- If you have older headlights or aftermarket units you might be getting some moisture inside the headlight housing. The reason is there is typically a leak between the lens and the housing itself and allows moisture in. In this video we show how to prevent those leaks.

Best video thus far
Thank you!
I use Second Skin butyl rope for this, or whenever I crack open a oem housing to do a retrofit. Seems to work great so far without any issues as well.
That's pretty cool. We don't sell SecondSkin, I didn't know they made a product like that. Does it ever dry?
@@AnthonyJ350 No, it pretty much stays like any quality butyl deadener (quality as in it doesnt use asphalt filler) does, doesnt really get any crispiness to it or anything that I have noticed yet at least. I know you can actually buy similar butyl products at some home improvement centers as well that gets used for the installation of steel roofing on a homes and you can get it in fairly thick rolls but I never used it yet and I have been curious. Only thing is Im not aware if its pure butyl based or if it has filler but its made in the USA and no Im not talking about peel & seal or any other variation that that asphalt based crap. lol
I had to find my bookmark for who makes it, its called Tacky Tape, and they have a few different types and a lot of different sizes. Most of it will resist UV and not change the characteristic of the tape, its good to -40°F below, and can even be applied in -5°F (sorry its F and not C Im in the usa and we dont get with the times).. LOL
Can you use the 3m strip caulk on tail light and fog light housings as well?
Should be able to
I have this problem with my brand new spec d DRL headlights. it is like a haze/fog, no water, when just driving it around my garage for 15-20 min. disappears after 1-2h. gonna remove the headlights tomorrow and put silicone around it and try again. wasn't rainy outside at all. 5+ Celsius
Let us know if this works.
@@AnthonyJ350 I believe i made a big mistake, that can be fixed. I sealed them real good. Like everywhere. Even the screws. I put them back on only to see that it looked like it got worse. Didnt even need to warm the car up before they fogged up.
It made no sense for me before realizing that my stupid ass didn't vent the headlights to let the trapped moisture out first...I really hope that removing the bulbs, air dry/ use hair dryer fixed it and removes whatever is trapped inside
@@ZekeMagnum I think you'll be ok if you dry it out that way.
What type of silicone
You have any info on that grille? I want one
I got it from LMC Truck.com
Dude that intro music sounds so clean and looks good with your intro animation. But that outro is outdated lol. Great video like always! Im just happy your working on the gmt800 platform. These videos give me a lot of ideas to do with mine. Keep it up bro.
Ya you're right, I should look into changing up the end of the videos. Soon we're going to finish the headliner so I'm excited for that. In the new year the engine will get a cam, ported intake manifold, port the heads and some valvetrain upgrades. And I'm trying to find a center seat from a 2008-2013 NNBS because it bolts in.
Hey man, you're in my area right? I have two extra Energy Suspension cab mounts brand new, do you want them?
Ok I listened, we changed up the outro, check out the latest video! ruclips.net/video/GUAjVeB1TwM/видео.html
Any idea on how to find the leak?
Every scenario is different. Typically in the corners at the bottom.
I only get moisture when i start driving even while raining the condensation dosen't come i dont know wether its air vent problems
Is it when the temperature is a little cooler out? What kind of bulbs are you running? Are they tight in the housing?
@@AnthonyJ350 yes im using halogen philips h4 diamond
Just getting only on right side left one is perfectly ok i sealed it uaing silicon thought maybe sleqd would have carcked or something did a proper seal with silicon first day it was ok again from tommorow i start getting moisture or conndesatuon just a vapour eve if it rqins heavily there no moisture inside but as soon as i ride for qbout 15 min headlight will be full of vapour is it with the clogged air vent beqcuse leaving my car after a while it disappear on its own.
@@LAZER-PALDZOR I would try sealing it again.
@@AnthonyJ350 do you i did twice so you still think its a broken seal beacuse water droplets dosent form inside just a vapour.
We so think alike lol I'm that guy wtf is wrong with your head light let me fix it for you or suggest a million different ways
O.C.D. is a blessing and a curse
You never tell how to get the moisture out of the lens before you seal.
Take the housing out, remove the bulbs and just let it dry inside the house somewhere
