A moon colony should be made before mars. Its way easier to communicate and help with someone there than on mars. Also will be a good test.
Yes, but the moon doesn't have Arnold going "GaaaaahhhhArrrrgh!"
It's to spy on all the moon aliens.
Moon dust is harder to work with than mars
@@saltysax im pretty sure lunar dust is a small price to pay for being able to be semi safe by being a 3 - 4 day flight from earth
The moon landing never happened
So if that never happened you must question everything that has to do with “space”
In all my life, I have never heard anyone pronounce Magellan as "MEG-uh-luhn". I always heard (and used) "Muh-JELL-ehn".
So has the rest of the University-educated world. As well as dictionary-reading people everywhere. At least, dictionaries titled 'Oxford English'. Webster was a schmuck!
I was just about to clue him in, when I saw your comment😂. Apparently the narrator fell asleep during history class.
I thought the exact same thing! Why is he calling it the Megallen instead of Ma-Gel-lan or Ma-gel-len.
I also wondered if he didn't go to school and learn about Ferdinand Magellan like everyone else did, as well as how to properly pronounce his name. lol
The way he pronounced it sounded better than the way most English speakers do it. Magalhães is a Portuguese name, and even if you change its spelling it makes no sense to change from a hard G to a soft G
@@TheWatcher802 How a name is pronounced is going to be different for every different language. While he was born in Portugal, & his name at birth was spelled Fernão de Magalhães in that language, however it still does not have the "Meg" sound to it, & instead sounds closer to Mog-an-yoys as best I can tell from listening to it pronounced by a person speaking it in Portuguese.
Even in the Spanish language it is spelt Fernando de Magallanes, which sounds like Mog-a-yan-es.
In any case both spellings & pronunciation translated into English becomes Ferdinand Magellan, which sounds like Fur-de-nand Ma-gel-lan or Ma-gel-len.
In absolutely none of those languages does it ever sound anything like MEG-Ellen, with the mispronunciation of MEG being the most heinous part.
How will the new suit handle moon dust? The old suits were rapidly degraded by the fine, abrasive powder.
Exactly. In general, "empty" space is pretty corrosive to just about everything humans can craft. Short of making the suits from synthetic diamond and carbon weaves, there will always be major issues with degradation.
Overall, the universe wasn't crafted for travel via explosive propulsion. Certainly not for organics.
🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
I was thinking about that. Probably will require major housecleaning and TLC.
Hopefully maybe a carbon fiber mesh on the outside?
It dosnt matter whrn its more fashionable for the fans
@@criss26565 But how would that work against lunar dust?
1. I love that they got the FAMK costume designer for their suit
2. Can’t wait for lunar Twitch Streamers
good day folks! Today ya boi gonna be exploring the south pole of the Moon!
BOIS! THE PLAN IS SIMPLE: COLLECT SAMPLES FROM POLAR CRATERS, BRING THEM BACK TO HOME BASE FOR ANALYSIS.
Dude, I'd actually go on twitch if they did that
Well if we travel to planets like Venus, Moon, Mars, Titan and Asteroids we gonna need an two or three different types of spacesuits for different environments. If were going to travel interplanetary or one for all conditions!
I don’t think any space suit would be fit for Venus
@@theakiwar9118 plus there's no real reason to go to that hell-planet right now, unless we need large amounts of acid or some rare mineral or something
@@carbonatedphantom8388
If Venus were to be visited you would only need a suit that's acid resistant. If you can stay on the clouds. Thankfully regular air is a lifting gas there.
The surface is not feasible to make a suit for right now. Too hot and the pressure is similar to the lowest point of the ocean.
@@mill2712you could use some rot of acid resistant coating like an enamel to help with the acid
just like in the movies. like all the cartoons this video uses.
Tiangong is basically just the “Fine, I’ll do it myself” *proceeds to put on the infinity gauntlet* meme
ISS: I see no problem with a close parking point for multi stations, with a practical common tug between for positioning and eventual unit orbital decay. (Unused units can be uncrewed/sealed, mothballed for power and utilities (50>% of a unit is for human movement) it's Lego folks)
Good video. I had no idea what Venus mission you were talking about before you put it on screen. Might I recommend that you look up the proper pronunciation of Magellan?
They’re gonna de-orbit the space station?! I can’t believe they’re going through with this.
Thank you for yet another awesome video , im looking forward to the Starship launch , and more ideas and plans for a moon base , mars base and a titan base .
But like you said , its going to be a generational mission .
It still boggles my mind that they did that 60 years ago... We are so far ahead in technology, yet space travel is still such a difficult task due to the many risks associated. We've come a long way, yet on the galactic scale it kind of humbles you to remember that we still have a long way to go.
Different breed of people back then. Many of them were from the great brain boom of the early 20th century and the world wars. These days instead of excellence we value 'diversity' and 'equity', and with it, we've traded away a meritocracy able to get complex things done. I would be VERY surprised if we landed on the moon with actual humans any time in the next 10-15 years. Hard to advance something as complex as a space program when western society is spiraling downward hard. There's a reason the only thing we've accomplished in decades is a telescope and a couple rovers, which itself took over a decade to build.
never underestimate how far men are willing to go on a dick measurement context.
Gonna be honest... the ISS and space agency collaboration is holding back progress, china being kicked out of the ISS meant they built the first space station in decades, i have a feeling that its because of asteroid mining/inevitable earth colony schisms and separatism that most goverment just dont want to invest in space, why threaten having your gold reserves be rendered worthless or allowing Mars or a Jovian goverment eventually outshine you, they have the resources, they control of everyone and they dont mind on losing some few luxuries if that means they can be powerful and rich for much longer
@@shadow7988 I think you're forgetting elon's reusable rockets. If our survival depended on it, we'd all be in space by now. However I do admit, there are profoundly incompetent people in scary positions that safeguard our existence. Pandemic, political unrest, social media insanity.

I always love when NASA shows us cool new technology that will never be used by them
Thank you, we all appreciate it.
Great update! But, really, do look up the correct pronunciation of Magellan (mah-JEL-ahn, not MAG-a-lin)!
We are 1 step closer towards those sci fi spacesuits
1st we need to find a mass relay. Then fancy new suits should come soon after.
@@Ntmoffi no we find a Halo ring
@@labbit3574 When you first saw Halo, were you blinded by it's majesty?
Since it is one of the world's greatest achievements I'm surprising not making the space station into a museum but that would cost way more money
Or why not send it out farther into space if they dont plan on doing anything with it. Give it the voyager treatment and let it set out flying across the universe.
Or with the huge cost of getting every gram up, sent it to the moon for spare parts and scrap, hundreds off miles worth of wiring alone must make it worth strapping a rocket to it.
Sad to see the ISS ending it’s stellar service in this fashion. My wife worked at Kennedy Space Center for most of the Space Shuttle missions which delivered the components used to assemble the ISS. I myself was initially trained as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist back in 1976. Part of my training was on the old Apollo Space Suit. It was quite something in it’s day and after technical school advanced training on the suit was determined by your assignment. Most went on to regular aircraft and only those working on U2/SR71 received the advanced training. Nice to see new space suits finally coming on line. My sister worked on the old SkyLab orbiter and I worked with the 301st Air Rescue for Space Shuttle Missions STS 1 - 5. All were flights of the shuttle Columbia. Sad to see an era come to an end……
The whole black stylish design for the suits I noticed would probably be a heat issue, so that’s cool ig that o noticed that
So the 2nd stage uses liquid hydrogen and oxygen. Those fuels are so light and the 2nd stage is so big that it might be able to slow down higher up in the atmosphere so the heat of re-entry is spread out over a longer time period. The x-33 would have used the same re-entry method.
They need to throw a 360 camera on top of that suit helmet.
i came here for space suits, have learned much more. pumped. Thank you

Thanx Googke for the translation🤭

I can't wait for the streaming video
I love space it’s hard to imagine unless you can. I wanted to be an astronaut as a kid & even built a rocket out of wood, metal & plastic sheet. I even called myself Buzz for years & of course my fav film is Toy Story after Snow White.
I still dream of going to space when I’m cleaning toilets at my local sports club although I prefer watching countdown
those suits look so fire
I’m a kid that wants to be an astronaut, I saw the announcement of the Artemis II crew during lunch today and I’m still goin bonkers

"Please sign this contract, Ms. Mmn."
I can't freakin' wait till we get some new UHD footage from the crew walking around on the moon. It's going to be surreal.
Can't wait for the new space exploration expansion projects
Roscosmos is basically grounded (quite literally) due to sanctions on all aerospace components. I doubt they’d be able to get their stations up without China bankrolling them into becoming a second CNSA. I could always be blindsided, but like most Roscosmos plans, it’s likely not going to happen. ILRS could still happen though as a Chinese-dominated station if all goes right for them.
Not like it would have worked, anyways. Lmfao
@@griffinmckenzie7203 how did you come to that conclusion
@@armaniwebb4467 As we've quite readily seen, things promised by Russia don't exactly tend to go to plan. What with all the rampant corruption and money laundering their government has.
As a Russian I say Roskosmos is a disgrace
There is even a saying "Yura, we fucked up everything"
This is about the fact that if Yuri Gagarin saw the current state of Russian space programs, he would fall into despair
@@griffinmckenzie7203 Facts. They can't keep a supply line running for a couple of miles, but they're going to suddenly build a super advanced space station? Yeah right.
Cant wait for the livestream :0
The Space Race, as always, a very informative video. Is it possible that at 11:07, MAG-uh-lynn should be matching the pronunciation of the explorer of old, i.e., Ferdinand muh-JELL-un?
Nope
He says it wrong, but in other languages it actually sounds lije "Mah-GeL-Lan" with a hard g. And not a j
But in english it's different, so yeah.
He was still wrong tho, just not in the second part
Adam Savage built a cosplay space suit for g4, that was very similar, very cool.
Was very interested in the new suit when I heard they were partnering with a major deepsea diving suit company.
7:43 skip directly to see the suit
this is extremely exciting, I had a dream at 7 years old that we had an entire colony on the moon, but our moon mining started accelerating decoupling.
Great video, with the possible exception of the pronunciation of Magellan. 😉
Sick!
Good video. My only nitpick is that you mispronounced Magellan.
They show the suit at 6:45
I want y’all to put more cameras on the ships

a shame the ISS won't be preserved for historical purposes. I hope everything is recorded and future generations have a comprehensive image of what it was like

Wow we are still many years away before we are able to put a pub in space
Get ready for another epic movie
They should send to Mars or Phobos see if it's still there when we arrive. Got nothing to lose. Would be no rush. Would take very little propulsion. Kinda like when I would push my toy boats across a big puddle after it rained.
That much mass pushed out hard enough to escape earth and lunar gravity? Expensive, you could do so much with the resources that would be wasted.
Just looking at the thumb and thinking about the practicalities (or lack thereof) of a black spacesuit.
(Just saw that the black parts will be white in final design).
When I saw the thumbnail I thought Mysterio comes back for a new Spidey movie :D
glad to see alaska make space news. even if i'm 8 months late
New space suit at 6:48, thank you!
damn these new skins are pretty cool, can't wait for the next update
I want to see a person in that space suit, do the griddy
this is me on the left 9:00 on the freaking earth when its a little cold....
RSI Zeus Exploration Suit from Star Citizen.
Axiom, a Canadian tech company, designed the suits.
One of the biggest problems they had on the moon was Luna regolith, which got into everything. Why have many overhangs of material in a suit would invite regolith to lodge in there. Why on earth would they do that?
Apparently there is a system where electricity is used to make the suit have a “positive” charge to deflect the lunar particles away.
Russia leaving the ISS hurts my soul
Space is the ultimate symbol of cooperation, Russia and the US worked together in that beautiful object in orbit. But then Putin threw a temper tantrum and started a war that did not need to happen and now the cosmonauts, which I am pretty sure never wanted any of this, have to be left behind.
Unfortunately the only place where cooperation works these days is in a movie.
Corrupt politicians co-operate across state lines so there's that.
They have been a pain in the butt for quite some time and when they had the monopoly on man rated rockets they got worse. It was time to part ways and no longer having their problems hold things back.
Yeah cause NATo breaking a treaty and parking weapons on their front door has nothing to do with it... just a "temper tantrum".
@@lincolnpascual what treaty would that be?
They should load it with power, sensors and cameras. send it out in to deep space like a voyager probe.
Are you serious? Imagine the ammount of fuel that would have to be carried to orbit that would need even more fuel... its pointless
you can't use a space station as a probe
The new dlc looks insane no cap
The idea of a bunch of astronauts using walking sticks is practical, but funny to me.
what's the source for the cycling clip at 8:22 ?
I’m curious of what wristwatch they’ll send the moon too. Will they get Omegas again or will it be another brand.
first like to the video! love this content!

About fucking time
Gotta start cleaning up the orbital debris problem first….
I wish we had optional taxes to directly support specific government programs. I would give a few bucks every month to help NASA get us back to the moon.
New space suits at: 5:55
Thank you Eneri.
One of the problems I see with the suits is that the people inside the suits will have to do a lot of kneeling to reach stuff on the surface of the moon. Those suits don't appear to have any abrasion protection on the knees. That worries me.
I want suits like halo/destiny.
You have to wait for another 20 years
How is Axiom dealing with lunar dust?
bro, YOU MADE ME THINK THAT THEY UPDATED STAR CITIZEN MAN WITH THAT THUMBNAIL.
utterly terrifying that NASA somehow trusts the commercial companies and their modular pieces. Its like mixing lego with mega blocks, it might look similar but the pieces kinda don't work together as well, scary stuff.
Sierra Space... as in Space Quest???? Roger Wilco????
in da future we gon wear storm trooper suits for vacation on mars
They get a new studio to film another moon landing too?
Look a new suit to use in “training/test” and CGI.
Aw man I was really excited that they were finally going with an evil look for the space suits
There going to be needed later so yes, build the tug
Instead of retiring the ISS, nasa could crown the space station with a saucer like dome and turn it into a “Starship”.
Oh damn the new DLC is here already?
Does this mean we'll be getting lunar streamers? Time to drop a donation and ask them to do a flip on the moon.
cant wait for that lol
I wish but honestly we're not landing people on the moon for at LEAST another 10-15 years MINIMUM.

I really like the back hatch feature, but can the astronaut vlose the hatch by himself?
Well yes the suit is made for the moon but the life support on his back (PLSS) will also weigh in excess of 200lbs, which I can guarantee he is not currently wearing so he may want a walking stick on the moon, too.
Astronauts with canes look pretty based
We should make the ISS an orbiting museum.
