    Out of a lot of the videos I’ve watched about tuning my snare this one was by far the best one in helping me tune my snare the way I want. Great job!

    I've never seen the finger press on the middle of the batter head before and tried it out. Made it way easier to catch lugs slightly out of tune. Great advice!

    I really enjoyed your video I can’t wait to try it on my Piccolo metal snare. I also like to know if you have similar videos on tuning the bass drum and the toms?

    Great video. My favorite head is the Hybrid from Evans. Some people like the 1 ply, some like the two.

    In 8:23 and 9:55 minutes. The perfect sound of phat snare drums.
    The best snare drum sound is the low tunings.

    Dear Philip,
    My name is Dalton Essary and I am a freshman studying Music Business at Dallas Baptist University. I was planning on sending a letter but was unsure of the address to send it to so I thought I would give this a try! I myself attend Stonegate church and serve as a drummer on Wednesday nights for their youth nights. I am originally from kansas and have been playing drums for 6 years now and began playing at my church my freshman year in our youth band. I played on that for 4 years throughout high school, and the Lord blessed us with such an incredible staff and group of students. It was incredible. I have always been very indesicive in my passions, but for the last 6 years it has been so clear to me through experiences and through prayer and discernment that the Lord has placed music on my heart and in my life for no other reason to glorify him and the passion he has given me for doing that is incredibly large. I am contacting you to see if there is any chance at all that I would be able to grab coffee with you and just talk and hear from you on your experience thus far leading worship and playing drums/recording albums thus far and what that has been like for you from a practial standpoint as well as a spiritual standpoint. Since that is exactly what I want to do with my life, I thought there could be nothing better than to sit don and get advice from someone who is currently doing that! I completely understand you guys are very busy, but if there is anyway we could set this up, that would be incredible. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your heart for worship and leading others for the purpose of glorifying the Lord. God bless you and thank you!!!

    does putting a stick under the snare wires not put more pressure on the hoop? which in turn gives more tension and probably a different pitch around those lugs?

    • @domg9186

      No because the throw off is completely loose..

    Hey there... I have a major problem and I'm hoping you can help. My snare wire doesent sit on the resonance head when the head is tightened table top tight, the wire is at least 1mm over the resonance head parallely not touching the head at any point. Alternatively it touches when tension rods near the throw off and butt plate are detune. Can you tell me why this happens and what should I be doing to correct this....

    • @gabe1655
      @gabe1655 4 года назад +1

      maybe the snare bed on your shell doesnt support the wires you're using. try some other ones

    • @RMHendrickson
      @RMHendrickson 4 года назад

      Current Banter Exactly. I have a Super 30 on my snare, but the snare bed needs to be widened to accommodate it, which I made sure the builder did when he built my kit.

      ruman khan, and your snare sound like crap also isnt it? No matter what tuning you done, it has overtone and sound very sharp like different frequency that hurt ears. I knew because i use to be like that back in the day. I just bought the new one now.. I put that old in store room.

    What’s your process for mic’ing your snare? I get the basics of doing the top. Do you mic the bottom? I’ve never tried but heard of putting the mic in the middle of the strands. True for you?

    Just about everyone I’ve seen on these tuning videos never do the true”star” tuning . They’ll do a lug then go right next too the last one they tuned,then go somewhere else but never the star pattern.
