There is almost eight seconds separating those splits. Between the three, the difference between Pan and Yang’s relay splits is the smallest of the three comparisons and that is why Pan didn’t swim the anchor on this relay.
The situation which was throughout the game or even at last with China and US being neck to neck and leading with a big margin from others throughout- China's Pan Zhanle would have easily overtake US and have won the gold.
