Pootin there are more than 4500 caves in Bulgaria, around 60 are made for tourists with lights and so on.Some of them are pretty dramatic.Sueva dupka,Devil's Throat(where the legend says Orpheus descended for Eurydica in the Underworld),Magura are some of the most spectacular. In cave "Prohodna" are located the legendary "Eyes of God"(check it out on Google),where some of the Expendables was filmed..

The stalaGmite are the ones on the Ground, you can remember it for the G-G thing or because it grows up as the G's "tail". When both stalagmites and stalactites (the ones on the ceiling) come together they're called columns.
Also, the cave explorers use a rope to know the way back to the entrance that it can be used to know the meters too.

You need to visit Slovenian caves. That 'concert hall' in this Bulgarian cave has nothing on the hall in Postonja cave. That one's huge. They regulary have concerts there, even opera. They even had Eurobasket draw in there. And you take a little train to get there! They have the only underground post office and some really weird creatures that they call human fish. Another cave, Skocian, has an underground canyon. That one's my fave. It's beyond amazing. Yet another cave has many underground lakes. But admition is expensive as they only let a few people in each year.

Well when you go in an underwater cave you bring a line with you that is spooled up and you tie it at the beginning then let it out as you go. I imagine you could do that same thing. It would have to be a pretty large spool of string though and you'd have to be careful not to let it snag on anything and break.

The red and white bracelets have an historical meaning. They are called martenisti and they are a very old tradition in Bulgaria. When Bulgaria was created by Khan Asparuh (the "king" of Bulgaria) he sent a message to his brother and he tied it with a white knot onto an eagle. The eagle got shot and the blood covered the knot. then we kept this white and red bracelets as sort of symbol of the creation of Bulgaria and yes also for spring. :)
And also when Bulgaria was under the Ottoman Empire, Bulgarians didn't have the right to build bigger churches, the church shouldn't have to be taller than an ottoman soldier on his horse, that's why they build churches in the rocks and there are a lot which were built "in the ground ".
    :)
