Thanks for that , the Jurassic Coast is a great place to visit . The winter months can be better for fossil collecting at low tide when the sea’s erosion has done the work for you
@@LymeRegisFossils That's good to know! Although, not what I wanted to hear. Haha. Both because I would prefer to be out there in the warmer months, and because I am a teacher and can't really take an extended vacation during the winter. But I retire in hopefully five years!
We do make some finds all the time , you just need to know the right areas to come too on the beach . I do guided walks (usually )in the warmer months we get out and sieve for them a lot .
Thanks for that , Mike did some recent splitting of a “large woodstone “ on a video he made . He used a chisel and the rock 🪨 breaks well through the middle it’s on his Instagram account @mikeharrisonfossils
3:22 Outch! I know, where I would‘ve hit... that’s a nasty area to hit your hand, when missing. I know that from experience and I feared he would as well. My stomach cramped that moment 😬
Thank you a hammer and some sturdy gloves plus safety glasses are the real equipment if your starting out fossil collecting along the Jurassic Coast- at low tide ! It’s much fun splitting the small layered limestone rocks that are sharp sounding , seeing impressions of ammonites on the outside of the rock gives the game away on the inside there might be something more . Low tide can produce quite a few bits and pieces were the sea does the work for you . The cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning ⚠️ so that’s why I tell everyone to stay away from the dangerous cliffs!
I recommend eye protection, safety glasses and sturdy gloves 🧤. You will see a lot of my RUclips videos where I am wearing safety glasses and even sun glasses . In this video I was filming a professional fossil collector
I’m going hunting today, should have a 2 parter, prepping segment in part 2... can’t wait to see more of your stuff. I can’t see myself ever making it across the pond
It's a shame that all that's left of these creatures is fossilised in the rocks, but I can't help thinking, if these were see creatures then why did they all die out ? you would think some would have survived, its a mystery.
The small Ammonites preserved iron pyrites are around 5 to 15 pounds each . There are a lot different factors like rarer species or quality that decide how much an ammonite will sell for . If it’s an ammonite in a rock it could cost a fortune if it’s taken ages of time to prepare it out of the rock
On my guided fossil walks I do daily along the Jurassic Coast, they are a beautiful fossil to find . The kids spot these Ammonites and save them from the destruction of the sea, at low tide . Some of the earth’s history being revealed everyday
I do daily guided fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast and it’s fun for everyone to pick up the pyrite ammonites. Their main value to me is educational as the kids really enjoy picking them up at low tide . The pyrite ammonites in the shops in the towns don’t sell for a lot as people find a lot of these and belemnites .
Your a true professional Mike. Great to watch. Great vid. Well done lads.
Ray Grange thanks very much for your comments
I’m so jealous! Wish I were there!
It’s been really sunny on the whole , we have been lucky .
Brandon Lennon It was 96 sunny and humid here in south Texas.
Thanks it's so nice to see Lyme
Thanks 🙏 the weather up until today has been delightful here
Nice video, lovely to see all the ammonites beeing rescued :-)
Karsten Genzel thank you very much Karsten . See you on the JURASSIC COAST when you come back to rescue some more fossils
Those are just gorgeous! The Jurassic Coast is on my bucket list! I'm in NJ, USA.

Lovely finds, Brandon. Always a pleasure to head out on a fossil field trip. Appreciate your sharing it!
Thanks for that , it’s really stormy down here at Lyme Regis this weekend ! We tried collecting at low tide but the wind sure did blow
These videos are so interesting , I can’t wait until you upload again 👍
Thanks 🙏 very much for your comments
@@LymeRegisFossils ❤❤❤ur welcome keep up the good thing
That lil one is *use the cutest! Made me smile!!! 💞😍
Thanks I find them at low tide along the Jurassic Coast
Beautifully preserved ammonites--kudos!
DachshundsRule thank you 🙏 for that
Why not using a chisel? Makes it much more easy and precise to split. Nice findings though

@Raphael Gideon Why should I hack her Insta account. Don’t you trust your gf? Then you shouldn’t be together with her
That was a very nice day on the beach. Great work gents.
Thanks 🙏
Brilliant video! I really enjoyed that and now want a hammer for my searches!😀

Dude u r the best
It’s good find fossil finding along the Jurassic Coast. Kids do better than me even as they have better eye sight and are closer to the ground
I can't believe you don't use eye protection

Amazing Nature.hi much love all. i share.Ty
Thank you
Very nice, I find a lot of gastropod & trilobite specimens in my neck of the woods. Stuff I find is way more fragile... just subscribed, thanks
Hunting around an old sea floor, about a thousand feet in elevation
Thanks very much for subscribing . Your trilobites are nearly double the age of our fossils here then
I’m going hunting today, should have a 2 parter, prepping segment in part 2... can’t wait to see more of your stuff. I can’t see myself ever making it across the pond
Thanks that’s a good idea to do a presentation of the fossils as I am preparing them
No doubt, I’ve been watching a guy from over your way doing a lot of dremel cleaning... all I use for mine is water and a nail

What's the going rate for plan ammonite sm.&BIG?!i?

How do i spot/know if it's a rock with an amonite?
I have some videos on this channel showing you the right rocks
What is the value of ammonite fossil please?

Yes ! wear safety glasses and sturdy gloves 🧤 when breaking rocks . Rock clippings can fly off and injure your eyes
Saya juga pernah dapat fosil ini di halaman belakang rumah saya
