Gosh…… rolling back the years with Triumphs. If they had been in a position to sort out the fragile head of the Sprint’s engine, then things might have been so different. Maybe my age has much to do with it but Triumph made such lovely cars in the late 60s and early 70s.
Yes, I used to own a 1980 Triumph Dolomite 1500 SE with Sprint front end and alloy wheels, so I do very much like them. I drove an 1850 on the channel last year, which was most enjoyable. Thank you ever so much indeed for watching!
That Rover P4 is stunning. After sitting in one last year I was most impressed. Would love to drive one at some point. P5's are out of my budget these days but who knows, perhaps a tatty P4 may still be attainable. I've never seen that TR7 with the custom estate body before. I still think that Triumph should have built the car with a wrap around rear glass hatch similar to that of the Porsche 924 as it would have been both practical.and more attractive than the 2dr fixed head that made production. I was actually impressed with the one I drove at the GBCJ. I think my expectation had been low owing to my dad's experience of ownership in the late 70's. It's nice to see an R3 200 as most remaining cars seem to be the later 25. I recall how modern the R3 looked at launch. I had a neighbour in the 90's who owned a 480 ES identical to the one seen here. I don't normally like black cars but the black and red just looks so right on the 480 ES. It only seems like yesterday that the Volvo T5 was the mainstay of the police traffic department. I've not driven one myself but I did get to try one of their omega estates on the skid pan.
I enjoyed the TR7 Estate prototype, sir. They could have got something like the Volvo 1800ES going, but it never happened. The P4s and P6s are very good value for money. The Great British Car Journey do have a P4 on the fleet, actually. The 480s are not very well made in terms of the interior, but they are lovely to look at and nice to drive. The R3 200s are going to turn up at a lot more shows in the future, I think. We like T5 Volvos, sir...
When I saw the Saab 9000 I knew this would be the car for you! A soft spot for Saab as I have ridden in two different 9 3 convertibles. I love the yellow one!
That 1.4 Puma is on those early style wheels. I don't think the smaller engine was available at launch but I could be wrong. I'm hoping to get a go in a 1.7 Puma at some point. Just a normal 1.7 though rather than the racing. Hard to believe that Vel Satis is almost two decades old (as it happens the similarly styled Mégane 2 is 20yrs old this year). I don't think I've ever seen a Firebird in white before. I actually like the idea of having something like that or the Fiero (no idea why).
Yes, the 1.4 was not available at the launch. The 1.7 will be exciting in its own right, sir, the one I drove was great. The Vel Satis was sadly one I could not discuss, but it sold for No Budget Reviews money!
Breaking this into two parts over my lunch break. The Rover P4 finished in Silver and Blue was stunning. I think the little blue midget with the Nissan Engine is a 1.3 Engine from a K11 Micra possibly. I will catch up with the rest of this part later on.
Oh Sir Maxi Goodness. Maxi 2 and HLS 1750. A beautiful Volvo 262 C, it looks like USA spec. An exquisite SAAB 9000 Griffin, worthy enough to be chauffeur driven. A historic big Volvo F89 which blazed the trail to Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc in the 1970s. Luxury transport in 1974, they could even be ordered with an outside shower.
Now onto the second Part of this shuffle. Amazon's just look beautiful, talking of Amazons's did you manage to get a look at actor Gary Maver's Rolls Royce and Lotus?? I think Sir would suit a Volvo 480 especially if you could get a beige leather interior. I look forward to the 1983 Saab that you will be reviewing , but there was a nice selection of Saab's on display at the the show. A great shuffle Sir as always.
Sir, we filmed every car at the show (with one or two predictable exceptions), so if it was there, we will eventually get round to it. You saw the 480 review, didn't you? We did like it, but they aren't the most spacious cars. The Saab 900 video is out for channel members right now!
the bond bugs came in dark orange, red While production Bugs were almost exclusively painted orange, four white and six lime green examples were produced for promotional purposes
Yes indeed, that Saab 9000 Griffin is a beauty! Another top shuffle series, thank you, sir!
Sir, I wanted to buy that Saab 9000. Desperately! Maybe one day....

Sir, it was a lovely surprise at the end of the video to have found that 9000. The Saab stand was excellent!

Sir, we liked the Maxi goodness, as well as the Volvo 262C. The Saab 9000 Griffin was absolutely amazing, I wanted to buy it very much!

Thank you very much indeed for the confirmation! I was almost right, but I didn't know that level of detail.
2:30 with a stag engine.
Thank you very much indeed for watching and for the confirmation!

Sir! Have you been taking a break recently? We appreciate you being back.
OTD180M Escort 1100 L 1973 its now a 2.0L,,,TRJ862R 1.6 SPORTS MK 2 ESCORT WHAT FUN I HAD IN THEM YEARS AGO
Yes, there are lots of Mark I and Mark II Escorts out there which have had new engines fitted and are replicas of some of the more exciting versions.
