I stared at the paper instruction manual for 20 minutes, gave up , came here, learned exactly what i needed to in under a minute .....
Haha. Great. Had the same problem in the beginning, so that is exacly why i made the video.
I needed 30 seconds.
Same here, the paper instruction is a waste of time 😢
😂
That's me as well! Lols, glad I'm not the only one. So grateful for Tutorials!! Lifesaver
The first 21 seconds of the video were all I needed. I had up on the written instructions.
Thank you! Lost my manual and forgot how to do this after not using mine for a while. Here is some engagement and a like in appreciation for helping me finish my craft project.
Was struggling to figure it out, and then figured it out immediately with your thumbnail. Just clicked on the video to say thanks!
Haha. Thanks for the view :)
My one is jammed in somehow. Everytime I try to loosen the cap, the whole unit unscrews from the base. Seems like a design flaw.
I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
Great!
Did you know that the plastic nosepiece/front grip is also a collet wrench? _And_ it makes your collets last **way** longer? It's actually a far better tool than the regular loose wrench used in the video. It's faster and easier, because it's always right there next to where you need it, and on top of that, it limits your leverage, so it helps keep you from cranking the nut down too tight & smashing your shiny collets, unlike the regular wrench, which is long enough to let you do that. If the collet is in OK shape, like when they're new, the collet nut doesn't need to be anywhere _near_ as tight as most people set it. So, here's what you do:
Just unscrew the sort-of hourglass-shaped nose piece (aka the Dremel "EZ TWST"), then press the shaft lock button, slide the nose piece/EZ-Twist forward, up over the collet nut (you may need to rotate the EZ-Twist to get it lined up with the collet nut), then use it to loosen or tighten the collet nut as you desire, then slide the EZ-Twist rearward and screw it back onto the front of the Dremel. If you're not sure what I'm describing, the shaft comes out of the front of the Dremel rotary tool, right through the center of the part I'm talking about. If you look closely, straight at the front of the tool, you'll see "DREMEL EZ TWST," arrows, and padlock symbols, engraved into the front of the EZ-Twist collet wrench. You should also be able to notice the shape of the hole in the center; it's flat on two sides, just like the regular wrench, to fit the collet nut.
Hope this helps someone!
Clear, concise and simple. Thank you.
Omg, thank you!!! Forgot about the lock button 🤦♀️😂🏆
Exactely what I was looking for. After uncountless of nonsens video about dremel 3000 quick part changing finally a 100% helpfull video to learn how to release and change bits. Thank you!!
Thanks :)
This was very helpful! Thank you!! I can't believe how long I struggled on this for something so simple!! LoL
That's why I made video. I also struggled with this in the beginning. Bit came flying at me :P
Thank you so so much! I couldn't make any sense of the operating instructions that came with my dremel! Your video has helped so so much!
Thank you so much! I’ve been stuck with a sander bit for like three days and gave up but came here and finally got it out 😅 now I can continue my project!
Brilliant quick help. Thanks so much for taking the time to post this. Just what I needed.
Just glad to be useful :)
This is a better vid than the longer one getting all the up votes. I couldn't make any sense of the incomprehensible manual - even how to put on attachments (and I'm a Mensa member) and the other video didn't show this. Now I need a video that shows me how to use the Dremel rotary disc attachments they sell . Thanks.
Thanks :)
Thank you! I saw my husband do it by hand and wondered what I was doing wrong. My fingers aren’t wrenches, apparently. 😎👍
This is exactly what I needed
thank you, the written instructions were just too vague. I feel much better after your explanation!
Great to hear!
Thank you, that is exactly what I needed 😊
Straight to the point, awesome video!
I noticed that after untightening it, if you still can't pull out the bit because it's stuck, push down on it from the top. The clamp that's holding it will loosen and then you can pull it out easier.
That's true. A great tip. I do that all the time as well.
You saved me from trying to pull it out with pliers 😂
THANK YOU!!!!!!! Straight to the point!
Thank you 🙏🏾…I’ve been struggling to replace the bit and now I know what’s needed
You have just made my life so much easier, thank you 🙏
I feel so dumb now. Thanks for the video, brother!
Hehe. You shouldn't. First time used the Dremel i didn't lock down the bit an it came jumping at me while the tool was running :)
FINALLLYYYYY an explanation that didn’t take a 20 minutes of explaining and STILL NOT learn HOW. Thank you so much!!!! Do you have other videos on dremels? Maybe what the attachments are for and sizes and when do I change to what and collets, what are they and what are they for? 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hi. Glad you liked it :) check out the channel page. I did two videos that cover what all the different attachments and bits are for. Have not done one specially for the collets, but the collets clamp the bit in place. If you have a bit with a smaller shank size than 1/8" (3.2mm) you have to change to a smaller collet :)
Hi, the bits I had with my DREMEL would not fit it. That was Disappointing. Is there another step I am not Doing? Is there an adapter for the DREMEL Lite?
Thank you for making this video! Answered what I needed to know.
Thanks for watching. Glad it helped :)
Mine isn’t tightening the bit down.
quick & easy & saved my forgetful self, thanks
Thanks. I finally got it off!
Just what I needed to know thank you!
Thanks. I have done this a hundred times, but forget how by the next time I use my Dremmel.
Such a simple thing but I was trying to make it too hard.. Thankyou!😂
Thank you very, very, very much!!
Peace, Joy, and Perfect-Health to you and yours.
Same foe you buddy:)
Thank you for such a clear and useful video.
thank you for this mine came in today cant wait to use it
The only video to help! Thank you!
OMG Thank you!! I'm so new to All this stuff, !!!!!!!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching :)
Thanks this helped!
New subscriber thank u for explaining every step..I don't have the wrench but I'm sure I can find one
Thank you so much!!
Thank you!!
Thank you!
Thank God I am not the only one
You got thousands of people here with you. Including me in the beginning. :)
Kiitos tää tuli tarpeeseen
Glad it helped :)
Thanks so much
Thanks! The instructions that came with my 200 were bunk AF
Very helpful
Awesome :)
Absolutely amazing video... manual sucks. You're a life saver
So if I turn my tool upside down the one I jus screwed in falls right out is it supposed to stay tight in there
I was worried I broke it! Thank you!
Thanks for the comment :)
@@rotarycrafts8760 thank you for the helpful video!
I love it. Straight to the point! 😊
Thanks for the feedback ;)
Ah i see why i couldn't figure it out. My collet nut is rusted shut
Whoops. Well. Maybe that will be a new video topic in the future then :)
Love you papa
I was tightening it with my black wrench but the bit is still loose it just comes up and I don't understand why I tightened it all the way even until it sounded like it was going to break I don't know what im doing wrong
Take off the black nut. Check if the gray collet is the right size. Some bits have smaller shanks, which will be impossible to secure without a smaller collet or the 4486 keyless chuck.
@@rotarycrafts8760 Ok thank you very much!
Perfect. Thanks for getting to it without 10 minutes of blather about what you're going to show!
The German accent certainly helps! 😃
My tool still hand turns in the dremel after I've tightened the end. Is that normal
How do I put one in?
Guess the one i just got might be missing that lock piece.
My bits dont fit? Do I have to use force ?
Should not have to use force no. Take off the black nut and look inside it and see if the gray collet is stuck inside. Also make sure that the bits you use have a 1/8" shank (3mm). If the bits seems loose and keeps falling out, you want to use a smaller collet.
Mine wont turn at all? Is there a way to get it unstuck?
When I release the lock button, I can still pull the bit out
Hmm. It can be that the shaft or shaft lock button is stripped. Then the spindle will keep turning even when you hold down the shaft lock button. You'll have to open the tool to find out if thats it. Also check if you are using the right size collet, if the shank of the bit is just a little bit smaller than the previous bit, then you need to use a smaller collet.
thank you i was 12 seconds away from loosing a finger
thankyou, - easy once you know how (no instructions in box)
Ye. I struggled finding the instruction once I got mine too. Glad it helped.
Gosh thanks I thought my dremel bit was stuck 😅...
Haha. I did the same when i first got my Dremel. Glaf you got the bit out :)
How to change the collet part
Remove collet nut completely, remove collet, put in new collet, put on collet nut. :)
..and I still can't get the thing to tighten..
Too loose or it does not go in?
@@rotarycrafts8760 I figured it out, thank you for asking though. Greatly appreciated. The little piece that actually tightens down the bit wasn't in there. I assumed it was like a drill and built in to it. Lol
Great :) yeah, the collets can be quite annoying sometimes.
If y’all didn’t know, you don’t need that wrench. That front plastic collar behind the chuck that unscrews is also a wrench made for tightening.
You’re welcome.
Thanks for the useful tip :)
Are these people for real?
Gotta start somewhere.
Wwwhhhhhhhhoooooooaaaaaaaa
Yheeeeehaåaaaaaaa
I know how to do all this....the problem now is it will not un-tighten. I cannot keeo button pressed down enough to turn opposite way. Anyone out there ever had this problem....need help thank you
Hi. Have you had your Dremel for a long time? The thing that can happen after a using a Dremel for some time is that the spindle or the lock button will get worn out. This happens because the spindle lock is accidentally pressed when the Dremel is running or is about to stop. Now the spindle lock wont catch and stop the spindle inside and you get no leverage to loosen the bit.
I have updated the description of this video, here i linked to a video that will help you understand the problem.
This is the most likely fix if the spindle inside is worn down. He does the fix on a flex shaft but the concept will be the same on all Dremels
@@rotarycrafts8760 no its new. The problem was my drill was nit staying in property snd and treating the dremal like a larger drill...which in most cases all metal, I over tighten it. Now the bit comes out but l cannot get it open to put in a new bit.
@@antoinette4568 You apparently worn the locking pin down to where it wont catch to lock it in place. You will not have any resistant returning it (provided you have to sales receipt)
Same thing happened to me. 2nd time I used it and it's impossible to untighten it already 🤦♀️
Magnus Carlsen?
Yep, that's me.
My bits don’t FIT!!!!! I’m pulling my damn hair out!!! Brand new kit! Bits don’t fit!!! WTF Dremel?!
Same and I have the 8250 model. What model do you own??
@@riddle_methis 8250
Turns out my collet was stuck in an accessory. I was using a collet in the supplied bit set that was the wrong size. Talk about frustrating.
manual didn't help at all. this video, easy
bad video, the wrench will always be hard to find when you need it. Thankfull you can just unscrew the plastic collar and use it to unfasten the bit holder. Save the wrench for very stubbon bits, use the plastic bit for everything else.
Thanks for the input. Not all dremel models or rotary tools has a plastic collar that can be used to tighten or loosen the bit. But if you have one that does, it is a good method to use. Personally, i prefer to use a wrench.
Hi Simon do u polish rocks to make them look shinny? I have buffing bits & sand paper bits...do u recommend sanding an agate or raw turquoise before buffing?
They gave me a tube of green waxing solution with the buffing bits, I'm assuming I use that as I'm buffing?🤷♀️
Thank you!!
Thank you!
You're welcome and thanks for the feedback .
