What a fine collection of images, for me your runner up was tops, just loved it! But you couldn't get a feather between that and another 6 or 7 that were truely fantastic. Take care and keep on keeping on Nick 🙏🙏🙏

Your work is superb. Simply superb. My very favorite of your treasure trove is the very first image you showed of a piece of driftwood resisting the pull of the ocean. It seems to be a metaphor for your struggle with the universe. In any case it's exquisite.🏆✨🌿

thank you Gary - that's very kind of you to say :-)
that image very nearly made it onto the shortlist, and if it weren't for a similar one that did it most definitely would have (if you see what I mean!)

I'm a landscape guy myself, but I do enjoy your leaf and macro insect photos a lot. The runner up image is really attractive, almost rubbery in its look.

      thanks Peter 🙂
landscapes and seascapes were my bread and butter before I got too ill to really concentrate on them sadly

Better you than me Nicholas, I couldn't decide on image of the year from the collection, many great images.

Firstly, big thanks for the shout out - I am deeply grateful for your kind words. Once again you have displayed that even with the limitations of your health you have proven to get a great image you don't have to hike those hills.. as much as you miss it you have managed to maintain a standard of photography that many would be jealous of. I would say I am glad you have chosen to show these images on here as they can be viewed properly, something even viewing on the pc the IG app kills for me. Following some sicko cloning my account yesterday I have finally decided to ditch it in the near future. Right... I have paused the video after your shortlst showing to pick my own fave 3 of yours... unpause video, lets see. Mmm, I was suprised by the winner , very arty and looking at it whilst you gavce the back story I can see why - an image methinks that is a grower the more you look at it. The hover fly single image was in my top 3 as was the dandelion but I picked the dark moody leave shot with the single golden slpash of colour as my winner. A good watch my friend. atb Al

thanks Alan. It was a pleasure shouting you out 🙂
sorry to hear about the hacking though. why can't people just be nice eh? it must take more effort to be an arsehole than to just get along!
did you watch Simon Booth's latest video? He's switching to Hasselblad!
I bought Ben Horne's latest zine as well, and it arrived yesterday. Some absolutely marvelous stuff in it, all shot on 8x10 film. I really don't know how he does it!

Great choice for 2024! I understand your reasoning. There were many excellent images from which to choose. You have a most impressive, inspirational and humbling body of work. Thank you for posting. Be well.

Yes, a little underwhelmed that image won best of ‘24, my choice would be the dandelion. Nevertheless, a very enjoyable watch Nick. 💜💜

and that is why, TC, we love this hobby so much :-)
one man's masterpiece is another man's "meh"
I think I explained why I chose the winning image, in that it evoked a rather special memory that I will now recall every time I see the picture. the dandelion image I think is an example of an excellent technical image (for once!) but a memory for me will always trump technical proficiency :-)
