Personally, it's not my ocarina. I bought this with my other double ocarina long time ago. The big thumbhole in the second chamber just felt too awkward that I ended up never using it. My old boss recently told me he tried a $15 plastic ocarina from our local music store 15 years ago. It wasn't Songbird, nor Night by Noble. The likelihood that it's a ocarina of crap is 99%. This guy is a musician too. I couldn't let it pass, he needed a REAL ocarina ASAP. I ended up giving him that Max Range Double ocarina, so he can have a real experience with an ocarina, and likes a challenge. He ended up learning by ear with no tabs and is already trying to play 2 chambers at once in a week. I'm glad its no longer sitting in dust anymore.
mhm. the extended range is worth the weirdness for some - it was for me for a long time, but I enjoy other multi chambers a lot more. at least this ocarina is a solid instrument, and I’m glad you found yours a new home
There is an old saying: "Beware a man with one gun." The idea is that you will be better if you pick one thing and practice with it than you will be if you swap between a bunch of different things. Personally I have the maxrange triple bass from STL and I love it.
I'd love to learn to play with a multi-chamber ocarina one day, but I'm a beginner on a 12 hole and am well aware I don't have the skill needed to try using a multi-chamber :D Maybe one day lol
I am slowly accumulating somewhat unique multi-chamber ocarinas, that battle is definitely in the works! Probably like 2-3 months from now so I can justify spending a few hundred $ more on ocarinas
Hey Andy! Not related to this ocarina, but I was wondering if you own any ocarinas by Pure Ocarina? I would love a review on one. Would also love to know if they will start production again, I heard they stopped to eradicate a mold issue. Makes me wish I had pulled the trigger years ago
Can you recommend a good ocarina of time replica? I have a $12 plastic one that I just got today and I really like playing it. I can see this becoming a hobby in the future for me

@@kevinestrada7127 what little sound samples I have been able to find out there, they have the most sweet and pure tone, and sound more full sounded than most others. Hey man if you want to sell one, I'll buy it in a heartbeat!
@@shanedulrich I appreciate it but I'm keeping the two I have. One is an AC single and the other one is the AG double. They have a more "flute" like tone. Compared to other ocarinas, the tone has a little more air to it.
@@shanedulrich I believe Robert is taking orders again. He tends to close sales depending on volume or whatever is going on. I believe he is open again. He communicates promptly, so keep an eye on the website.

I always want to distinguish between objective flaws vs. things you can overcome with practice! I’ve heard great things about the max range triple

I have two. Probably the best ocarinas I've ever held or played, hands down.
