I wanted to write to you for some time now. While I had my mother in a 11 day coma in the hospital with a stroke and terminal cancer (my sunshine sadly rested in peace...💔) YOU were a truly sanctuary of comfort for me especially in the late long hours sitting beside her.God bless you man! Greetings from Athens,Greece
I have a soft spot for the old VW van. When I was fresh out of high school I worked as a courier for a large business in my home town. They gave me a VW van and all day I'd drive packages around between offices. The best part of it was that I got to take the van home at night and on weekends for my own use. All my friends loved it, and it was a blast to drive around town. The one I drove was white on the top and dark green on the bottom, which happened to be the exact colors of the company (Federated Co-op) in Western Canada. I remember the vans were so nimble and fun to drive. Would love to have one now in my old age.
I’m led to believe the games of ‘hide the sausage’ and ‘who can drink the most beer’ often go hand in hand. Great restorations! Would love to see more old VWs being made over.
@@MartysMatchboxMakeovers When I posted, it was 7:20am, Marty. BTW, I think I play the one Australian bush game too. Not Hide the Sausage, but I think I'm a professional at Who Can Drink the Most Beer.
Great job. You got me siting on a recliner chair under a tree on the grass. What a good place to be while watching these camping caravans make overs. Thanks for sharing... diYotam Ch
You are a really inventive, skillful and creative restorer, but it has to be said that your ability to make your own parts and decals is the most impressive.
Nice restore on them all. Very professional. Those soft pastel colors are so 60s lol. That's the one thing I remember about that time. Pastels of the sixties👍
Back in my youth I had a '65 Omni Bus with the sun top and all of the side top windows. It was VW Blue with white trim and bumpers. Made a lot of fantastic memories in that van. Brilliant job!
Well done. Those little added details on the caravette really make it stand out. The edge of the caravan / camper awning is probably scalloped, Bunting would be gathered into that shape. The table and couch /sofa / chesterfield in the caravan would both convert to beds here in the up above. Would probably sleep 4 humans or 4 dozen Kevin's. My Missus complains about putting on one pair of tights. I'd never hear the end of it if she had to put on two pair. Thanks again. Narragansett Bay
Wow ! I am really impressed wh your 3-D printer and how it handled making the interior of the caravan. Really good stuff. I reckon the more dosh you spend the better the printer. You've done a spot on job of it.
I love the effort you spend to make your videos much much more than just a how to restoration video. The highlight for me for each video is reading the headlines of the newspapers in your spray booth.
I had the camping caravan in orange original color and the WV caravete in white with light blue stripes on it. Enjoyed playing with them an remember good times from all yuor videos! Thanks a lot!
I have always been impressed and entertained with your work, but what you have done with that caravan was stunning, you're just gone to another level, well done, very impressive.
Good work. The details on the Caravette came out particularly well. The "bunting" is probably a drop down curtain on the caravan. Marty "I can't do this anymore." Mrs. Makeover, unflustered "don't be silly." Hahaha
Marty your makeovers just keep on giving, another superb effort. As to the exploding head in a barbers shop, well it nearly happened to me when I was given the bill for a quick trim, especially as I am tonsorialy challenged!!!!
These castings turned out wonderfully. From watching several diecast restorers for a longtime ive found that you, time rider, and diecast ressurection are the top 3 best restorers on you tube your vids are informative and you guys are more detail oriented as well. Thanks for entertaining us
I love reading the headlines from the newspaper in your painting both; they are hilarious, each week something new and fun. Got to love the Weekly World News.
Marty, you are the genius mad scientist of Matchbox restorations. Every look into the increasing expertise of innovation in that lab of yours is amazing. The results are more beautiful each time! Bravo, sir. Bravo!! {And between your comedy & tabloids 💈💣..👍😁}
It was a surprise to me that; Marty had just 2 Matchbox toy cars, go through a serious makeover. In spite of the fact that, the toy trailer was the wrong color.
Great restorations👍👍👍👍 Idea on the VW doors, install base first then insert upper door tab and flex base down a little, snap door in then repeat with other door. Two tone cream over red, black or sky blue would be great on the van!
Super job on that replacement caravan interior. A friend of mine who's big into that scene likes to say that once you have a 3D printer, every problem in your life becomes one to be solved with a 3D printer. :) The couches probably did fold down in the real-life equivalent--that's a pretty common thing in campers, particularly ones that don't have a pop-out, or (as in this case) come from before the pop-out was invented. Have to maximize that limited space, y'know.
Hi Marty, your newspaper is absolutely fantastic. But better a woman with four legs is a woman with four arms. She could do the housework in half time !😂😂😂. Its always nice to watch your videos brining back the old matchbox cars to life. They are worth every time of restoration because no manufacturer brings back that time of children's toys. But today I think they are more collectors items. Easy coloration only a few parts putted together and kids could play with it heavily in their homes or outside. I think Matchbox was the first producer who started metal toys instead of tin toys. I don't know if I'm right. Best wishes and ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for this restorations!
Only just found you , so I'm watching out of order. But i have now subscribed as watching is really addictive, it's fantastic what you do and the attention to detail is brilliant...😁🇬🇧
Marty I think your sense of humour is so great. Love it when you get the giggles haha. Your wife sounds lovely and I bet she keeps you right. Thanks for another great revamp.
Marty, that caravan interior is special, the fact that we have the capability to do these things these days never fails to impress me. One suggestion though, next time try to make the caravan awning from a similar material, metal to metal would have been better. Some aluminium sheet would be as easy to cut and shape with a saw and file. Great result though.
Absolutely perfect use of styrene sheeting there. It can also be used for vacuum forming and the like. You can also buy styrene strips, in all kinds of sizes and profiles. perfect for small model making, and repairs just as you do. But less of a need to fabricate from scratch. Marty!!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for this make over Video I loved it man. You not only did one you got three restored along with two VW cars. The reason I asked you to restore this vehicle is because I was once watchin "Pawn Stars" on the History Channel and a guy showed up at the pawn shop to sell about 20 boxes of "Match Box" cars like that ones you restore because he had to pay his employees. It was a HUUUGE collection this guy had all brand new. He had them in his trunk front and back seats of his car. While inspecting the toys they showed the caravan and I really liked it. Since I discovered your channel I have fun watching your videos and when you did the Unboxing number 5 and saw that caravan, so I had to request it bro and you delivered. I only requested one and you got three completed That's AWEEEESOME!!!. Thank you so much for this Caravan Video I really appreciate that bro. And you know wot " I'M HAPPY WITH THAT!!!!". Thanks so much Marty and keep up the good work with this awesome videos. Best Regards. Your Mexican Mate from Los Angeles Aldo.
Brilliant restos! Love the use of 3D printing. I noticed the print lifting from the build plate. If you are using ABS, you can prevent the lift by dropping a bit of acetone around the border as the raft is being printed. It will cause the ABS to bond to the holes in the build plate. Still comes off easily enough.
Great work Marty! You put a lot of fine work into restoring these models and it shows. The colors are great and remind me of 60's and 70's colors for vehicles. Thanks for sharing this very neat tutorial, especially the 3D printing.
