    I'm always amazed at the history that lies in the mud of the Thames. Such an abundance. I've walked the beach on the East Coast of the US for many years and I know the ocean sorts things. Where you find one of something, you are much more likely to find similar. I love that the Thames leaves all the copper nails in that one spot!

    A fantastic day for a lark! Love the history. The Farthing, ball button and the amazing fastener are my favorites of this muckery. The dress fastener is like a hook and eye . It would have been sewn on. The opposite side would have had a round or D shaped bit to hook into.

    What a thrilling set of finds! I got Uber excited when I found two Indian head pennies in the dog yard of the kennel I worked for, and those were only a bit over 100 years old. Turns out it was built on the site of a very old (for the US) chicken farm, and the dog yard was over their dump. Well before organized garbage pickup...everyone just pitched their detritus onto a heap somewhere on their property. I also found a silver dime, but lost it when a overly playful Newfie knocked me flying. I would be over the moon to find anything as old as the coins you find regularly. Your channel is so much fun!

    Okay, Simon, this one has your best intro yet! triple exposure, if my eyes don't deceive me, color washes, too (we're not worthy haha)... Very creative and energetic start to the video. *And what a day you had* !! You must've had a premonition the way you charged down the steps rubbing your hands together like Ebenezer Scrooge; that did make me laugh! Great research and your always interesting running commentary make these videos a treasure.

    I enjoy watching your Si-finds Thames Mudlark videos. Do you ever phone the London Museum when you have found something so heavy or big you cannot take it to them? I know you have found skeletons of boats and a very big wooden wheel. Or do you ever report where the finds are to the museum?

  • @MegaDknox
    @MegaDknox 5 лет назад

    Cool finds. When you found the bottle it reminded me about some jars i had found in a friends garden. A few years ago he told me he was tilling his garden and found 2 jars with letters from the 1960s. I went over with my detector and found 15 or 16 more jars all with letters from a veteran. Sadly he had written all the letters but didn't send any of them. The house was located aross the railroad tracks from a veterans hospital. I never understood why they would be buried.
