who love each other but cannot be together / tragic love. The last time she put one rose which means “you are still THE one". 3)A white flower was placed during her death, which symbolizes purity and virginity. So, taken together, Mikasa's flowers send the message that she won't forget Eren, she still loves him (but believes he can no longer love her back), she will remain devoted to him, and she is waiting. 4)They spent 4 years living together in Paths (ch. 138) And only when he “passed away” there, was she able to kill him in the real world. 5)In the ending credits where Eren and Mikasa were buried, an old man Armin still visiting their graves. He was the last to die from the trio, just like when they were kids running to the tree, he was the last one who reaches the tree. 6)This is a very famous consideration. It is believed that the bird that last wrapped the scarf around Misaka's head was a bird known by its Japanese name, the "Tohzoku Kamome". Also, the english name of this bird is "Pomarine Jaeger.
Just realized what Armin meant by, "Let's tell them all of it." and what he is about to do. He's gonna give a long speech, and it's going to start with, "On that day, mankind remembered..."
Seeing Levi's salute and then crying really hit me hard. He lost everything but he finally fulfilled his promise to Erwin. 🥺 He doesn't have that one person there like the rest of them do. At least he got to see his comrades again. The humanity's strongest soldier.
To be honest, the scene hits kinda different when you realize the person who crushed half of them is having a heartfull reencounter with her dad 10 meter away lol
oooooh, maybe that explains why the ending with armin was so rushed in the manga! i hear thats a lot of peoples biggest complaint about the ending with the manga.
The scene with everyone scrambling to save the baby was so haunting and beautiful. Isayama always manages to perfectly depict the human spirit in this series which is why it's one of my favorites

Armin's VA broke my heart with the screaming and crying. I'll never forget this masterpiece of a show. It brought me so much tears but so many memories too. Thank you Isayama 🙏🏻✨️
Don't know if y'all noticed, but in the final shot we saw that the tree grew to look exactly like the tree Ymir went in and found the power of the titans. Full circle. Thank you iseyama for a wonderful work of art.
The scene with the baby at the edge was the perfect mix of sorrow and hope. On one hand, they were trying to save the baby from falling. On other, they're basically choosing the baby go thru the rumbling. Beautiful.
Nah Armin's voice actor was absolutely fantastic she definitely stole the show with all those emotions especially when screaming at seeing Eren's severed head
@@xenandxenI will never understand y the Japanese give adult male characters female voices. Although, Armin is one of few where it actually works. Naruto's adult voice is kinda trash. Goku's Jap voice is shit.
She's a really good VA, I'm even surprised to hear that she voiced a certain pink Elf in Hi3 and a dommy mommy character in PGR. The range on her voice man.
Fun fact: The person singing in the background while Mikasa was sitting/crying besides Eren's grave is Mikasa VA herself, (Yui Ishikawa) and the male voice is Eren's VA, Yuki Kaji! And the crying baby voice during the rumbling was from Yuki Kaji's (Eren VA) baby.
10 years of a masterpiece and not a single second wasted. Eren made sure that everyone got somewhat of a positive outcome in the end. Mikasa got to see what life was like with her and Eren. Connie got his mom back. Eren went all Aladdin with Armin and showed him the world minus the magic carpet. And he made sure there were no titans left in the world like his brother Zeke wanted so they wouldn't be feared and hated at least for a while. Glad you three got to experience this masterpiece!
Erens conversation with Armin was supposed to show that there were other ways, this was just the best way in Erens eyes, and it’s the best way because he’s just not a good person, he gave into his desires and chose both the path of least resistance and the most satisfying end.
how the fuck did he come to that conclusion??? Like the way his plan ended they could've just gone with Zekes plan and it would've been the same but y'know without 80 fucking % of the planet dying. . .
That's likely true but also it put the island on at worst equal footing as the rest of the world. This likely added more time before the cycle of war started back up. That way his friends and everyone that he knew and cared about were able to live long peaceful free lives. Of course generations later the fighting started again though.
the way mikasa’s “see you later eren” was shown way back in chapter one of the manga, when eren was napping under the very same tree that he would be buried under. absolutely insane.

Its such a realistic narrative on how cultural trauma instigates war among many other topics/ideas. Executed so perfectly with complex character storylines intertwining and coming to a close perfectly in their own individual regards.
lowkey not really tho. The wait for each season and having to get hype from the trailers and predict what the next season is about from the post credits an ending season was insanely fun. Like that one time when the end credits showed eren punching levi and no one knew what happened to armin..
@@hyun-ki_hei The hiatuses between S1 and S2, and the Last Season releases definitely could have been shorter for peoples liking. That said, the long waits between the last releases definitely helped quell majority of the ragging people, and gave more time for the finale to cook in the oven.
@@hyun-ki_hei I agree with you. The complexity of the story made watching it over and over again totally fun as you would always pick up on something that you missed. I started watching this anime back in 2013 and from season 1 I could tell it was special. The amount of care placed onto it from the story, to the animation, to the OST, to the fight sequences, to the mystery of where the titans came from made me abstain from reading the manga. The long years waiting was painful but it was worth it. Best anime ever IMO.
I absolutely cried when Levi looked at all his fallen comrades who did their duty so much and sacrifice in their lives. What a beautiful moment. Sasageyo!
It was emotional to see, Levi has been there since the beginning, and has to experience his fallen comrades, yet having such a royal heart to keep moving, He is indeed one of the best characters in the series.
Yeah never cried once throughout the series but that brought tears to my eyes, especially when it was followed by Jean & Conny seeing Sasha and Reiner finally getting his mothers love.
When Lupa san said “Just attack! No Titan” made me realize that it is the current world situation with all the hate and war. Not a next season of Aot but rather the never-ending season of our world and life.
I was explaining the ending of the show to my dad cause he was mad confused I went into the kitchen with tear streaks down my face and he said the same thing lmao. A phenomenal piece of art that reflects real life so well.
I stg as soon as I heard Lupa say "TEN YEARS" in the beginning i just KNEW the edit was gonna be there during Eren's breakdown and i was NOT disappointed lmfao Edit: The song that played during Mikasa's final scene and the credits is titled "To You 2000...or 20,000 Years From Now" so I think it is safe to assume that the final scene with the kid and his dog was 20,000 years into the future. And looking at it that way, I'd be surprised if the reason Paradis got nuked in the end was because of the Rumbling. We have extremally vague knowledge of what happened 10,000 years ago on our own planet, let alone 20,000 years.
in the anime paradis survived and thrived for much longer than the manga. in the manga it was plausible that they were destroyed due to the cycle of hatred returning but in the anime it just shows the cycle of war and violence never ending no matter the era, it had nothing to do with the rumbling
Given that the part that begins with "to you 2000" is from Ymir's POV, mixed with Eren's since the memories all mixed together, and that Eren is the recipient 2000 years after Ymir, I think we can say that (from that same perspective) that the boy is 18,000 years after *Eren* but still 20,000 years after Ymir.
Isayama is answering in an interview with The New York Times. 「I considered a happy ending where the war ends and everything turns out well. However, overlaying that with the current reality makes it banal and lacking in credibility. It's sad, but I had no choice but to give up on the happy ending.」 I like this final episode. It's inevitable for any popular series to have mixed opinions about the ending. I want to thank all the staff for their hard work.
In the credit scene Armin survived the longest and visited the tree where two tombs were present. So first eren reached the tree followed by mikasa and at last its armin so just like in their race he reaches the hill the last
It’s really hard to believe it’s over. I first started watching this series when I was 14, I’m 22 now. By far my favorite story ever told period. Now time to binge from the beginning all over again.

nah most manga readers liked the ending too the ones that dont like it are just a loud minority they were mad that eren wasnt emo and got angry when he showed emotion towards armin
Anime did some changes to dialogue between Armin and Eren, which was better than in the manga. Eren gave more explanation as to why he did everything and his purpose of genocide and its impact for the future, that wasn't well delivered in the manga. That's why the manga ending was controversial was considered weak and unsatisfactory by many
@@GamingJunis Come on, compare the manga and anime dialogue of Eren and Armin, its obvious the anime did it better. That's why people were upset, the manga ending has valid reasons for criticisms. Glad Mappa finished the series with justice, though there are some details I have to nitpick

The thing about Historia's pregnancy is that it's not a mystery at all. Right from start, the story tells us that in order to save herself she chose to be pregnant with someone she knows and works at her farm. It sucks that we didn't see his face or know his name but it is what it is. People just made a fuss about it and theorize so much about it
Can't blame them in a series like attack on titan. It also came along at the same time we were told fake stories by zeke. Also, with her most possibly naming her child ymir and the established rule of a child inheriting the titans power if a shifter dies before their natural death or being eaten that was never used screams like a possible outcome of devil becoming the devil of all earth that gives his powers to ymir, repeating history. It makes so much sense that I'm convinced that it was a route isayama considered at one point. It's almost too convenient. I really like the ending we got, but I don't think it did historia justice overall.
That's my only nitpick I have about the way they left him nameless. At least they could've given the farmer some more recognition since he literally is going to have a family with a Queen
The bird wrapped the scarf back around Mikasa. A call back to season 2 when Eren said, " I'll wrap that scarf around you forever. As many times as you want."
Eren always saw the scarf he gave Mikasa as something that shackled her to him, that's why he told her to get rid of it. He wants her to be "free" of him, but Eren doesn't get to make that call. Eren felt that Mikasa was indebted to him for saving her from those captors, to the point where he made up a lie that she was only so besotted with him because her blood mistook him for her "host." He can't understand why Mikasa loves him. Is it because they're family? Or is it because he saved her? The real answer is neither. Mikasa loves Eren because he wrapped that scarf around her, because he gave her a purpose after she lost her entire family. To Eren, the scarf is a chain that ties Mikasa to him. To Mikasa, the scarf is a reminder of that kind boy who kept her warm outside that cabin in the mountains so many years ago. Mikasa holding onto the scarf is symbolic of Mikasa remembering Eren, and keeping him in her heart even after she moves on and gets married. Mikasa's future husband is obviously important to her, but Eren fundamentally changed her life. For him to ask her to forget about him is the exact opposite of what Mikasa would want. She wouldn't want that, anymore than Eren would want Mikasa to move on at all. Eren doesn't get to choose how Mikasa would grieve him, that's her choice. Mikasa chooses to kill Eren, but keep the scarf. She loved him, but she did the right thing in the end.
Not really. Eren lived with mikasa for 4 years in a path, he knows what mikasa feel for him and the scarf was like an engagement ring. He wanted her to get rid of the scarf because she was still young and he didn’t want her to feel sad the rest of her life thinking about him. She never got over him and decided to stay true to her love for him even after death. She stayed virgin and married to an dead eren which is what he lowkey wanted but he didn’t want because for him it stopped her from having an family. You are right with the fact that he don’t have the right to ask that out of her tho.
@@souland3566 he made that up she didn’t get married and didn’t move on. She didn’t adopted a child or other was armin’s at the end but when we see her with the children it was not jean but armin. How jean who is eren friend who go at his girlfriend right after he died knowing what they mean to each other? It would make no sense to the character. People just want to ship them so bad but their is many clue that shows she died a virgin and "married" to eren. She even got buried next to him. Why would she do that if she was married to jean and had children??
I love Zeke building sandcastles during what is essentially the end of the world. He's so iconic. One of my favorite characters to be honest. I absolutely love the moment of Armin saying thank you to Eren and it cuts to Eren looking shocked because it feels very reminiscent of Mikasa thanking Eren for wrapping her scarf. Both Armin and Mikasa thanked Eren for helping them and showed him appreciation when he thought he was worthless. They told him that he was worth something. That he didn't have to ever share that burden alone. After all these years, it's finally over. We are free. Goodbye to all of the amazing characters from this story, both alive and dead. Goodbye Armin and Mikasa. And to Eren, the boy who sought freedom, goodbye. Thank you, Isayama.
Zeke is a top character in AOT. He's just such an interesting character. And I wouldn't exactly say Eren's worth something after everything he did. I don't think hugging ur friend who just committed world genocide is a good thing either.
@anonisnoone6125 probably because you're thinking of it from a moralistic perspective, as an outside observer, which would be the stance we'd all predictably take, that's fine. You just have to insert yourself and walk a mile in their shoes, yeah, genocide 80% of ppl equals bad, obviously. But when your MCs are a minority group who are subjected to a slowburn genoicde, it's really you or them, it's a crap situation for everyone involved. The kindest last act Armin could do before Eren died was give him some form of peace.
@anonisnoone6125 Literally every who fought Eren here either committed or assisted in some form of genocide. Are we still acting like there were any heroes in the end? You think Eren is worthless but none of the others? Like what show have we been watching?
Whether you like or dislike this ending, you gotta admit, levi's ending as a character is so well done. Him saluting to all his dead comrades as it all finally ends is just amazing and even tear jerking imo.
I interpreted the final scene after the end credits as someone else finding the power of the titans; it looked like the tree Yimir fell down into. No matter what happens, even an 80% extinction, history repeats.
At least it's a child scouting and not and injured girl running for her life... perhaps the powers will manifest in a more benign way this time? I think there is still a small ray of hope in the end.
Highly doubt the kid would be finding titan powers since Eren made titan powers extinct but I do think whatever he finds or gains in that tree will be similar to what Ymir found in her tree. Whatever it is I agree that history repeats.
The ending was a perfect portrayal of reality, war will never end, there will always be a conflict, even if one side gets completely wiped out, in a few centuries, there will be a evil person born who want to control the world and cause chaos, But that does not mean you should give up trying to stop it, even if nothing changes, even if its meaningless, You have to fight, fight for the present, fight for your future, it doesnt matter whats the result, what matters is the present time you live in, dont lose hope just because its impossible to end wars, just fight and move forward, Thats what Eren's "TATAKAE" meant, it didnt meant to wipe people or cause a genocide but "TATAKAE" because you are free. Honestly with whats happening around the world right now, this episode got released at the best time possible

Ppl gotta understand what the show is abt. It ain't abt Eren trying to free EVERY eldian. It's abt Eren basically trying to buy some time for his friends to have a peaceful life, with no Titans and hate trying to kill them each time of the day Eren achieved it so u could see that the next war only concluded yearsssss after Mikasa died-goal achieved for Eren
the baby wrapped in the red blanket immediately reminded me of "red coat girl" in schindler's list. i'm not sure if isayama intentionally drew from this, but i love how both scenes used color juxtaposition in events that both involved such an immense loss of human life also, i think it's so cool that they used the cries of eren's voice actor's actual baby for that scene.
I think what we’re supposed to interpret from Historia’s ending is that Eren wanted this simple happy life for her. He could’ve used her in order to access the Founding Titan’s powers by having her get turned into a titan, but chose the harder route of fooling Zeke. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter who the husband is because we see how happy she turned out to be. I do get how it can be seen as random tho.
Historia got a tragic but satisfying ending. She had to do something she didn't wanna do in order not to die, but she lives with pride nonetheless and with her head up, just like Ymir told her to. She also seems happy with her new husband and kid. We also never knew the Farmer's identity because he was never important in the story to begin with.
Armin’s cries broke my heart But overall seeing their nightmare come to an end was wholesome and how much their pass experiences have made them closer than ever Farewell SNK
I wish they had put more backing behind the end, the context behind the massive tree is that the tree grew because he was still part titan and still had the founder, so when he died, the tree grew because of the founder and became a NEW titan tree, similar to the one that Ymir fell into and got her powers. Long story short, that end was essentially hinting at the power of the titans coming back after hundreds of thousands of years past the time of Eren, Mikasa, Armin, ect. Writing like that is super smart and easy to miss, siminal to how the very FIRST episode of Attack on Titan was named "To you, 2000 years in the future", and episode 80 was titled "From you, 2000 years ago. And at this point I'm just rambling but a SUPER nice detail is that if you go back all the way to episode 1, you can actually see grown up Eren and Armin standing in the croud when the scouts arrive, they had those details embeded into the story from the very start, we just looked past them so easily. Anyways, enough of my talking, the final season did the show justice and gave it the conclusion it deserved. Have a great rest of your day, and I hope that something I wrote here (assuming anybody reads) makes you go "Oh, seriously?".

With the island of Paradis being destroyed centuries, if not thousands of years later, while the natural default assumption is that it came due to retaliation from the outside world, I think it is also deliberately ambiguous and vague enough that the interpretation the conflict and destruction came about due to a civil war on Paradis is also a valid one. As multiple characters like Erwin and Kiyomi have been used to orate the theme of conflict occurring regardless of how many people are left in the world. As for the Historia plot-line, yeah that was kinda weird. People kept on assuming that there had to be an additional dimension to it, but it really was as simple as Historia got pregnant in order to prevent the military government from turning her into a titan and immediately feeding Zeke to her as soon as he came on to the island (thus allowing Eren's plans to proceed apace).
@@johnweebfpsI highly doubt it was. The war happened 2000 years later. By that point, history would've been forgotten by most people. The most likely reason is simply cos war is inevitable. Humans will always find a reason to fight even after a prolonged period of peace.
I think Historia child is probably Ymir. If you think about it it makes sense that Historia named her child after the other Ymir. Also she was born in the conflict and I don't think is farfetched to think she was born after the original Ymir finally decided to let go and disappeared. In conclusion, my headcanon is that Historia child is the reincarnation of Ymir and also named Ymir.
Definitely agree, the war clearly takes place so far into the future (far enough for Paradis to turn cyberpunk) that it can’t be a direct result of the rumbling. Titans don’t need to exist for humans to fight. We are fighting all the time IRL, and spoiler alert, nothing as catastrophic as the rumbling has ever happened
Some mf on TikTok was being a lame bitch and saying the ending was pointless because eren didn't save paradis, that it wasnt worth anything because people obviously retaliated. Like mf you clearly have no reading comprehension. It's not obvious at all why it happened. That the point. People are people. I feel bad for historia and also weirded out that the most depressed PTSD false identity mf Reiner seems to be perfectly normal in the future and still being a weird perv to historia. I always thought he'd have a sadder ending or something sort of self sacrifice.
I've been waiting. My friend and I was always looking forward to your reactions but unfortunately, he passed two days before the last episode was released due to his sickness. Thank you guys for reacting to AoT. You're one of our fave reactors! It's been a great journey with y'all! :)
When eren says I don't why but I had to do it, he doesn't mean he doesn't know why he did the rumbling, it's him pondering his nature & it's origin (his birth), he doesn't know why he was born w' such strong desire for freedom, all he knows is that he had been himself since birth
This episode was absolutely incredible. It was everything i expected and more. I think i cried about 5 times throughout the entire episode it was so powerful and tragic, yet so beautiful somehow. As someone who has been following this show for the past few years now it's very sad to see it end after all this time, but all good things must come to an end eventually. A lot of us Manga readers were sceptical to the ending but i think the people who didn’t like it simply didn’t understand AOT in the end. One of the scenes which people disliked the most was Eren’s breakdown to Armin in the paths. People felt it was pathetic, like Armin said it was, but also so out of character for him. Eren broke down because the emotional wall he built around himself finally came crashing down after it was all over. He let out his true feelings for the first time ever. The scene with Eren and Armin in the paths was so beautifully made. «Wait for me in hell». In the end they both realized neither of them were the good guys. No one was in aot, which is again a reoccuring theme in this show. As we saw in the end the cycle of hatred continued even after everything Eren did for them. This is what i LOVE about this show so much. It’s hyper realistic. It is basic human nature to turn to war sooner or later. As Eren stated himself «I dont know why i did all this, this all happened, because i am a stupid idiot who gained godly powers». This is kinda the same as what happened in the real world as well with certain bad people in our history, no? A cool little detail i think a lot of people missed it that in the intro of season 2 we see Zeke’s beast titan running around with tons of other animals. Those were all the previous Beast titans from the previous owners of it. Very cool to see all the previous nine titans finally being shown. Isayama’s foreshadowing is simply next level. He is a genius. The more u rewatch the show, the more details like this and foreshadowing u notice. It’s everywhere, placed right infront of our eyes, yet we dont realize it before rewatching it. This is one of the things that make this show the masterpiece it is. Also i can’t not mention the scene where all the people on the cliff were passing on the baby. That scene was actually inspired by Schindler’s list. I literally had fullbody chills throughout the entire segment. This was in my opinion the most beautiful episode of the show so far. Also the Music throughout the entire episode was incredible. They brought back so many bangers from the previous seasons which i loved. The scene in the cabin with Mikasa and Eren broke me. Her seeing the alternete timeline they could of had together if she just said her true feelings when they were talking at the top of the mountain in the last episode literally had me crying so hard. Eren telling her to forget about him but also wanting her not to find another man was childish yet fits Eren’s character so much. Deep down he is a child and had been botteling up these feelings since the start. Eren was the only character who in the end didn’t change at all. He was always like this, since the start. In the end Mikasa never forgot about Eren and got buried next to him with the same flowers she put there on his grave. AOT is one of the most tragic stories ever told, yet one of the most beautiful ones i have seen. Like Mikasa said earlier «this world is so cruel. It is also very beautiful.» Now since the show is finished we finally realize why the birds in so many scenes were so important. Falco in the first intro of season 4 reaching out to the birds, and Eren returning to Mikasa one last time as a white bird which symbolizes and represents "freedom" and "peace". Also big up to Armin’s VA this episode. Incredible performance. One other little scene some people tend to forget is the big plot twist that was revealed. Eren all along being the one that sent the smiling titan to kill his own mother to get the outcome he needed and the hatred which motivated him to kill the titans. It was supposed to be Bertholdt but, Eren already knew how everything would turn out in the paths if he didn’t change it to how he had seen it. «One of the powers of the founding titan is that my head is an entire mess, there is no future or past or present». Eren said that he tried to change everything he could but in the end killing 80% of humanity was the only choice he was left with to make the Eldians seem like heroes. He also blamed himself for the death of Sasha and Hange and the others along the way. The future was already set in stone. Eren had no control over it, and all along he was a slave to freedom. In the end he became what he hated the most. I just want to thank all of you reading this for this incredible journey and for the fantastic community aot has had. It has been one hell of a ride with yall. Attack on titan will go down in history as the greatest show of all time and a modern masterpiece, and nothing will change that. This show will for ever be my number one. Thank you Isayama for everything and thank you for changing my life ❤. "To the boy who sought freedom, goodbye."
They had the tail in Armin's mouth so he couldn't bite his tongue to transform. Imo, Eren was fine knowing that the cycle of hate can't be stopped and war ensuing in the far future. All he truly wanted was enough time for his loved ones to live out their lives peacefully, which he was able to achieve. Also, their final battle provided reassurance that even if the cycle continues and faced against overwhelming odds, there are people who would struggle all they can to make things right. Ymir was in love with Fritz. She kept the titan curse alive for 2000 years because it was what Fritz wanted. Ymir witnessed Mikasa do what she could not, to do the right thing, to let go, regardless of how much it hurts. This gave Ymir closure and was able to pass on, thus ending the titan curse. Edit: None of these are confirmed by the author, just my thoughts.
The anime refined and expanded Eren & Armin's last conversation together. (The entire community sees this as a massive improvement) The ending was also more clear on Paradis being destroyed long after 100 years. There are a few other reasons people have issue with it, some being legit confusion over some vague plot points, or some plot holes.... and the rest are just crazy people that wanted "Eren to Win and kill everyone"
Coz it was filled with plot holes and it was a very messy ending and if u want to know watch some video on YT on why the ending is trash (there is a reason there was not a single soul telling it was a good ending when the manga ended)
Mikasa crying under the tree, and seeing "the end", Armin crying after seeing Mikasa carrying him broke me in a way words cant express it, im thankful to be alive and see this beautiful anime ending but im so heart broken and my brain can't fully accept that's really the ending
The tree is how Ymir originally got her power. Because life itself was inside it. So it was saying that basically the same problem they got rid of came back in a sense with another tree that lasts forever.
Fun fact, back in season 1 in the battle of Trost, when Eren was about to get eaten by the bearded titan he said «As if i could die in a place like this…» Kinda ironic isn’t it, that in the end he did die in the mouth of a titan. Isayama really had everything planned out from the start.
I’ve waited 2000 years for the reaction to drop. But also, I’ve been in the 10 year club. What a great journey. What a great series. The final episode came at such a time where we are seeing a cyclical nature of war and it really hit me hard. That said, what an amazing series and end of it all. I don’t even know what to do with myself.
Glad you like the ending, I think that with the anime it is being more accepted. I think that nobody will know how to use such power, that's part of the message of the story in my opinion. Love your reaction!

@@NaBrOHthey didn’t change much, maybe a few lines of dialogue. I always thought this ending was fitting for the story, it’s perfect in my opinion
Fuck man we won't see another anime like Attack On Titan for a long time
Indeed
One thing to point out, Paradis being nuked thousands of years later likely has nothing to do with Eren, the Rumbling, or the Titans. It's far more likely that it was just a war over oil or some other dumb shit humans fight about. The point of it is to show that it was never really about the Titans, because even without them, humans still find other reasons to kill each other. Just like Erwin said "Humanity will never stop fighting itself.. until it shrinks to a size of one or fewer."
It wasn't 1000s of years later :P It was less than 100 - after pages released for manga (the newest ones) XD
@@Sir-Banethere wasn't time mentioned in the manga tho? you cappin??

EXACTLY! People always misinterpreted that scene

Ngl when the rumbling stopped and everyone stopped screaming including the baby, it kind of cracked me up lol
A few fun facts:
1) Eren didn't open his eyes during rumbling, he opened his eyes in his last breath just to see Mikasa
2) Mikasa wrote “Here forever rest peacefully, my most beloved, my dear.

When Lupa san said “Just attack! No Titan” made me realize that it is the current world situation with all the hate and war. Not a next season of Aot but rather the never-ending season of our world and life.

I stg as soon as I heard Lupa say "TEN YEARS" in the beginning i just KNEW the edit was gonna be there during Eren's breakdown and i was NOT disappointed lmfao
Edit: The song that played during Mikasa's final scene and the credits is titled "To You 2000...or 20,000 Years From Now" so I think it is safe to assume that the final scene with the kid and his dog was 20,000 years into the future. And looking at it that way, I'd be surprised if the reason Paradis got nuked in the end was because of the Rumbling. We have extremally vague knowledge of what happened 10,000 years ago on our own planet, let alone 20,000 years.
oh snap i watched the patreon unedited one so i missed the edits lol now i got to watch this just for the edits lol
20,000?! That's crazy
in the anime paradis survived and thrived for much longer than the manga. in the manga it was plausible that they were destroyed due to the cycle of hatred returning but in the anime it just shows the cycle of war and violence never ending no matter the era, it had nothing to do with the rumbling
and then a new founder was chosen as the kid probably falls into the tree, just as ymir did.

「I considered a happy ending where the war ends and everything turns out well. However, overlaying that with the current reality makes it banal and lacking in credibility. It's sad, but I had no choice but to give up on the happy ending.」
I like this final episode. It's inevitable for any popular series to have mixed opinions about the ending.
I want to thank all the staff for their hard work.
i love Levi's little self thought about him having NO regret in choosing Armin, it just goes to prove that it was the right choice.
40:25 Anime onlies are never trusting manga readers again. The way so many are just confused what why the ending received so much backlash is giving me life 💀
nah most manga readers liked the ending too the ones that dont like it are just a loud minority they were mad that eren wasnt emo and got angry when he showed emotion towards armin
@@GamingJunisthey took "the emptiest trashcan is the loudest one" Too seriously

I though the white rose at the end symbolized Mikasa not moving on
@@souland3566 he made that up she didn’t get married and didn’t move on. She didn’t adopted a child or other was armin’s at the end but when we see her with the children it was not jean but armin.

I interpreted the final scene after the end credits as someone else finding the power of the titans; it looked like the tree Yimir fell down into. No matter what happens, even an 80% extinction, history repeats.
At least it's a child scouting and not and injured girl running for her life... perhaps the powers will manifest in a more benign way this time? I think there is still a small ray of hope in the end.
@@rasengan124 I was thinking it that way too, perhaps instead of using the Titans for war, the boy will use em to rebuild and help civilization.
But thing is Eren completely got rid of the titans. So who knows what the kid will wish for
Highly doubt the kid would be finding titan powers since Eren made titan powers extinct but I do think whatever he finds or gains in that tree will be similar to what Ymir found in her tree. Whatever it is I agree that history repeats.
Maybe the creature will join with the dog this time. Be like, "Damn, these humans just keep killing each other. Dogs are happy with just a stick."

35:48 Not Hitch yawning while pretending she's with the Yeagerists 😂😂
I think what we’re supposed to interpret from Historia’s ending is that Eren wanted this simple happy life for her. He could’ve used her in order to access the Founding Titan’s powers by having her get turned into a titan, but chose the harder route of fooling Zeke. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter who the husband is because we see how happy she turned out to be. I do get how it can be seen as random tho.
This. I think the point of not specifying Historia's husband was the implication that he wasn't anyone special. It could have literally been anyone.
I can’t stop watching the Levi/Mikasa vs Eren sequence. That roar Levi’s VA let’s out when he launches the thunder spear 🔥
Armin’s cries broke my heart
But overall seeing their nightmare come to an end was wholesome and how much their pass experiences have made them closer than ever
Farewell SNK
Interesting fact, friends. The species of bird that adjusted Mikasa's scarf is called a Yeager. I'm crying
12:55 "they just walking like it's Tuesday" had me laughing hard

People kept on assuming that there had to be an additional dimension to it, but it really was as simple as Historia got pregnant in order to prevent the military government from turning her into a titan and immediately feeding Zeke to her as soon as he came on to the island (thus allowing Eren's plans to proceed apace).
well by your logic on historia part, your first paragraph can also be simple, its was the retaliation of the world simple as that
@@johnweebfpsI highly doubt it was.

Don't know if y'all noticed, but in the very end, the full grown tree looks exactly like the one Ymir entered before gaining titan powers
It is also very beautiful.»
Now since the show is finished we finally realize why the birds in so many scenes were so important.
Thank you Isayama for everything and thank you for changing my life ❤.

brooo remember when armin said he was always the last up the tree.. still the same till the end bc eren died, then mikasa, then armin died last..
The scene with the baby had me tearing up, and watching y'all react to it got me tearing up again.
Still can't believe people call this ending bad
The anime refined and expanded Eren & Armin's last conversation together. (The entire community sees this as a massive improvement) The ending was also more clear on Paradis being destroyed long after 100 years. The tree is how Ymir originally got her power. Because life itself was inside it. So it was saying that basically the same problem they got rid of came back in a sense with another tree that lasts forever.
