- The Rockaway Breakwall - NYC FERRY FISHING - Porgy * Sea Bass * Blowfish * Bergall. Felt like something different. Different can be a lot of things to me. Who, what, when, why, how, and of course today where. I drive by the Rockaway ferry by the break wall a few times every week. Today I decided to stop by and fish. I grabbed the old bait set up with some old clams and bought some sandworms. Small hooks and lead in the cooler. Drove by some hot spots watching folks pull em over the rail. On I went. I fished right straight down and kept an eye in the rips. Pulled out a little of little of everything. Porgies, sea bass, bergall and blowfish. Teaming with life. Neat to see them all out there. Don't let the fishing fool you. On the right tide and time there are big ones to be had all along the Rockaway breakwall right next to the ferry.

Cool, you were right by my house! 😂
Thats so cool love the neighborhood!
catching all those blowfish means the waters very clean.
Makes sense! Thanks for sharing Alley Cat I like that!
Great fishing day! Many times crossed thus neighborhood but never fished at Rockaway! Good to know. Thanks
Hi Riyad much welcome and thank you as always
Great video in the city~Jerry~I got wet yesterday too~~ heavy rain and stop quickly:) windy too~~
For sure! It came down good! Thanks Wei K!
Before the ferri that spot was a super hot spot for big blues, bass and fluke. Once the ferri stepped in that pier became a snag hole with mostly dogfish.
I can see that thanks for sharing Maik!
The variety of fishing you experience in the city amazes me.
It is pretty wild out there! This is probably just the tip of the iceberg as well! Thanks as always Henry!
Looks like a nice spot 🐟
Its a nice little corner thanks Jeffrey!
Hay Jerry great video as usual thanks and yep rain washes everything away
Kinda happy it did got to rinse my hands off forgot my towel and water bucket! Thanks Jeffrey!

Will do one day thanks Maxus!
Awesome cool…Love when a squall comes thru and cleans the deck…
In more then one sense!!! Thanks as always Chris!
Because of the recent sharks sights where would be an ideal spot for nice size porgy's
Should be inshore at a bunch of piers bridges etc or jetty
Nice mixed bag there Jerry. You definitely know how to make the best of the day.
Hi Len! A nice little trip see whats going on love to do time to time will have to work it again! Thanks as always!
Guy in blue was a little sketchy for my taste...glad you were left alone to do you.
He seemed a little lost but harmless, a simple howdy do made his day. Never bothered me one bit
Last week it was nothing but tiny porgys. The week before they were all 13 + on the north shore.
Thanks Hamptons butcher there been some big ones around as well!
Good to see you out there Jerry
Thanks Chuck!
I was on the bridge yesterday and got caught in the sun shower too. Had to wait it out up there lol, didn't get to run to the car
Lorenzo! Think I seen ya there driving over - next time I will honk! It did come down good for a little but enough heat to dry up! Thanks!
Those baby porgies look just like pinfish! Beautiful!
Oh wow I will have to take a double look they may be thanks Tim!
No second rod to live line that bergal....lots of bait there bigger fish might come in at sunset
For sure, actually some pretty good fishing in there day and night fish always moving!
I’ve got a blue version of the playmate. Got it when I was six or so and it’s still perfect. Hangin out in that area is a great vibe, your scientific expedition was a success!
Thats so cool! Had this for ever been about on many trips love the little thing! Thanks as always Bob!
After your Serene Lake Fishing....back to Urban fishing. ...
You got it thanks paul!
That north American fishing club sticker kills me! I had them on everything when I was a kid lol remember we talked about the trade a trip section in the magazine?? Oh the memories.... Alot of weather the last couple of days, today, and tomorrow morning from what I see..... I hope it doesn't kill the fluke bite tomorrow. I really would enjoy some action! Part of me always feels like plenty of fish will be eating everything churned up during and after storms but then there's the other part that has fished the post storm shutdown lol have you tried any new recipies lately? I have some really cool ideas for some bluefish in the freezer. Have a great one Jerry! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Jospeh thanks as always! yea I think we discussed the NAFC before! Today was nice out quite nice no storms they say tomorrow but who knows this is the weather time year. Nights are always nice out there seems to be. You may luck with the weather. Hae not cooked anything new lately think had some pickerel cakes a little ago those are great! I may have to make a rough fish day one day they are all great for the table! Thanks as always Joseph!
@@FishYourWay pickerel cakes sound great! Pickerel and pike also pickle really really well. Definitely try it if you haven't yet.
Will keep in mind thanks Joseph!
Hi Jerry, Plenty of action today. It seems like the small fish are always willing to bite. There are a lot of small fish under the pier here. If I'm just fishing for an hour, I'll go to Castaways Point Park, in Palm Bay. It's a beautiful park with two piers. There are all kinds of fish in the area. Some days you catch some nice fish and other days it's dead, but that's fishing. Good luck and have fun, Mickey
Hey Mickey thanks! Yea I would be checking out those piers by you with small small hooks see what lies below and work on up. Its a great way to spend the day and you get a working look about whats going on around you. I always keep an eye for the rips and bait see if anything pops up then run into that later. have to love it! Thanks as always Mickey!
Hi Jerry, I'm slowly learning the waters. Take care, Mickey
So true, we been doing that our whole lives!
If only you could keep the Porgy,s and Sea bass for bait for Stripers.
Bill! I guess those ya cant but the bergall all game! Way cool may have to do sometime! Always super to hear from you thanks Bill!
Love the reel ! Bring back the old school set up may have to pull mine out of retirement! Great videos
You and me both! I love my old 85! Thanks for watching commenting and subscribing Karl
GREAT SIGN, "NO FISHING ON GAS STATION" i didn't know you can fish on a gas station, maybe what the third grade owner meant was " no pissing on the gas station", a private property sign what have been better posted.
Too funny! Thanks Juan!
Good morning…..you found my spot. Ha ha. The ferry causes a real problem over there coming through so often. There’s a much better spot where I was catching monster porgies. Over 13inches and more than a pound in weight. Let me know if your interested. ANTHONY
Oh yea there are some nice ones out there that sounds great, they seem to be about the breakwall thanks anthony!
@@FishYourWay that spot is not that great because the ferry pulls in and out quite frequently……there a great spot not to far away.
@@anthonysfishingadventures6867 I can see that thanks Anthony!
Nice mix! I have that same reel. I used to have an even older Penn that didn't even have a star drag...didn't need it...small fish for me 😀. Even the little ones are fun...
Tight lines Jerry!
Hi frank! I love my 85 gonna try to get it out a bit more soon, some people prefer the one without the drag I think its the 78/79. some use leather on top if they need that did that a few times for shark for the thrill 100lbers using the thumb. But like you say even the little ones!!! Thanks frank!
You remind me of myself. I like catching all kinds of fish, big and small. By the way, are you ambidextrous? I see you fishing left-handed and right-handed in different videos.
Hi Zarchy thanks love to hear that! I can fish with both hand no problem
What model Penn were you using today?
Thats a Penn 85 sea boy thanks ecksdog!
