I love these type videos because like you said, reading is so subjective give and it helps all of us find out reasons we may like or dislike books. Sometimes I’ve found favorites among other peoples worst lists, etc. However in this case many of the things you said I feel similarly lol
I read serpent first and daughter of no worlds series next. I honestly think I liked them the same if not, children a little more. Your complaints are absolutely valid! But I really loved the war and politics in daughter. Serpent politics were good too and I loved the trials, but it felt similar vibes to other fantasy books.
that's 100% valid! I think daughter for me read more like a fantasy book but not as well done as a lot I had read. but at this point I read more fantasy than romantasy so that prob helped serpent. since I hadn't read much yet
The way you explained when the moon hatched and perfectly described what I was feeling throughout the whole book makes me really confident in picking up books you recommend from now on. Slay😂
What why chose do you recommend? I don't mind smut but the few chy chose I've read didn't really work yet. I personally really got get the ACOTAR hype, or the throne of glass series where every book feels like a rewriting of the previous one. Whoops! 😈
5:01 I love losing myself in imaginary worlds, however Daughter of Smoke & Bone made me fall in love with Prague. *I can't come up with a book I hated that everyone love buuut I was on a verge of dnf-ing the Cruel Prince at one point and I really didn't understand why everyone liked it, but then I finished it and got to the Wicked King and Queen of Nothing and I end up loving the series.
Totally with you on daughter of no worlds, nyaxia supremacy>>> Also, please continue to lie to yourself with the 'I don't like raunchy stories'... it's all fine, we will keep your secret hahahah Would love to see a fantasy version of this!!
i completely agree with you about the war of lost hearts series.. i read Serpent first and was OBSESSED but the war of lost hearts series took me sooooo long to get through and honestly, i don't really remember much of it.
i don't like raunchy either!! for me, if it's too raunchy i just don't feel a connection between the characters at all. it feels all lust and nothing else (which can work for novellas, but for a full length novel or a series it's not for meee). i need *depth* to my spice lol.
WTMH definitely demanded my attention and it was a commitment because of how much work was involved to go along with your point, but I absolutely ended up loving it!!!
The book I’m going to mention isn’t fantasy romance, but it’s Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I absolutely hated that book, and it baffles me that it got a tv show 🤦♀️
Yeah daughter on no worlds was a slog for me too. Not the best series I was also told this was better. Serpent wings I read first but they are completely different I don’t think it matters which one you read first
The Blood Grace series personally didn't work for me. I was actually liking the first book just fine, but then we get more information and I'm like, "ok, so this is gonna be the plot twist". It was making me frustrated on it's own, so I looked up if I was right/when it was revealed. 1: I was right. 2: It's not revealed until about book 6. Ended up skin reading a couple of the other books through KU out of curiosity and found it was just so boring. The romance was nice, but it just felt extremely padded with useless filler. It shouldn't have taken so long for certain things to happen and I ended up just skipping a LOT in books 2 and 3 and found I hadn't really missed anything by doing so.
When the moon hatched was such a let down. I expected it to be something like The priory of the orange tree, as it had the glossary and characters list which reminded me of that book, but it was SO bad, nothing like the Orange tree at all, I somewhat enjoyed the world but the plot was clunky and repetitive.
I loved this video! The one that didn't work for me was A Fate Inked In Blood. The only thing saving it from a flat 1-star was that I really enjoyed their meet-cute. I found Freya to be insufferably stubborn, I guessed both twists almost immediately, and it bothered me how like every woman around her she either hated or they betrayed her. :/
Divine Rivas was amazing! The writing prose were beautifully written and the characters chemistry was very cute to watch. Definitely a favourite book of mine haha. However I didn't like the gods involvement, I'd prefer the book be set and marketed as WWII romance. Daughter of no worlds was boring. The witch collector had no plot, just travelling through snow and smut lel.
Hahaahahaha real talk, I was not a fan of Fourth Wing. And it's mainly because I think it's not well written. I felt like I wasted my time with it. But like, as someone who loves From Blood and Ash, big mood on that third book negl.
No I definitely felt the same way about The Coven. I don’t think I made it through 50 pages. It made me feel uncomfortable and was a quick DNF lol.. also same with Gild. I didn’t read past the first book 🙅🏾♀️
For my next read I really wanted to pick up ‘A Shadow in the Ember’ so maybe this is a sign not too 😩. I really don’t know because I like ‘from blood and Ash’.. oh gosh help 😅😈😈
When the Moon Hatched ... dropped it after 50 pages. The writing style was exactly why. Not for me. Too many words to say nothing, in my opinion and yes very difficulty to understand what she was trying to say half the time. If I can't get into a story in the first 50 pages then it loses me and this was definitely one of those cases.
I do think it's interesting you compared Throne of Glass to Daughter of No Worlds as I hated Throne of Glass and loved Daughter of No Worlds. To me, personally, Daughter of No Worlds reminded me more of the Hunger Games than The Serpent and the Wings of Night. I enjoyed the politics, characters, and romance. I will say, one of my issues with Throne of Glass have to do with a disconnect from what we're told characters are like and what we see characters are like through their actions. Overall I felt like I was being beat over the head by the author to love her characters, and I just couldn't stand it.
My comparision was that throne of glass vs Acotar. So tog is more plot driven. Acotar is more romance driven. And same can be said about daughter being more plot sept my being more romance
😈 Two that didn’t work for me was the throne of glass series. I read all but the last two and didn’t like them a till. 2-3 stars. Too much spice for me. I also didn’t like City of Bones either. I read that when I was 18 though and it’s more for 12-14 year olds. It was just really bad in my opinion. I know so many people love these.
Lady of Darkness for me. My first one-star book in a really long time. It's no good telling me a character is a badass assassin who the whole world is scared of, when what you actually show me on the page is a whiny obnoxious 'mean girl' teenager who crumples into a scared moron with zero agency the minute anyone threatens her and her friends... I just wanted to slap her the whole time. Can't believe I finished it, honestly.
I know you DNFed Trial of the Sun Queen but the rest of the series gets better! I really think if you gave it another shot you would like the other books. So much world building and more political intrigue as you move forward.
Savage Lands BLOWS😭the one time I fell for the hype and I was bamboozled😠one of the worst books I've ever read, and I wish I could go back and scream at myself not to buy a hardcover copy💀
Not a fanro, byt my newest unpopular opinion is The Women by Kristin Hannah, which was a shock to me. Just finished it I was so disappointed. But a fanro unpopular opinion is Phantasma. First half, so good. Second half, not for me.
Anything and everything written by Sarah J Maas is just the worst. I'll never get how anyone can think those are good books. 😂. The characters are un likable , the world building was ridiculously boring. Everyone kept saying keep reading it gets great. Nope. Didn't get great. 😂. Can't agree more with all of your choices too !
I liked throne of glass when it first came out, mostly bc I read it in one sitting and didn’t think about it critically. I read the second book and didn’t like it but decided to give her another chance. Dnf’d the third book.
I keep hearing so much about found family in ACOTAR series, great banter and chemistry..and I don't see it, I can't even tell them apart, they all are sassy and hissy
I love these type videos because like you said, reading is so subjective give and it helps all of us find out reasons we may like or dislike books. Sometimes I’ve found favorites among other peoples worst lists, etc.
However in this case many of the things you said I feel similarly lol
"I do not like raunchy stories." Just lying on main.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA DONT CALL ME OUT LIKE THIS HAHAHAHAHAHA
Ooh. If you haven't done this with non-romance fantasy, please do!
I actually haven't but really should!
@@CoverswithCassidy yes that would be so fun!

My two favourites and the bonds that tie series by j Bree, and bonded by thorns by Elizabeth Helen. There is smut in both of these but also plot
I love your sweater💙
its the same as the green one you liked just a different pattern

i completely agree with you about the war of lost hearts series.. i read Serpent first and was OBSESSED but the war of lost hearts series took me sooooo long to get through and honestly, i don't really remember much of it.
Yeah I'd say most of it left me too

WTMH definitely demanded my attention and it was a commitment because of how much work was involved to go along with your point, but I absolutely ended up loving it!!!
I'm really glad it worked out for you!
When the Moon Hatched is on my TBR, I would like to read it to see if I like it. The others on the list were not on my list.
I hope you love it!
Five Broken Blades didn't work for me, but everyone i see talking about it enjoyed it.
The book I’m going to mention isn’t fantasy romance, but it’s Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I absolutely hated that book, and it baffles me that it got a tv show 🤦♀️
Oooh I have read that one and admit I also didn't like it
Loved this video! I’m so glad that I am not alone in not liking the Witch Collector. 😈
It's always nice to know we aren't alone. Sometimes it feels like our feelings are crazy like did i read the same book when ppl love it
Yeah daughter on no worlds was a slog for me too. Not the best series I was also told this was better. Serpent wings I read first but they are completely different I don’t think it matters which one you read first
I just find ppl like the one they read first better so was doing market research

There is defs a lot of filler in those
There are a few on that list that are on my TBR, but I'm glad to know I should lower my expectations, built up by hype, before reading them.
I hope you still enjoy them!
When the moon hatched was such a let down. I completely understand this one, even tho I liked the book at the time, its really left me because of pretty much what you said
Divine Rivas was amazing! The writing prose were beautifully written and the characters chemistry was very cute to watch. Definitely a favourite book of mine haha. However I didn't like the gods involvement, I'd prefer the book be set and marketed as WWII romance.

I say try it. It's well loved
So many of my friends love Trials of a Sun Queen but I just don't get it.
Me either
Divine Rivals and WTMH didn’t really do it for me either, I just didn’t get the love for them 😬
Yupppppp
Starting off with Divine Rivals is bold, I love that! I haven’t heard any criticism of it, only the sequel. Keep speaking your truth queen
hahahah it was a big one to start with

I agree so much to her being a badass assassin in theory only like what she was not one at all
Not the Daughter of No Worlds slander 😬
Hmmm, ACOTAR did not work for me at all, but ok, people like it so much😅I just don`t get it
Very very valid, I think it holds a lot of nostalgia for lots of ppl
I felt exactly the same way about the Never King....
