  • Dealer gave me a pricey quote on something that sounded quite trivial (throttle body cleaning) and claimed since it was a turbo the carbon buildup could be quite heavy. I decided to see what it would take, and cost, having not touched anything under the hood of this or any metric car previously. I do have prior mechanical knowledge, usually extending just to brakes, wheels, and oil. Although with the magic of RUclips and the interwebs, we can figure out how to do just about anything ourselves!
    Disassembly 5:00
    Tools needed; 3:16
    10 mm socket with extension and ratchet
    flathead screwdriver
    phillips head screwdriver
    pliers
    intake/carb/throttle body cleaner
    shop towels
    roughly 2 hours of spare time

    Thank you so much for this video. There are literally, ZERO other video's on this for a turbo. I have UBER OCD and anxiety issues when it comes to my vehicles and am struggling to see myself taking off the boost pipe, JUST to get the freakin throttle body. I know, it's sad... but hey that's life. Do you think you could have gotten the TB tube off without taking the boost pipe off? All I need to do is spray some CRC into the throttle body.

      Yea I had to find to find the info in TB replacement videos haha. It's a simple job for sure. Everything I took off easily slips right back into place. Not 100% on the terminology, but if you're referring to the hose connecting to the front side of the TB, if i remember right it was difficult to turn and clean the back of the TB as i left a couple hoses on as to not have to worry about any fluids. If the front hose stayed attached it would limit your access more I would expect.

    Hey again! Thought of another question. I don't drive my Veloster Turbo much and read that after treatment that you should drive consistently afterwards to ensure it works properly. Can you shed any light on how much you think I'll need to drive it afterwards for it to do it's job?

      @ZozzerRidez  3 года назад +1

      Sorry I hadn't done much research on the technical side of it, just disassembly, and reassembly. Purely speculation here, but that sounds to me like a "if it doesn't drive right after the job, you did something wrong" kinda deal.

    Hey bro next time use CRC GDI Intake and turbo cleaner. And yes that Throttle can crud up due to the engine being a GDI engine. Blow by is the cause of it and everyone recommends an oil Catch can for these velosters

    • @zayersw286
      @zayersw286 3 года назад

      Just VTA and then a breather filter instead of a catch can system

    • @mikey08857
      @mikey08857 3 года назад

      @@zayersw286 Yes i have an oil catch can from ADDw1. Breathers are no good for these newer ECU controlled cars. the breather was good for carbureted and Distributer ignition cars. You can cause a code if you use a breather on new cars and it causes high idle. I got a very good HP gain after using crc i do not work for them but i used this product and there is no gimmicks here this stuff is the real deal. ruclips.net/video/RcVDZAauO88/видео.html&ab_channel=CRCIndustries

      Hey Mikey do you just spray CRC GDI on the Throttle Body while it's running or somewhere else. I'm new at this and I don't want to hit the air mass flow sensor with the spray. Thanks.

    Your Tb isnt going to get dirty that much because you have an intercooler inline. It's the intake valves that get the most dirty because the pcv is recirculated back into the intake manifold.

    • @ZozzerRidez
      @ZozzerRidez  3 года назад

      Yea, I didn't expect it to be nearly as dirty as they were trying to portray at the dealership. He literally had a picture saved on his desktop, which was a throttle body full to the brim of black grease...
      I wonder how many people believed him.

      @@ZozzerRidez oh they are out there. They're called stealerships for a reason. You should upgrade the tb to a 60mm. It's so worth it. You have to buy new cold pipes though

    Hi, I cleaned the TB the way you did it, but I need to calibrate it, I heard that when we opened the butterfly, we have to calibrate the TB with the scanner or manually, this because is electronic TB, do you know how calibrate it manually?, thank you.
