I think Steven hit the nail on the head when he said, “I had a place in the world at a boba shop.” The “boba lifestyle” is a well-established part of the Asian-American experience and identity, but I’ve never heard someone articulate it as well as he did. It's really cool to see Bopomofo being a part of that, and I'm so glad you guys were able to experience this while you were in LA. First off, I have followed Wong Fu since 2008 and have watched them go through all their changes of moving offices, staff changes, opening Bopomofo, and then creating their second location (where you guys were at). Korean Englishman/Jolly has, over the years, become my top 3 favorite RUclips channels. To see you guys at Bopomofo and interacting with Phil makes me so giddy. I never would have imagined that you guys would ever cross paths. I love this.
Honestly when Steven said he doesn't really like pearls I felt that so hard. Usually I swap out the pearls for coffee jelly or grass jelly or just drink it straight (I know, blasphemy 🙈).
I don't like any solids in my drink, I find it really disturbing. Boba, OJ pulp, fruit chunks in a smoothie, all a "no" from me. But I do like all of the drinks without the solids.

Yeah I'm not a huge tapioca fan. For me its all about the popping balls. Our local Asian store sells them and I may have had 3 pots yesterday (without even making them into a drink- I just ate them with a spoon!)
Some places don’t do good tapioca or they do bland tapioca. So usually I prefer my tea without cause I’d rather have more liquid without things obstructing my drink. Since the boba displaces like a third of the drink lol. Unless I know the place does really good boba.
So happy that Steven took them to a place like this because I truly believe California has the best Asian fusion food. Really underrated outside of the locals and people don't talk about the huge Asian American food scene out there. Boba is like the coffee and tea culture you have everywhere else.

I am glad that you guys enjoyed the drinks and dishes at Bopomofo. I already went to the one in San Gabriel, and that experience was amazing. The dishes and drinks were freaking delicious and worth the wait. I got to meet Phil Wang of Wong Productions during Black Friday 2021 when I did not expect him to work during that day. I will definitely go to the Artesia location since it is closer to where my dad lives and try more dishes and drinks that I haven't tried yet when I am in OC. It is great to see you guys and Steven Lim together again ever since the ChoSun Galbi Korean BBQ video.
I first tried corn milk in Thailand and I'm all about that flavour. I really want to try that strawberry corn milk drink! I squealed when Phil came on screen, I remember watching lots of their videos years ago. The vegan chicken popcorn reminds me of Singapore's inexpensive vegetarian hawker food and also the food place called Greendot in Singapore. They have soy nuggets that taste meat like! For anyone travelling to Singapore and looking for vegan food in a more restaurant setting but with a low price point, do look out for a Greendot restaurant. It's affordable and so so yummy! They have the classic laksa too which I dare say is just a good as the non vegan version.

"It's more of a lifestyle than a drink." Amen to that, brother.
I love the text box following Phil around! Wong Fu, Ryan Higa, Bubz Beauty, and Michelle Phan were the first youtubers I subscribed to, so seeing you chatting with Phil and Steven is so crazy to me! RUclipsrs... Assemble!
Yes, this is the most wholesome thing I've seen in a long time
Ollie’s face when he tastes something….sometimes hard to tell other times hilariously evident.
Wong Fu was one of the first channels that i loved and a few years later Unsolved and then you guys sometime after that THIS IS SUCH A DREAM COME TRUE 😭💖
The sunlight makes the video feel like a chill sunday late morning. So prettyyyyy
I'd recommend Jolly to try the famous Porto's Bakery in L.A.
Went there in 2019 for breakfast and was a great experience! Just ask any local residents 😋
6:05 Steven enjoying his favorite drink casually, Josh explaining why he also loves it, and Ollie over here taking a prostate exam.
Best collab ever, three favorite boys in yt and Phillip really gives so much positive vibes
so pleasantly surprised to see phil! i have followed wongfu closely back in the day, and then steven’s worth it was one of my fav shows from buzzfeed, and of course i loved korean englishmen bringing cultures together… feel like my youtube life has come full circle when they all met
Ollie, just letting you know, your "Tastes like a family" joke at 5:20 did not go on deaf ears.
I'm having gastro at the moment & watching them eat so deliciously makes me so excited about the day I get well!
I never realized how little sun there is in London until I see this and realized Jolly looks weird in sunlight lmao🤣
This is such a wholesome combo of people.
Speaking of which, I am so ready for Josh from gmm.
I never really realized it but Steven probably just lifted the underlying emotional reason why Asian Americans are seemingly addicted to boba, going to the bubble tea show at least once a week and never getting tired of it.
I love how their great chemistry. They make me so fun. So I rly hope that you guys have safe and vice versa I'm such a fan of boba, either
Bopomofo is a pride & joy of LA/OC!! I’m partly so happy y’all got to try it, and partly so mad that I was so close to meeting you two that weekend because I was in OC 😭😭😭
This was hilarious and heartwarming. I didn’t know anything about the Jolly boys until these Watcher collabs and I’m so glad I do now.
*walks across a parking lot*
Ollie: "We're jaywalking!"
lol 😂
This is my neighborhood and I have been wanting to try this place! I didn’t know the Wong Fu guy opened it! Now I must try it!! And a little correction, this isn’t exactly OC (you are still in LA county), but the Artesia/Cerritos area is at the border right next to OC. The Asian American food scene has been growing in this area in recent years, definitely much better than 20+ years ago!
Yasss Cerritos is in LA county!
Steven is not exaggerating when he says Boba id a lifestyle especially in California. Crazy boba culture
I don't get that saying. I come from the East of Canada we've had bubble tea &/or Pearl milk tea since I was in high school (1990's) I'm +40 yrs old. It seems that the west coast is behind the times.
@@robert-antoinedenault5901 California has had boba for longer than that.
@@robert-antoinedenault5901 you’ve had it but it wasn’t a phenomenon or cultural shift until the boba shops of Cali started poppin off in the late 90s
@@robert-antoinedenault5901 its been around here since the 90s as well, but it's constantly evolving over the years and you can find multiple boba shops within a small radius (I currently live around 5 different shops within 2 mi of me)
@@johnnyDizzyV I know that coffee is a huge thing here as with the Hong Kong coffee. Maybe we don't have the same hype as winter here lasts 8-9 months of the year. Those shops and ice cream shops close during winter here. It's pretty much seasonal.
"I'm sorry, I'm just feeling so emotional on your behalf" HAHAHAHAHA i'm gone
Can we all appreciate Josh for wearing a Watcher merch tee to support Steven ❤️
My RUclips worlds are colliding with this series!! 💖 Wong Fu is one of my top favorite channels of all time. It makes my heart so happy to see you at Phil’s restaurant and to see the fruition of everyone’s hard work to get to this point in time. ✨Magic.✨
I can’t wait to see y’all with Josh from Mythical!!
should not have watched that in the middle of work, now I reeaally want to have some milk tea and pepper tofu and popcorn chicken 🤤
Alright Jolly, you need to have a sign up for a touring food trip, where we fly with you, especially to Korea, that we may taste all these foods that make our mouths water! ❤ from Florida.
As an Aussie, I'm extremely jealous rn, I'm dying to try that gorgeous honey walnut shrimp burger! Phil, pls open a branch in Sydney!
You can tell Philip is just a good dude and super funny! 👌
"Tastes like a family" 😛....I did not expect that from Ollie.......
🤣🤣🤣
That honey walnut shrimp burger looks so good. Honey walnut shrimp is one of my favorite things ever. A classic Cantonese dish and to have it as a burger? Sounds like heaven.
Stellar episode! Something else I need to try as an Aussie! Hope Jolly gets to do a buffet wile in the US and I hope you do it with Strictly Dumpling!
did not expect to just see a RUclips hall of famer just manning a boba shop today
This is like the most calmest I’ve seen Steven be 💀
This was lovely to watch
I love how Josh and Ollie are sharing like siblings or a couple might. 🤣
The plaza you guys went to is a place I visit almost every day. I can’t believe I missed the chance meeting you guys in person. I’m glad you were able to try LA boba!
I trust Ollie’s facial expressions. If his face says it’s good, I probably want to try it too HAHAHA
Worlds colliding and I love it!!
I introduced my hubby to Jolly a while ago. I already used to watch Worth It then my hubby introduced me to the Watcher crew.
Love all you guys ❤❤
"What do you see?"
Ollie: "daddy issues"
Same ollie same
Only just discovering your channel through your watcher video & I’m glad! This video was so wholesome. Wish I could watch it again for the first time. All the best!
You should watch their video from beginning they're fun to watch i promise you
6:03 Ollie's expressions get me every time🤣🤣🤣.
Omg it's Steven 😭😭♥️ All my favs together ㅠㅠ
You can totally get pudding in boba here in the UK, clearly our boys have been missing out 😂😂😂
What an absolute BANGER of a video !!!
LOVE THIS!! JOLLY AND BOPOMOFO?? DREAM COME TRUE I LOVE IT! (and what steven said is so true, i go to their other location and i see phil there taking orders and serving)
I've been a pretty avid boba drinker since before it became incredibly popular so I'm use to see all the drinks like these in the video but it's always fun to watch other people experience the uniqueness in some of these drinks.
BOPOFOMO!!! Ahhh so glad y’all got to try this! I love their fiend chicken and fruit teas 😍
1:12 I love how Ollie always gives a delayed smile like he's slowly letting you in on the fact that he's joking.
I watched Ollie make the corn milk more times than I want to admit and laughed louder each time.
Loved this vid guys! You both and your collab people are so fun to watch!!
