When I watched the Definitive Playthrough with Troy Baker (Joel) and Nolan North(uh…a later NPC), they had Hana Hayes (Sarah) as a guest for the first ep. While the death scene played out, Troy and Hana were holding each other crying while Nolan, unfamiliar with that scene, looked like he’d been hit by a bus. After the fade to black, Troy basically told Nolan (who was on the stick), “Welcome to the game.”
Also, no coffee! You will be provided with plenty of adrenaline. Try to avoid get lost in thoughts, you missed some important resources because you were playing with one hand while reminiscing some personal stories. This can lead you to a lockdown later in the game...

That's absolutely crazy, that scene was so heart wrenching 💔 I remember I had my friends over for us to take turns playing and I just put the controller down and cried for a moment before continuing playing. That hit me so hard.
@@virginiaandrade8009 The TV show is so much worse. They spend the first half of the first episode letting you see what a good person she is, only to kill her off half way through the episode. And, the first episode is a double length episode (apparently the show runners rightfully didn't want to finish the first episode where the opening credits of the game happened...). Knowing the story, I watched the first part, getting to know and like Sara, grumbling to myself that the show was being so mean forcing the audience to really like her.
I loved the irony of the “army’s here, that’s me!” right before the first truly heinous moment of the game occurred. Like, girl, you’re gonna wanna take that back in about thirty seconds. 😂
At least for once a realistic depiction of the US military. Unfortunately so many Americans still fall for the propaganda of 'we are the good guys' every year :(
I love the fact that you actually play and enjoy the game, most of these streamers just run right through every game without stopping to enjoy the side content or the beauty, just B line to ending. You seem to actually take your time to enjoy the games, big plus!

I've played this game a half dozen times, watched at least as many reactions, and Sarah's death never gets easier. The way she calls out for her dad, the way Tommy just collapses because he knows what's coming, Joel pleading. The writing and mocap for this game is just sublime. Gut wrenching and ugly, but sublime.

If you're looking for another blind playthrough of both Part 1 and 2 I recommend the channel "lil indigestion". Ryan plays all games blind, is very thorough and has a degree in creative writing (or something of the sort) so it's fun to have him nerd out over dialogue and storytelling. It is not always easy to find good playthroughs of your most beloved games and small channels are often a bit hidden away by the algorithm. That's why I like to recommend amazing small channels to people who seem to be up for their content.

Instead of cutting straight to Joel waking up 20 years later, the developers knew that the player needed time to recover from Sarah's death. THAT is the synthesis. We're left reeling emotionally while this incredible, haunting, soaring music comes into our lives while the world keeps spinning through the news stories. So, while it's us a chance to breathe it's also keeping us on edge and saying, "Welcome. Welcome to this world." Plunge. It's like a disturbing rollercoaster that takes you to this place with the opening and never lets you off until "Okay."
Oh man, I'm loving this playthrough! Your slow appreciation of the worldbuilding, taking the time to have character insights, appreciating the scenery...it's such a fun ride. Subscribed! ("Any hot local health packs in my area?" absolutely murdered me.)

I felt so bad when she said that she thought this was a chill cosy game. Talk about having to switch your mindset 180 at the spot. Also, I've seen that intro so many times and I still cry watching it. It must be the best intro sequence in gaming history. Happy I found this channel, really enjoy the chaotic playstyle and now I'm moving on to the next Last of Us video. That's one plus with being late to a playthrough, you can just binge it.

I LOVE watching people play this for the first time. That intro makes everyone cry their eyes out. You probably already know this by now, but when you're being stealthy and you hear this light rumble sound, that means you're exposed and in their line of sight. When you hear that, take cover before they spot you. 👍🏻
I'm impressed with the captioning and timestamps in the video, that's nice detail. About the prison experiment- it was later discovered to be "defective", as several of the guards were bribed by the researchers to be more aggressive, thus muddying the legitimacy of the results.

The Sarah death scene is one of the best scenes in a movie or game. At that point you’ve been with the characters for what, maybe 20 minutes. But it hits so hard. So well acted - the noises Sarah makes and Troy Baker’s (Joel) sincere pleading and suffering. Especially in a scene that takes just a few minutes.
Everytime i wanna find a new youtuber/streamer to watch, the last of us is the first thing i watch to see if i like them. The story and all and how the person react to what happens and how they interpret it shows me exactly how they are! I already know i will love your playthroughs esp because you mentioned a plaque tale which has my whole heart ❤️

I am having so much fun watching you play this. I am a blind gamer, and I was able to beat that game on hard mode because of the accessibility features that they put into the game. It’s wonderful because I used to have some vision and played all the time. It’s a lot harder these days. I hope naughty dog keeps doing what they’re doing and other game developers will follow suit.

You're doing great so far! You've a missed a few things, but everybody does. And I appreciate that you're paying attention to the world building things like notes and graffiti. I guess I'll try to offer some advice, but since this episode was uploaded a week ago, you must be halfway done the game by now. Oh well. Regarding stealth, the key is to take your time. Stay behind cover and watch your enemies. You can also make use of Listen Mode to watch them even if a wall is in the way. You can then learn where they go and plan how you're going to get behind them. A few fans might complain that it's boring, but you'll find that most people will appreciate good stealth. The other thing is to look around a lot using your Listen Mode. That way you won't be taken by surprise by someone beside you or behind you that you didn't know was there. Lastly, keep in mind that if you blow your cover you can re-establish stealth. Run a short distance and hide and the enemies will know you're around somewhere but they won't know where. I guess that's all for now. See ya in the next episode!

When you said that that first part was an absolute nightmare, that is EXACTLY what it was, in more ways than one. Joel was having a nightmare about the day the apocalypse began and when he lost Sarah. The apocalypse did start 20 years earlier, and we were in present day, watching Joel's nightmare about that point in time with him. I just started watching your playthrough of this series, and I am enjoying it very much so far. I have played both games multiple times through and I currently do personal speedruns of Part 1 (the remake version). I noticed that you are part way through TLOU Part II at this point, I can imagine that you didn't expect a rollercoaster of a ride like this one, and you still have more to go. I am glad to see you enjoying this series as much as I have. Keep up the good work. BTW, thank you for your service in the military. I come from a military family as well (2 great uncles fought in WWII, my father was in the Air force, and I was in the Navy NJROTC program in high school. I am very hard of hearing, so I wasn't able to enlist in active duty unfortunately, but really enjoyed the time in ROTC. I wish you every success with this channel.
Oh this was recommended and I love this playthough already. Its rare for someone to not know anything about it and have your playstyle of how you look around. I've played/watched this game countless times over the years and i've noticed things for the first time in the background with yours. So this is going to be fun to follow along with! Look forward to this game and who knows what else in the future.
The whole series' message is playing with the dark side of love. Every character in every episode uses love to make brutal/and/or tough decisions. And though the Apcolypse heightens all of this and allows for worst case scenarios, it is applicable in our society too in much smaller ways. A subversive look of love and the corrosive effects it can have on the world. Both in the micro and micro sense. We never usually think of love that way. Usually it is love trumps all.
my only exposure to TLOU is the TV show, and I've been meaning to watch the gameplay since I finished it. I'm only 20 minutes in to this video and I know that this is going to be an incredible way to experience the game - I think we have a similar desire to watch every single cutscene in a game hahahahaha. Yes if you didn’t know the mist in the air is called spores and you can see it. Here’s another thing if you were also wondering when you have full heath you can not pick up anymore like candy bars or food that helps to make make you health full. Also I have a tip, don’t use your heath-kits for no reason it helps to use them when needed. Like for example: if you heath it’s red then you can use it but if your heath is white then you don’t need it
It was really cool to watch someone playing through this for the first time. One thing that may improve your experience is switching to "performance mode" in the settings. It allows the game to run at 60fps which is much smoother! Just a little tip. Have fun with this amazing game!

This is one of the best and one of my most favorite games of all time. I love action adventures with a good story line. And there are many moments when you really sympathize with the characters. The scene with Sarah hurts every time.

I'm enjoying this playthrough because, not only are you going in totally blind, but you are genuinely interested in the world and all the little details. This game starts literally within a few miles of where I live, between Austin TX and San Marcos TX. There is an airport nearby but the towns don't quite look like this and the character accents are a bit more rural East Texas or even Southern than Texan. Still, nice to know we're at Ground Zero for the apocalypse.
Just clicked to see possibly a fun play-through of the game, but I didn't know how excited I would be to see your experience playing this game when the video was over. Love that you try to reply to all of your comments, and I subbed immediately because of your fun attitude. Can't wait to see how far you go on this journey and put boxes of tissue on standby.

I felt so bad when she said that she thought this was a chill cosy game. Talk about having to switch your mindset 180 at the spot. Also, I've seen that intro so many times and I still cry watching it. It must be the best intro sequence in gaming history. Happy I found this channel, really enjoy the chaotic playstyle and now I'm moving on to the next Last of Us video. That's one plus with being late to a playthrough, you can just binge it.

I LOVE watching people play this for the first time. That intro makes everyone cry their eyes out. You probably already know this by now, but when you're being stealthy and you hear this light rumble sound, that means you're exposed and in their line of sight. When you hear that, take cover before they spot you. 👍🏻

About the prison experiment- it was later discovered to be "defective", as several of the guards were bribed by the researchers to be more aggressive, thus muddying the legitimacy of the results.

The Sarah death scene is one of the best scenes in a movie or game. At that point you’ve been with the characters for what, maybe 20 minutes. But it hits so hard. So well acted - the noises Sarah makes and Troy Baker’s (Joel) sincere pleading and suffering. Especially in a scene that takes just a few minutes.
Everytime i wanna find a new youtuber/streamer to watch, the last of us is the first thing i watch to see if i like them. The story and all and how the person react to what happens and how they interpret it shows me exactly how they are!

It’s wonderful because I used to have some vision and played all the time. It’s a lot harder these days. I hope naughty dog keeps doing what they’re doing and other game developers will follow suit.

You're doing great so far! You've a missed a few things, but everybody does. And I appreciate that you're paying attention to the world building things like notes and graffiti.
I guess I'll try to offer some advice, but since this episode was uploaded a week ago, you must be halfway done the game by now. Oh well.
Regarding stealth, the key is to take your time. Stay behind cover and watch your enemies. You can also make use of Listen Mode to watch them even if a wall is in the way. You can then learn where they go and plan how you're going to get behind them. A few fans might complain that it's boring, but you'll find that most people will appreciate good stealth. The other thing is to look around a lot using your Listen Mode. That way you won't be taken by surprise by someone beside you or behind you that you didn't know was there. Lastly, keep in mind that if you blow your cover you can re-establish stealth. Run a short distance and hide and the enemies will know you're around somewhere but they won't know where.

so glad I found your channel! Im a recent new gamer too, though I dont feel good enough to play this game yet you have given me the courage. I love how you take your time to fully immerse yourself in the game and characters. such a breath of fresh air amongst other streamers.
When you said that that first part was an absolute nightmare, that is EXACTLY what it was, in more ways than one. Joel was having a nightmare about the day the apocalypse began and when he lost Sarah. The apocalypse did start 20 years earlier, and we were in present day, watching Joel's nightmare about that point in time with him.
I just started watching your playthrough of this series, and I am enjoying it very much so far. I have played both games multiple times through and I currently do personal speedruns of Part 1 (the remake version). I noticed that you are part way through TLOU Part II at this point, I can imagine that you didn't expect a rollercoaster of a ride like this one, and you still have more to go. I am glad to see you enjoying this series as much as I have. Keep up the good work.
BTW, thank you for your service in the military. I come from a military family as well (2 great uncles fought in WWII, my father was in the Air force, and I was in the Navy NJROTC program in high school. I am very hard of hearing, so I wasn't able to enlist in active duty unfortunately, but really enjoyed the time in ROTC. I wish you every success with this channel.

The whole series' message is playing with the dark side of love. Every character in every episode uses love to make brutal/and/or tough decisions. And though the Apcolypse heightens all of this and allows for worst case scenarios, it is applicable in our society too in much smaller ways. A subversive look of love and the corrosive effects it can have on the world. Both in the micro and micro sense. We never usually think of love that way. Usually it is love trumps all.

Yes if you didn’t know the mist in the air is called spores and you can see it. Here’s another thing if you were also wondering when you have full heath you can not pick up anymore like candy bars or food that helps to make make you health full. Also I have a tip, don’t use your heath-kits for no reason it helps to use them when needed. Like for example: if you heath it’s red then you can use it but if your heath is white then you don’t need it
It was really cool to watch someone playing through this for the first time. One thing that may improve your experience is switching to "performance mode" in the settings. It allows the game to run at 60fps which is much smoother! Just a little tip. Have fun with this amazing game!

This game starts literally within a few miles of where I live, between Austin TX and San Marcos TX. There is an airport nearby but the towns don't quite look like this and the character accents are a bit more rural East Texas or even Southern than Texan. Still, nice to know we're at Ground Zero for the apocalypse.
