I'm sitting here in commando mode one hand holds a coffee, the other holding me up, hair going every where and one eye open from 4 days of coding for my new game...and I'm watching a tutorial on terrain creation as my artist went on holidays and I have a crazy self imposed dead line...that matters only...to me.... nIce work Klaus!
Is there a simple, open Gaea, generate a random landscape, export individual textures tutorial? It seems like every Gaea tutorial I click on is 20+ minutes long.
Can you manually sculpt some details instead of everything being procedural? Let's say, for example, you want a mountain with the shape of a heart surrounded by rivers in a very specific shape, yet you want it to have erosion and all the stuff that the proceduralism can add on top of your basic shape?
Yes, there's a lot of manual work involved in every step. For what you suggested..this is but one of the ways to go. You would take a blank landscape in say unreal..roughly sculpt the mountains(heart shape), valleys etc you want..export the heightmap. Bring it into Gaea and do the procedural stuff
Having a problem with the lakes and rivers. You didn't alter any other settings? When I follow the lake portion nothing shows on the terrain. Same with rivers
im having an issue where im not getting NEARLY the same levels with water that you are. ive carefully made sure im using all the same seeds you are but for some reason im either only getting very little water, or most of my terrain is lake (version 1.3.2 and my water floor percentages have to be 9-10, 9 being next to no water, and 10 being WAY too much, despite yours being at 8)
Finally someone who actually explains what shit does instead of just saying “first click this, then this, then that, and now you’re done”.

Seems you need more than one cup of coffee. Good luck!
I'm afraid I'm not dressed in the proper attire for such an exquisitely elegant tutorial... 😎🍸🎶

Shapes are random with seeds

Are the nodes showing error? (Do they look Red?)
What happens when you refresh or bring a new lake node?
