    I had a scooter in London 1956 -1958. I always left it parked on the street during the day and overnight as did many owners of scooters. Never touched or stolen. 40 years later I visited the school where I had taught. I told the caretaker where I left it during the day, and he said that now it would have been stolen or damaged. Our society has certainly changed.

      Just the storage and recovery costs not the forensics. Which is absolutely ridiculous still as its part of a crime! But they say just claim it on your insurance. Sounds like one huge insurance stitch up really.

    Two criminals threatening people with machetes stole that scooter, and the police want to charge the victim £150 to have the scooter forensically examined...
    It shows you that the authorities are NOT interested in stopping or arresting these criminals. And that is the reason this type of crime flourishes in London.

    Did I hear right, that the police were telling this guy that he would have to pay £150 if he wanted them to collect evidence and investigate this crime? What the actual fuck is going on in Britain these days?!
    What good did calling the police even do? The only good thing that came from calling the police was that the legit owner of the scooter wouldn't be assumed to be the person committing the armed robbery since he had reported it stolen.
    Imagine how much better our society could be if the police had all the funding needed to investigate crimes. So much money is being thrown into the welfare system that it's crippling this country. And, ironically, it's the recipients of these welfare payments who are going out and committing these crimes 99% of the time.

    What's ironic about the fact the thieves being one step ahead of MTrack & the Police. A Kryptonite lock is only as good as the 18V Makita angler grinder with a 2mm. cutoff wheel....Sheeeesh!

  • @alastairbarkley6572
    @alastairbarkley6572 3 года назад +1

    "Can't cut Kryptonite"? CORRECT, that shackle is well case-hardened steel. You can't saw it, you cannot drill it, you can't cold chisel it. BUT, that shackle hasn't been 'cut' it's been GROUND. With an abrasive wheel - possibly even diamond. There is NO METAL ON EARTH which cannot be ground through - titanium, tungsten alloy, beryllium whatnot - that's why the electric ANGLE GRINDER is the weapon of choice for these thieves. In London, the lowlifes sometimes even used a petrol (gasoline) grinder and threaten passers-by - as in 'I bloody dare you to do something'. Not worth getting stabbed for someone else's bike. FWIW, you can FREEZE case hardened steel - below about - minus 150 degr. C it becomes brittle and can be shattered with a hammer blow. It does involve you carrying some sort of cryo device (or liquid nitrogen) about.

    Is there any solution to the crazy levels of bike theft in London?

    • @JoshBosh84
      @JoshBosh84 7 лет назад

      Other than making it totally impractical to steal (removing components so van removal needed), it is always going to happen in London. The people who steal them are usually below 18, and use them for crime around the capital. They generally favour higher powered mopeds (twist and go), with room for two. You won't generally see these clowns going around on a 50cc.
      Really glad he got the bike back, but with the state of these untouchable criminals, it is bound to happen again.

    • @Fekillix
      @Fekillix 7 лет назад

      Painting it in reflective pink might help xD. Adding a secondary killswitch and or having a bike with a transponder key will prevent them from riding away on it. The downside of the last two is that they still will destroy your ignition in the attempt to take it.
      I know Suzuki has a keyless 125cc motorcycle now though, but new bikes are valuable, so they'll just throw it in the back of a van. The only realistic solution is a massive fuck-off chain, but then you have to have a place to anchor it.

      They make for a good method to help with future thefts . With no gears the bandits can easily keep one leg free when riding, using this to foot push away any bandit mates on a stolen bike, so no van needed just get two bandit mates, one on a scooter the other on the newly stolen bike. Most common method used in London.
