China had better develop their science for better road construction material, otherwise road like this will bankrupt the country just trying to maintain it, the weather here is extreme, plus road carved out of cliff is impossible to manage.
This road is mostly located in the earthquake-prone area at the junction of plates, with permafrost on the plateau and unstable geological structure. Earthquakes, landslides, collapses, and mudslides are common. There are many heavy-loaded vehicles, sparse population, and high maintenance costs, so the road conditions are relatively poor. Tibet already has some expressways, but the coverage and reach are not as wide as the road in the video.
