    Great video , agree with everything you spoke about. Bought a scan gauge to plug into my OBD2 which gives you the ability to monitor many of your cars systems. Tranny temps being the important one when towing. Your old Jeep would be well and truly built before computerized engine management systems. Apart from towing in a gear that is 1 to 1, if you have sport mode select it. This will make your tranny hold on to a gear longer before changing up.

      Yeh those scan gauges are great 👍👍 Definitely worth having for sure.

      Is locking in sports mode equivalent to lock up switch? TIA

    The servicing issue revolves around two airy fairy issues. One is the green thing, fewer services result in a lower carbon foot print (on paper) and the other is fewer services results in a lower cost of ownership (apparently)!!
    The issue of gear selection is not the issue today it was with older models, my Colorado Ute's 6speed auto has rations or 0.65, 0.85, 1.15--etc so the argument to select a gear of 1 or above would put it in 4th all the time and therefore sit at 2500 rpm doing 105ks an hour, not ideal, it actually towed very efficiently in 6th gear along the flat at 95-100ks. Upgraded valve body and it was even better.
    I bit the bullet, and bought a 2500 yank tank for towing the van, best decision ever. Built in cooler, huge oil capacity, solid truck gear box, and the best thing is you can select top gear, so operates as a full auto, but you tell it what top gear is to stop the hunting, (for the rare occasion it does want to hunt, which is very very rare), why other manufacturers don't do this astounds me. Oh, they don't care, they want it to go poopy in its trousers just out of warranty.

      So very true, make them good enough to last until just out of warranty 🫤🫤 the American trucks are great for towing purposes, do the job quite well 👍

    I've just got a Holden Colorado 6-speed and learnt about the dreaded shudder issue. I don't seem to have the problem and I've just had the transmission serviced. But I'm beginning to regret having put a bull bar and winch on the front because I can see that it definitely impedes airflow, plus the guy who serviced transmission says that there's not enough space to put in a cooler. But other people with the same setup say that they had no problems putting in the cooler. Mmmm
    PS Very Useful Video. Thanks

    • @jeepinoz
      @jeepinoz  7 месяцев назад

      I can't remember 100% but I am about 99.9% sure that I have fitted coolers to Colorado's before. Can't remember what size but I'm sure I would have fitted something. Sorry I'm not much help 🫤🫤

    • @rossatkinson3160
      @rossatkinson3160 6 месяцев назад

      Have a look at the HPD cooler, it fits off to one side, dropped my tranny temps 20degs. I do not have a bar or winch to interfere with airflow. Hand in hand with the bigger HPD intercooler, it dropped engine temps 20degs as well.

    • @rossatkinson3160
      @rossatkinson3160 6 месяцев назад

      Oh, and mine still got the Torque Converter shudder, replaced under warranty, but it is caused by a faulty valve in the valve body, something Holden did not fix, so I discovered, my tranny guys replaced/upgraded said valve and unit ran much better. hopefully shudder issue never returns.

    Hi Ray, did fitting the larger trans cooler in front of the radiator cause much of an increase in coolant temp?

  • @beyhankoc2910

    Great video. I just started towing my transmission temperature and sometimes reach over 100 degrees. Will that damage the transmission? Thanks

    • @jeepinoz
      @jeepinoz  Год назад

      Strongly suggest you get a better transmission cooler. It's definitely not ideal to have it running that kind of temperature. The better the quality of the oil, the better they withstand heat, but it's still not good.

    What's too hot for a transmission?.

    • @jeepinoz
      @jeepinoz  7 месяцев назад

      I don't like going over 100°C. Some synthetic oils can handle more heat, but it's just a good rule of thumb.
