You guys do some awesome work! Makes me feel a little pressure in my own endeavors in this business. You haven't punctured my hopes and dreams and doing this professionally though. One day I'd love to learn how you guys do it. That teleporter looks really cool! Did you have to grease it down to get it into the ceiling? It looked like a tight fit! As I am designing I have been watching your videos for tips and tricks, but you guys seem to have a crack team that knows exactly what you are doing in all parts of this businesses from designing ship hulls to Amazon temples. You definitely set the bar very high.
On a serious note, we have been building sets and props, and designing practical effects stuff for over 10 years and we have been constantly learning and improving. We are trying to share as much as possible about the WAY we think about things as well as methods and materials. If we push too much info at once, it gets a bit unpleasant and sounds like a lecture. If you EVER have questions, our info is always free. On a lighter note... Ahem... :-/. Nicely hidden, you smarmy, slick sonovabitch :-)
Love these videos so much. I love escape rooms and have a vague dream of maybe opening one; but for now I love watching your videos. I kinda wish I could quit my current job and work with you guys. I work in post production VFX for film and tv so maybe I have something to contribute! Do you guys do projects nation-wide? Thanks and keep the videos coming!
I know- I watched some of your videos! Nice extension work- you should post more on RUclips. If something comes up I will reach out to you. Most of our work is in the US, but we have produced a respectable amount for overseas clients. Our next installation will be in Anchorage, Alaska toward the end of January. Brrr. I talked to the client yesterday and he’s okay following the earthquake! -Mark
About using Bluetooth to control lights: You can, using some HC-05 / HC-06 ! But I think you'll have to figure out what kind of data you transmit to those to turn them on and off.. Anyway, the room looks amazing :).
Love what you did but I am surprised you did not distress the walls. Ever since you spoke about layers I have been looking at things differently. I like my spaceships to be a little grungy like Serenity from Firefly.
I think we will be doing that soon, on a different ship. I like distressed (generally on humanoid ships only) but we are starting with clean aliens. This will give us somewhere to go in the future, too :-D
I'm pretty sure there is some way to connect Arduino to bluetooth using i²c... But that's not really the kind of application Arduinos are suited for. If you want to interface with more complicated devices, like webcams or bluetooth devices and such, I'd recommend using a Raspberry Pi.
Thank you. The Raspberry is next on my list for things that I almost know about. I'm told that it requires knowledge of Linux, which uncharted water for me.
It looks harder when vertical, I think we'll do the remainder vertical. If you give me your email through our facebook page, I'll send you pics of the other stencils for your edification and enjoyment. Lol Gratuitous Sets Laboratories on the bookface
"Spoiler removed. Sorry. Posted before video ended". Excellent advice, which has surely saved many an alien while trying to hang a framed picture of their brood other and hivelings. As for the other one, that technology must work... very differently to the way I imagined. A new perspective on travel tubes?
looks so cool. good job Mark & Matt.
:-D

Also, the room looks awesome all painted up.
I think we will start testing before the end of the week, and the Mayan game goes public tomorrow, July 31

We are still prototyping different Bluetooth ideas👌

I'll make a statement about this- thanks for the heads up!
Thank you again for this video and informations.
How soon until the beta test?
AMAZING!
That’s very kind of you! Cheers! 🙂
Where is this located?
That particular spaceship is in Plano, Texas (near Dallas)

Looks incredible, gang! Oh, and NEVER go FULL DISCO. I think it's actually illegal, in most states. 😎
Well, it's a class C misdemeanor, so that's practically encouraged!
:-/
As to the signs: Mark, what happens if I do? And Matt, I wasn't aware that was a necessity to get me there.
Absolutely beautiful...
It took me longer than it should have!

Hull pressure, do not puncture
Pressure hull - Do not puncture (I think) but, CLOSE ENOUGH !! Brilliant!🤣

Winner! Nuff said 😂
The markings were easier to decipher on my phone than my heavy iMac.
Charlie! :-D
I tried coming up with a funny way of explaining the signs but my mind took me to perversion on both. So I'm just going to stop.
Close enough :-)
Sicko!!
So much sci-fi happiness!!!
Gratuitous Sets Even more!
Gratuitous Sets More, more, more!
