  • As spring swings into high gear, it’s time to focus on improving your self-care routine and overall well-being. For someone with irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D), unfortunately, this may be easier said than done. So, since April is IBS Awareness Month Dr. Jack Braha and patient Ceciel Rooker talk about living with and managing IBS-D.

My IBS-D started in 1993, i was quickly diagnosed that year, returned to CT USA in 1997, went thru many many GI docs and no cure, no changes, on Nov 2021 I became 100% constipated, still had the painful urges to go but couldn't, went to a few more GI docs ( they recommended to drink 30 ML of milk of Magnesia daily ), finally found a doc that would look into it, he told me due to my bowls always being active ( for 28 years ) that my pelvic muscles locked my intestines in a tight and squeezing position which is called Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. Way more pain as I feel I have a bowling ball inside of me and daily knife sharp pains. I was sent for therapy for PFD but medicare stopped that saying it's not an emergency, so I've looked up exorcizes on youtube... Not much luck, eliminated as much solid food as possible.. Have been begging doc for a colostomy bag but he says i am too young ( 56 ). PFD is worse than IBS-D.
