I can clearly see lots of Chinese bots and keyboard warriors being active here and passing comments in a sarcastic manner. Let me tell you few simple facts, Tibet was an independent country with its own dialect, culture & tradition. Tibetans genetical make up is much different from han Chinese making them much immune to high altitudes. In the year 1959, China invaded Tibet & over a million Tibetans were killed by Chinese Communist Party Forces. These data aren't published by Tibetans themselves but estimations done by independent researchers. 99% of monasteries, heritages sites, were destroyed during the illegal occupation of Tibeta by China which is still happening to this day. Monks and nuns were forcefully disrobed. I have been in proximity and have heard from exiled Tibetans who are now of our grandparents age, they have said, the blood shed was so horrifying that no matter how much they tried to wash away the blood stains infront potala palace, it wasn't going away during 1959 invasion. For people who are pointing finger at H.H. The Great 14th Dalai Lama. Let me tell you earnestly, this wasn't in main channel of Dalai Lama or some other official Channel but rather recorded by someone who have seeked audience with H.H Dalai lama. In which he said 'we should cultivate compassion and love towards everyone including those who have harmed us, we should practice forgiveness and practice empathy towards the officials of CCP, though our population is said to be mere 6 million, we should aspire to benefit over billion something Chinese with our Bhuddist philosophical view and teachings of the lord Buddha, we surely can benefit the over billion something Chinese ones our situation gets resolved with CCP', we should aspire to do so. In that video there's just 8-13 people surrounding H.H.

GUYS If youre going on an adventure bike in the middle of nowhere, May I suggest you put one bottle of run flat liquid inside so that even the biggest punctures will seal the hole instantly and you will never be stranded! In the early 80s western tourists complain about Singapore being too clinically clean whilst commented Bangkok was chaotic and dilapidated with age. Excessive conservation of old things hinders re-development and an economic waste of resources which are essentials for progress in step with time. Except for new area, Europe cities excessively keeps its old looks for centuries with no freshness. China has achieved a balance in its redevelopment of cities and has generally done a very good job.

You are right, the alleys in the old city before the renovation were very narrow and ambulances and transportations couldn’t get in. How wonderful is that!? I am again impressed by the powerful brainwashing capabilities of your media and gov.

The way we see them is that they are one of us, part of our families who just like us, desire for development and improved lives, for all the modern amenities. The way westerners see them is like they are animals on the safaris, so they should be left untouched, the more original the more wild, the better. The idea of creating preserves for aboriginal Indians and leaving them there with poor infrastructure, unemployment and drugs reflects that mentality. On the contrary, you would never see China taking the same approach to ethnic minorities in underdeveloped regions, creating some sort of preserves, keeping them authentic like time capsuled museums. Those places would change and develop along with the entire country.

The government is trying to help the local economy and benefit the local people by building roads and facilities to attract tourists. You can't imagine how poor these areas were. And the people there would love to live a better life. If remote and rarely visited places is your thing, China, with 1.5b people, is probably not the best place to go to.

So the government rebuilt. The second old city you go to is indeed a preserved historical and cultural ruin. Residents moved into apartments in new city. and the government gave every farmer family 50,000 yuan to rebuild their houses in village
