    I got my Night by Noble just two weeks ago, I couldn't be happier.
    After a horrible experience with an ocarina of time replica I got as a present, I now go around recommending the ocarina as the best instrument for someone's first approach to music to anyone who will listen (and some who won't).

    "Plastic Ocarinas are Indestructible" I'm just going to say that my two year old is trying to test the boundaries of that statement 😂 I gave her my old stl plastic Ocarina when I got my nbn. Somehow, someway, that girl managed to chip a section off the bottom of the mouthpiece. It doesn't affect the playing at all, but it was interesting to see.
    That said, its survived 6+ months of being with a two year old 😂 and she loves it.

    • @AndyCormierYT
      @AndyCormierYT  6 месяцев назад +5

      2 year olds are the most destructive forces of nature imaginable. It's impressive she was able to chip it 🫡

    • @ArtemisDalmasca
      @ArtemisDalmasca 6 месяцев назад

      @@AndyCormierYT It really is! I occasionally play something for her on it and it still plays perfectly. I was amazed that she chipped it, honestly. It's her favorite accessory to wear out in public though. She calls it a 'Na' for now ☺️

    I got a NBN last year when I was first getting serious about the Ocarina (I got it due yo your recommendation) and i love it. My biggest issue is that you can hear the air in the chamber (I heard it described as a hissing sound on Reddit) and it bugged me. My hubby got me a ceramic alto c from stl for Christmas ao I'm completely happy. I still carry my nbn though XD

    • @AndyCormierYT
      @AndyCormierYT  6 месяцев назад +2

      The NBN is fantastic, I just realize after playing SO many plastic ocarinas that it has more challenges that aren't beginner friendly, mostly caused by the low breath pressure. That said, if a beginner said their first ocarina was a night by noble, I'd still wholeheartedly endorse using it to learn, since it is so reliable, just a bit challenging

    • @ArtemisDalmasca
      @ArtemisDalmasca 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@AndyCormierYT It's still an amazing ocarina! I've recommended it to friends before as a starter. We got one for my oldest son to play on, because the holes are small enough for him to cover with his fingers.
      I actually got the NBN because of the low breath pressure. I was pregnant at the time, so with a baby pushing on my lungs, something that I didn't have to breathe into as hard sounded amazing xD

    Really good, thorough review. I have a ceramic ocarina already (the Aria by STL), but am in the market for a plastic alto C . . . once I have enough pennies saved up, that is! That being said, this isn't available on Amazon right now, and I'm timid about supporting Bezos at the moment . . . how would you compare this ocarina to STL's plastic 12-hole?

    • @AndyCormierYT
      @AndyCormierYT  6 месяцев назад

      I prefer this one over the STL, but I’d say I prefer it equally to the Focalink Bravura, which you can get from songbird (and at a discount using code ANDY10 🤠)

    • @AndyCormierYT
      @AndyCormierYT  6 месяцев назад +2

      I have a video doing a demo on it! It's quite difficult to get the hang of, and the exact application varies by ocarina, but you basically change the grip to create an external "ocarina chamber" with your hands that happens to be in tune with an AC ocarina

      @@AndyCormierYT Wow! I just tried that and it's easier than I thought it would be (while playing it alone)! That is such a useful technique. I had no idea my ocarina was able to do that. It's like discovering the instrument you own can actually do a lot more stuff than you initially thought! The tone is so pure too!

    Hmm, as a Korean browsing through review videos to see which brand of ocarina is the best for beginners, seeing a Korean brand was what I expected the least because ocarina is not a widely played instrument here. Thanks to you, I got to appreciate the local products a bit more.

    So wait as someone who’s interested into getting an ocarina how would I know if I get a good one that’s in tune vs not. I don’t play instruments at all so I feel like it would to hard to know if the one I got was a dud or if I’m just having a skill issue with it.
    Edit: I can’t find these things anywhere online. I’ve looked on Amazon, Google, Facebook Marketplace, and EBay and can’t even find one with the same name. I think when you said you got the last you actually got the last one this company ever produced.

    • @saplingdatree4111
      @saplingdatree4111 17 дней назад

      @Theorigamidude you may be able to control it with breath pressure, having used a 3d printed ocarina i have found that even bad ones you can go probably 10x quieter

  • @hidicproductions4849
    @hidicproductions4849 3 месяца назад

    I bought a night by noble last month and trying hard, to overcome the squicking and airy sound on the high notes. But no matter what I try to do, it's pointless. The high f is just whisteling air, escaping from the instrument. Do you have an tutorial or can make a video about that topic? How do you play the high notes on the noble, so it doesn't sound like me, a noob trying to press "music(tm)" out of the "potatoe"? 😂😅

    • @AndyCormierYT
      @AndyCormierYT  3 месяца назад

      The noble has quite low breath pressure with a lot of precision required for the highest notes. You'll need a LOT less air than you think for the high notes, F especially. I am swamped with work and grad school, but when I have time I'll make a tutorial!

    I couldn't find this particular one on Amazon (unavailable), but the Aestivate ocarina with ASIN B09DVSSZF9 appears to be very similar, and is $13 as of 4/20/24. I bought this one as well as the Night by Noble and this review is spot-on. The Noble requires far more precise and lower breath control, and the Aestivate one is easier to play, with a higher air flow and gives a great tone. Daughter is enjoying it!

    I think I not gonna buy plastic ocarina anymore, cause I got very dissapointed in my plastic ocarina, the Focalink Bravura, need bending to make the 3 highest notes, but even bigger problem is it is a saliva collector, I have to clean it in every second minutes when I am using.
