    One should always check to be sure he has all his tension rods present and accounted for before making a drum tuning tutorial.

    A good way to combat a missing lug, is to only leave 4 lugs in a cross pattern (if it’s 8 lug)& if your bearing edges are good, it should sound about the same

      If you hang your floor Tom then it's a floating Tom.

    It’s not an overtone you hear. It’s the head tuned way below its usable range.

    I would rather use a small strip of a cotton sheet within the drum to deaden it slightly then tape all day long.

    you can get rid of the overtones by tuning, gaffer tape is for noobs
