Thanks. My goal is learning something every day. A major criticism of the Disney Princess is that she has a goal of establishing a traditional relationship. Out of Cinderella, Mulan and Tiana only Mulan had an intact traditional family. Cinderella was a resented stepchild in a toxic family environment. Tiana lost her father when she was young and had to work hard to the exclusion of all else--Tiana wasn't looking to start a traditional family at all even though cooking is still slandered as a traditional woman's job. Ah, Ratatouille! Mulan had a traditional family except that she was an only child. Was the grandmother the paternal or maternal line? Mulan's family was wealthy enough to have a horse and a family temple and a home that was more than a single-room shack. Aurora didn't get to do much in Sleeping Beauty--her family was broken up and Aurora was hidden until it was time for her arraigned marriage to Phillip. Snow White was an orphan--I speculated that the Queen had did away with Snow's daddy so that the Queen could the leader she always wanted to be.
What did I learn from this video? Lucky me--the more I learn, the more questions I have. I keep re-learning that Snow White's Queen and Cinderella's stepfamily are not alone in their jealousy when someone else is prettier. Note that Cinderella's stepsisters were being educated (music practice is still education), given a worthless education in arts instead of being rigorously drilled in STEM and the art of war like men! The stepsisters were spared any hardships--adversity builds character.
One thing constantly overlooked in Mulan is that the emperor's representative was probably a eunuch--not a man. It' isn't explicit in the movie, and why would it be? Might be regarded as disparaging of Chinese culture. Worldwide, eunuchs were more trusted than intact men, and Mulan showed quite well that women in Chinese culture were at the bottom of the social order. I wasn't able to tell if the matchmaker in Mulan was married or single.
Thanks. I'm still learning things. One thing I learned is that movies are mirrors--we see ourselves in the movie and not necessarily what is on the screen.

I had to stop - too exhausting to hear this barrage of rat-a-rat verbiage.

Please practise reading your scripts prior to recording - then speak with warmth and less rush, not just pushing words out!! You have a fine voice; use it with natural flow.
