16:16 Even characters from smaller budget Disney movies showed grief at losing a loved one, like Kovu from The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride. As his own mother fell off a cliff to her doom because of her own pride & refusal to let go of the past, he lets out a sigh which I can only describe as one of deep sorrow & disappointment. He’d already turned on her by this point but he’d still grown up loving her, as any kid does with their mother, even if there’s issues. It was brief but said all that it needed to.
Rather than have Magnifico be trapped in the staff, I think it would’ve been better to just have him be consumed & destroyed by the magic of it & show Amaya alone, grieving her loss with a heartbroken expression or even just a single tear.

    • @yourlittlesistersproductions
      @yourlittlesistersproductions  8 месяцев назад +2

Exactly. I think that would have helped her character feel more realistic and showed the complexity of emotions around losing someone in your life, even if it's because they made bad choices.

The concept art looked so good like Star had a human form and was Asha’s love interest and both Magnifico and Amaya were evil.
    This is my personal rewrite
Asha would be Magnifico and Amaya’s actual daughter and so she grew up thinking that keeping the wishes was the right thing. I would also make her personality more similar to Elsa and Mulan rather than Rapunzel and Anna. She’s smart and serious but also stubborn.
(Little nitpick but I would also change her design to look more like her concept art. She would have her natural hair out and her color palette more orange and red. When I think purple I think Rapunzel and Isabella.)
Magnifico I would go the sympathetic route since it honestly works better for him. I would make that due to a traumatic experience he’s now a very paranoid man who truly just wants to keep everyone safe and he picks wishes that he deems best for everyone.
Amaya would also be traumatized but instead of focusing on wishes she focuses on appearance. Like she wants her family to look good to the kingdom so that they don’t question them and believe that they’re all safe.
The seven friends could be people who work around the castle and Asha then helps them throughout the story. I also like the betrayal but I like to imagine that Simon has a crush on Asha so he wants to be the greatest knight in order to hopefully impress her.
Also we should see the impact of people not having their wishes. Like we should actively see people feeling sad and depressed

At the end of the day it’s as if though Disney gave its fans a foundation to create a version of Wish they would’ve ‘wished’ to see, like ‘here’s a fun little challenge: we made a concept for you to develop, make your _own_ magic!’ Because all these amazing original songs, animatics and fanarts are coming from the SCRAPPED first ideas for the movie, not the hollow husk we got in theaters.

I cannot believe that a movie about wishes has absolutely nothing to say about them. "Be careful what you wish for." is a tagline on the poster and NOT A THING IN THE MOVIE?! Magnifico mentions once a thing about wishes being vague and that being bad, but it's not expanded upon, nor does it come back in a meaningful way. What is a bad wish? According to the movie, all wishes are valid and important. What if somebody wishes for someone else to fall in love with them? Does that violate someone else's autonomy or free will? What if someone's wish directly contradicts someone else's wish? Which one takes priority? What if someone wishes for a bunch of people to die? Any problem with that? I can't believe in this movie so packed with references, that they didn't make Magnifico's rules for wishes the same as the Genie's. No killing, love, or raising the dead. It was RIGHT THERE! A movie THEY made over 30 years ago has more to say about wishes than this movie.
What if, instead of Asha's stupid motivation with her grandfather's wish, she wanted her father to come back to life? She was sort of bummed about it in a nonspecific way. That would be something Magnifico would be very justified in not granting. That would give a reason for the whole memory erasure thing. If a person is so focused on a wish that's impossible to grant, it's better for them to forget it than have it eat away at them from the inside.
The whole Magnifico thing doesn't work. Where did this evil book come from? Did he fight and defeat evil sorcerers in his past? We don't know! It would be more compelling if it was HIS book and he USED to be evil, but sealed it away and chose to live and rule for good. That would explain the book's draw it has for him and in his breakdown of paranoia and pessimism, he turns to it again and falls into villainy. The movie as it is now gaslights him into being the villain, it's so weird! And why does the Queen know about oil on the fingers prevents evil or whatever and not the King? She and Doc both read the book too and are fine!
One more thing, how old are Magnifico and the Queen supposed to be? He founded the kingdom right? Unless there's some magical longevity nonsense we don't see, than Rosas has only been a kingdom for like 50 years max. That would mean Grandpa moved to and gave up his wish when he was in his 50's. That's a long time to be failing as a musician.

For a movie that started development in at least 2018, it's ghastly how bland this is. You make so many good points, and they would have been fantastic risks for Disney to take. This movie is a slap in the face for being the 100th anniversary movie. Maybe they'll learn and in 2037 (snow white's 100th anniversary, so it could be marketed as "100 years of feature length animation!) they'll do better.

When I watched "Wish", I was so horrified at seeing ALL of Wishes including the crushed ones returning to these people who are so selfish for demanding more. Not just GOOD Wishes returning, BAD Wishes returning as well! That act can create many villains, many selfish people, many angry mobs in the future!
Wishes are actually two faces of a coin, it can go either to the right way or to the wrong way. King Magnifico got a good point about the vague ones. Wishes are based on their DESIRES, right? They are based on their EMOTIONS and THOUGHTS, right? Humans are capable of ACTING on their WISHES, even capable of changing and twisting what they want if they suddenly remembered their DESIRES. They're not very good at saying specifically what they wants. They can go as far as AT ALL COSTS, with or without help of magic!
Oh, Asha, what have you done?

I remember reading that was the year it was announced, at least.
From what I've read, it seems like the creative team got as far as having audio recorded over the storyboards, and then Corporate came in, and butchered the script into the movie we got.
So, it seems the better Wish movie might already exist at the studio, just as a really long animatic.

With the way Amaya treats Magnifico at the end. It makes her appear as one thing, heartless.
Callous doesn't care. The emotions she had at the start are ultimately revealed as a lie, which makes her shallow and ultimately worthless, showing that she's a prop and not a true human being. Making her completely unlikeable. For the political message is more important than any emotional meaning sadly. :(

Wish is my worst movie of 2023 because Disney wasted so much potential for this movie And hired the worst writers where the movie the AI generated The songs were horrible and forgettable. The characters were bland as tofu animation while pretty did not live up to the standards of other movies worst of all the movie also had a very bad message to teach for kids and saying that it’s OK for everybody to get their wish no matter how bad or good it is which is just horrible to teach for kids as someone who has cousins who are little kids it just makes me so mad and upset The most unforgivable thing about this movie is what they did to King Magnifico and especially his villain song which was the worst part of this movie and another unforgivable thing that made me so mad is they were going to make the king and queen evil star, being a shape shifter, and a love interest for Asha and the movie, the hand drawn animated just imagine how amazing it would’ve been and us getting a Disney villain couple song But no, the directors at Disney had to waste potential and make a bland movie that is not worthy of the 100 year celebration title Once upon a Disney, which came out on Disney+ is a way better movie to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary And at least we got 2D animation and 3D Animation in it Once upon a Disney is worth Disney’s 100 year celebration title I’m planning on doing a rewrite for Disney’s wish with my sister-in-law since that movie made us so angry because of it being boring, bland, generic And wasting lots of good potential hopefully, Disney will make good movies again since I miss good movies from them and hopefully 2024 will be a wake up call from a disaster of a year Disney had in 2023 Fingers crossed That 2024 will be a better year for Disney
