As a trademan doing a cost of benefit analysis You can probably buy a decent zero-turn mower with a tough cut blade leave the deck on 5 in and cut all of that briar with no problem at a much faster rate go over it a second time with the deck down to about 3 in and mulch it up finer. Even the trees it can take down it would be more efficient to break out the chainsaw and just put the grapple bucket back on your mini track steer
I can see your point there. And a brush hog on a tractor can do even more than that zero turn (much thicker blades and more power) ... but I still kinda like having just the mini skid steer on jobs, not another piece of equipment, and it's cool to be able to start high on the brush and work down, not just push everything over from the base and then try to mulch up full pieces. But like I said, I can see your point!
one thing you didn't tell in the video that is important for the comparison. whether the mini skid steer loader is a high flow machine. i assume not. but important information for your video. because with a high flow machine you will have a better result and can do more because the high flow will keep the rotor at a high speed for longer. but good video again. and a nice addition this attachment
yeah a full size skid will move more fluid ... this one has just the two lines and a third line that's a case drain. Gets the job done on a small scale
The tree crew that cleared the utility easement here, had a larger one on a 600 or 700 series Bobcat. It munched several inches beneath the surface leaving a really nice open pathway for a couple of years but the roots brought forth shoots and now it's way bushier than it ever was and all the sassafras and bramble is as thick as buckthorn.
Yeah that's my main problem with mulching and bush hogging -- looks good when you're done but immediately starts to come back, especially with locust and buckthorn. Gotta keep after it ... not a quick fix. You said it man
Oh yeah, you're prepped for the zombie apocalypse! Mini skid attachments are addictive, I have the Avant catalog and they make dozens of super cool unique attachments. I could definitely see that thing coming in super handy for getting through poky's (not the delicious Japanese snacks)
Thinking of picking up both a mulcher and a bush cutter but It seems they can accomplish similar tasks. What are your thoughts on how they compare? Would you recommend to some one to get both or do you think one attachment can overlap in tasks with the other?
I've got both (brush cutter is on the tractor) and the deal with the mulcher is that it's better on woody stuff and more precise. If you put the brush cutter on a skid steer it would beat this smaller mulcher, I think ... kinda depends on what you need to clear
You've gotta check the specs on your machine. Flow rate should be over 10gpm (mine is 13) and you need the three hydro ports, one is the case pressure release.
This would be a perfect tool to clear walking paths for hunters. You could advertise in hunting communities during the mid/late summer to clear walking paths. Just a thought.
New I think they're around $8k ... dunno if there are shipping charges. I think there are a few brands out there but this company is pretty close to me out east (just over the boarder)
i have the "quick attach" brush buster on my mini skid. it does good knocking down the brush, but it does leave some large sticks. I want to get a LIPA 50 flail mower for my mini x . reach over fences, reach over water to get those briars and kudzu. kubota u 17.
Don't know if you've tried it or not but when you load your machine into the trailer tilt the trailer to match the ramps and by doing so you avoid slamming down in the trailer
If it slows down, then you need more hydraulic pressure? So your mini skid steer hydraulic output is too small for a mulcher, unless you are doing smaller brush removal jobs?
Have you run this through buckthorn yet? I have a SM100 as well and almost ordered one of these Baumalights. Similiar to what you were working around is what I was hoping but stalks up to 4 inches or so.
I ran it through a few patches of buckthorn (we have tons of it here) as well as locust -- but only very small diameter shoots. Like an inch or smaller ... It was obliterated which made me kinda happy haha ... thicker stuff would be slow, I'm thinking
@ we get lots of clients who don’t wnat to use herbicides but want the buckthorn removed every few years. This would be pretty awesome for that it looks like.
@ so far so good, we have a branch manager and it’s excellent for feeding the chipper. The wacker is almost as fast as our Avant in a straight line and can lift pretty decent weight. Was 10 grand cheaper than other brands so I gave it a chance. Pretty happy so far.
I've owned the mulcher a little under a week and 2 jobs have come my way using it -- so we'll see how it goes, but I'm optimistic that it'll be a good addition to my repertoire
I've been able to figure out that very thing ... it would depend on a few factors like nature of the ground and potential for debris, as well as what other work will be done on site.
Definitely a sweet attachment! Congrats
Thanks buddy
Cool setup , will be a handy addition . Working smarter not harder , carry on .
You said it man
I chuckled a bit when you ran over the pumpkins
hahaha good! I wish I could have found a few more to munch up ;)
That is nice!
I would love to see another video centered around it!
That's my plan .. once I get a few clearing jobs I'll build some more content around it for sure
Yes we do.
CANADA HERE 💪
Excellent! Woohoo!
I would try it with the frame on the front down when you clear round tree's as it might present the brash at a better angle to the rota .
Yeah I've gotta play with that angle ... watching the video I thought my approach angle could be better. thanks for that!
Definitely has its place 🤙
Yup
Not sure it could handle the mesquite out here but sure would like to try. That's going to make for less blood lose in the brambles
They definitely use them on mesquite. You would need a bigger machine with a high flow pump, but it would work.
@atomicsmith unfortunately I don't have one of those machines and can't afford to buy one

I'm sure it will be one of the most used attachments in your line of work.
That's what I'm thinkin!
New content for the channel lets gooo Spencer!
I was thinking the same thing! :) Good to test it out
Thanks for sharing

Very cool
Another tool in the belt.
absolutely ... nice to have options
Tilt your dump trailer up a little to ease the loading angle.
oh right! I always forget to do that ... thanks for the tip! that will absolutely help, especially on bad angles
Pretty cool dude . I gotta say im a little under whelmed by it though i was hoping it would be a tad stronger.
It's limited by the flow rate on the machine ... so yeah, the full size skids crank the RPMs on the mulcher much more aggressively
Very impressive
Big thanks!
@ Are they available in Australia?
@@andreabond3501 I've had equipments shipped half-way around the world, but you know how it is: added cost
Awesome video....I have the chance to buy one of these little machines.
You're gonna love it buddy ... gets a ton of work done just go slow when first getting a feel for it
Oh yeah, you're prepped for the zombie apocalypse! Mini skid attachments are addictive, I have the Avant catalog and they make dozens of super cool unique attachments. I could definitely see that thing coming in super handy for getting through poky's (not the delicious Japanese snacks)
I'll have to make sure I NEVER get my hands on a catalog like that :) could make me broke real quick
Another tool to add to the belt! What face mask/helmet is that?
you talking about this funky helmet? amzn.to/4fTDQdq someone sent it to me to test out ... not the best and not the worst I've ever used.
Cool.
I certainly hope the ground crew did not put that boo boo above your eye. 😂
I stepped on a long, curved, metal bar ... and WAM! was over a year ago. Things happen :)
Pumpkin purée lol!
Recipe available on Patreon haha
wow that thing is so cool
dangerous, but cool...
no one has died yet ... but it's only been here a week haha

dope.
Will this attachment work on my 2024 EGN EG380T TRACK DINGO
You've gotta check the specs on your machine. Flow rate should be over 10gpm (mine is 13) and you need the three hydro ports, one is the case pressure release.
Can you send pics of what you are talking about? I am new to this but I am so glad you responded!
Thank You,
Chris
@@lordhelpmeteachdevan7034 Pics of what?
Love it. Want one. But is it really better than a brush cutter? Seems like you could do the same thing and save the $.
I have a brush cutter too and they're different in that the brush cutter chokes on bigger shrubs and trees
This would be a perfect tool to clear walking paths for hunters.
You could advertise in hunting communities during the mid/late summer to clear walking paths. Just a thought.
funny you'd say that -- I cleared a few paths to our tree stands yesterday
@metaspencer Trophy or meat?
For the freezer
@metaspencer I kinda figured that you, being an efficient and practical man, would be efficient and practical. The spots come off when you skin em! 😂😋
Wacker neuson 👍👍👍
Bring that machine over here, I have about a acre that needs clearing
I'm on my way buddy! :)
That thing is awesome. Can you give a ballpark of how much they cost?
New I think they're around $8k ... dunno if there are shipping charges. I think there are a few brands out there but this company is pretty close to me out east (just over the boarder)

@@firstname6208 I run a brush hog on my tractor and it munches most stuff -- but like you said, isn't as good on trees/sticks
Looks like a hungry hungry hippo game, or a big old snail lol.
haha absolutely. munch munch
Don't know if you've tried it or not but when you load your machine into the trailer tilt the trailer to match the ramps and by doing so you avoid slamming down in the trailer
Thanks for the tip man ... I've totally gotta start doing that, especially on sloped terrain. thanks
Again I don't know what I would do with it but I want one anyways:)
you would munch things up in the morning, noon, and night ... I'm tellin' ya!
What the GPM at the AUX connections for your machine?
I believe my Wacker flows at 12.9 gal/minute ... with a bit more this thing would run even better
If it slows down, then you need more hydraulic pressure? So your mini skid steer hydraulic output is too small for a mulcher, unless you are doing smaller brush removal jobs?
I've seen the biggest skid steers stall out when they try to mulch larger stuff, but yeah: more hydraulic power and more rotational force.
Nice How much one of those cost ?
got this one second hand but I think they're about 8k ... baumalite makes 'em in Canada
Have you run this through buckthorn yet? I have a SM100 as well and almost ordered one of these Baumalights. Similiar to what you were working around is what I was hoping but stalks up to 4 inches or so.

@ we get lots of clients who don’t wnat to use herbicides but want the buckthorn removed every few years. This would be pretty awesome for that it looks like.
How you like your sm100? I run a grapple on it most days but have augers and a bucket too
@ so far so good, we have a branch manager and it’s excellent for feeding the chipper. The wacker is almost as fast as our Avant in a straight line and can lift pretty decent weight. Was 10 grand cheaper than other brands so I gave it a chance. Pretty happy so far.
How much that set up cost the mini and the mulcher
I think they're in the $8k range new ... gotta see what your local dealer can do for ya
You could easily do those piles with more HP, you only have 25, the mulcher will do more with more.
yeah you said it man -- more flow = more force on the business end
It's not a wood chipper... But you're getting closer😊😊...
haha yeah, baby steps in the right direction
North Dakota requires a background check to own this. 🤪
LOL would almost make sense! the dang thing is an accident (or murder?) waiting to happen
Fargo?
Is that yer buddy in the forestry mulcher there?
ND requires a background check to fart.
Have you found a pretty good market for this service?
I've owned the mulcher a little under a week and 2 jobs have come my way using it -- so we'll see how it goes, but I'm optimistic that it'll be a good addition to my repertoire
What would you charge someone to run that per hour at a property?
I've been able to figure out that very thing ... it would depend on a few factors like nature of the ground and potential for debris, as well as what other work will be done on site.
What is the flow rate required.
I'm not too sure but my machine rolls at 12.9 gal/min and it seems to work pretty well ... higher flow would be even better for sure
❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It seems like it needs more hp running it
it's really limited by the flow rate on the machine ... a full size skid much really crank the mulcher rpms
Couple goat and couple weeks you will have new grass
That would be great
I gotta quit showing you equipment, next thing we know you're going to buy an excavator and a bucket truck!
That's what I'm talkin' about! Excavator is absolutely on my list ... but the list is kinda long :)
😂
Get sharp blades. They work better, especially with low rpms ur working with.
good point. absolutely
