    I have no idea how this ended in my recommended feed, since I haven't played physical TCGs since the early 2000s, but this feels nostalgic to look at. Also, that is a surprisingly practical looking deck box. Back in the day I just used a small metal cookiebox. :D

      I had a similar experience nine years ago that got me back into MTG. At the time my two year old son watched RUclips on my iPad Mini. He had fallen asleep, so I retrieved the iPad to plug it in to charge. In the right hand side was a recommendation for a video from Open Boosters. I watched it and was instantly hooked again. I too hadn’t played any TCG since about 2002/2003

    I was able to fit two double sleeved EDH decks in here pretty comfortably where the second deck is split between the main compartment and in one of the drawers. The other drawer is for tokens and the top compartment is for dice and other small stuff. I agree with it being the "utility" deck box, really love how I now only have one box with all that I need in it instead of having one for cards and other, smaller ones for tokens, dice and other accessories.

  • @KennethKnickerbocker
    @KennethKnickerbocker 6 месяцев назад +3

    I like the box a lot. The main deck space with the divider can easily hold 1 doubled sleeved commander deck plus extra cards or 2 double sleeved 60 card decks, tokens and sideboards can fit nicely in the two drawers, accordingly for each deck, and dice can go in the top open tray. I am currently using it for one of my commander decks while I am traveling and it is sturdy and didn’t have any issues in my bag. All magnets held well and secure. Definitely recommend if you are in the market for a new deck box. I would not recommend using other deck boxes with it as it isn’t necessary, though you definitely could if you are going the 2 x 60 card deck route.

    I use 2 of this to store my main decks:
    1 contains my Modern Affinity+modifications to transform it in a Legacy, Vintage, Pioneer and Pauper deck, plus tokens, all cards single sleeved (near 300 cards between the different spaces) + 2 d20 and a dozen of d6.
    1 contains my Modern Burn+modifications to transform it in a Legacy, Vintage, Pioneer and Pauper deck, plus a few tokens, all cards double sleeved (near 230 cards between the different spaces) +2 d20 and a dozen of d6.
    I bought them via Kickstarter when The Prof launched his campaign to build The Academic 133+.
    I'm actually going to purchase a third one to settle my Infect deck, built in a similar way to the other 2 decks I list before.

    The side draws hold about 40 cards single sleeved. Which for MTG is great for tokens. Flesh and Blood TCG has Blitz decks (40 cards) and Ultimate Pit Fit (UPF, 40 cards) that can fit in those draws really well. Their standard Classic Constructed deck size is 80 total cards. Box overall is amazing for multiple TCG games.

    I have the Kickstarter version. I fit 2 commander decks in the main area, single sleeved. Then I can fit a third deck in the drawers, with tokens for the deck. I can fit a marker, a small d20, and a good sized pile of d6 and infna-tokens. I am impressed with how much it holds.

    I have to say NO because I’ve bought 3 and they have a manufacturing issue. Warped in the middle, can’t really access it one handed. The trays are hard to get in and out. The top tray doesn’t fit the new chunky mtg spindowns. It can only fit one commander deck and not two but single sleeved there’s so much space where the cards still flop around.

  • @weishin
    @weishin 5 месяцев назад

    The problem I have with this is the small compartments say they can hold 52 sleeved deck but you have to push it down. Then when you slide it in the deck will expand. When you pull it out again a card can get caught.... and damage it

    • @KiraMTG
      @KiraMTG  5 месяцев назад

      Personally I've been using main compartment for 1 full double sleeved deck, then splitting a 2nd deck into 3 parts(double sleeved) in the top and 2 compartments and no issues. I know I could fit it much easier just dividing the deck across the main compartment since there's so much space, but so far I've not had any issues with cards being caught etc.

      That's unfortunate to hear, but makes sense when you scale up production and keep a competitive price. I imagine distribution eats up a lot of the cost when you're selling world wide.

      The professor of Tolaran community College does and has done tons of product reviews. Many of the deck boxes would pass but he had a gripe of some kind. So gamegenic asked him how he would design a deck box. So he started a kick starter and this is the final product. I have one from the kickstarter the deck box is fantastic.

    • @KiraMTG
      @KiraMTG  5 месяцев назад

      There's a ton of boxes, and many of them do a great job. But there hasn't really been a lot of people thinking about "innovating" a deck box that holds cards. Having someone come in with fresh ideas after having hands on with basically every variant out there is just what it takes for a little push.

    • @KiraMTG
      @KiraMTG  5 месяцев назад

      Depends, but in my experience yeah. Single sleeve for precons, double for any deck that has expensive cards. When you consider a deck is 100 cards and you can't pick and choose which to double sleeve, there's low chances you'll have a deck with 100 single cards that you don't want any of them to be double protected.

      I have two from the Kickstarter and they are great. It all comes down what you are using it for. I like using one for limited. Plenty of space for tokens and dice, with the main compartment for the deck and sideboard.
